"Poetry readers have always acknowledged Sara Teasdale's talent as a lyric poet. Now. in celebration of the centennial of her birth, Teasdale's literary executor has authorized the release of 51 poems that the poet had deemed 'too personal' for publication even after her death. These poems will liberate Teasdale from her reputation as a sentimental poet and place her firmly within the poetic tradition of the twentieth century."
some gold in here for sure. some of her early stuff reminds me a lot of mitski, actually. however, the lyric format can get really grating after a while. i only made it halfway before i tapped out. but, really, there are some gems in here
Moving and melancholy. The introduction that gives some history of Ms. Teasdale was of particular interest, given we share the same hometown. The poetry is often sad, but lovely, completely influenced by her life, and her loves.
