A very short story by Sienna Mynx. I read this straight after finishing Daisy's Choice which left me on a high, and expecting another fascinating quick read from SM. I was a little disappointed though, as I felt the story ended abrubtly and left me wanting to know more.
Though it's a short read it had a lot to say. A period piece of forbidden love taking place just before Dec. 7, 1941 in Pearl Harbor. The characters had so much depth. The ending was totally openended and I really liked that about it.
today i notice this book was here at good reads i so decide to add it i read this book five months ago. i like the whole forbidden to be together romance. another one those past the time read.
I loved the idea of an inter-racial romance during WWII era between a Navy guy and his friend's sister. It was a big taboo back then and then there was the ominous clouds of war threatening too.
This turned out to be a scrap of a book- an exercise the author called it. This is because after the backdrop, plot and characters draw one in and its about to get interesting, it abruptly stops.
Good stuff and I hope the author finishes this one.
Did this book just end like that? Smh big problem for me. At first I gave 2 stars but I could not get the fact it just ended in what should have been the middle of the the book. Hell even if she was wrapping the book up I would have been ok, but no just end...nobody knows about the baby, I have no idea what happen to the brother and did they get to work it out no idea. I'm mad as hell right now. Wast of my time since I got no closer.
Good story, great characters, meaningful plot good love story but I am to know what happened. Did the war separate Micheal and Vivian. I hope the next book picks up where this left off; talk about leaving the reader wanting more. You did that quite well. I am hungry for the next course of this delicious appetizer.
Michael and Vivian and her brother Eli. The story was intense back in the day when it was forbidden for White/black couples to be together. Eli was silly not to listen to Vivian's side of the story and I felt sad not knowing if Vivian and Michael get their happy ending. Vivian has a secret she needs to share with Michael. Definitely worth a read!
This short story did it's job. It gave me a taste of the author's writing ability. I wish this particular story was longer or had subsequent stories to go with it because I would like closure. This was my first taste of Sienna Mynx, but it won't be my last.
An interracial romance set in the 40s. Can it really have positive results? This was the main question in my mind as I began to read. In the end I find it a beautiful story.
