Travels with Charlie: Travelin' the Northeast

Pack it up and take a trip on to the American Northeast on every page! It's part travelogue, part I Spy, part Where's...Charlie! Each spread covers a state in the region and lists a mix of interesting, historical, well-known, and offbeat tourist spots. The illustrations show the locations mentioned and include a dog named Charlie "hidden" within each pictorial.

What a well written exciting book for children. This book is perfect for children who want to learn more about the states in the Northeast. It is filled with fun facts as well as bright pictures to help illustrate what the facts are talking about.

I was sucked in my the Steinbeck referencing title, but I was not impressed. A hybrid of Where's Waldo and a weak poetry book with completely random facts slotted down the side. It was clearly arranged by someone with no sense of travel, because the states are arranged alphabetically rather than in any order that would have made sense. Also, I'm not entirely sure Ohio, Delaware or Maryland would have signed up for inclusion in the Northeast had they been given a say. (I'm also not sure the Northeast would have taken them if they'd applied.)

Best as a library pick for little ones getting interested in geography. Certainly not a keeper with better states books on the market.

4.5 stars I love this book for several reason. 1st it is about travel. Oddly enough I have been to most of these places. 2nd it is a look and find book, and kids love that.
Cute pictures, Geography! Love!
