Ted was a worldwide acclaimed speaker and teacher. A clairvoyant since childhood, he was also a certified spiritualist medium for nearly 30 years.
Probably best known for his work with animals, Ted held state and federal permits to work with birds of prey. He performed wildlife rescue and worked in wildlife rehabilitation and education. He conducted animal education and storytelling programs with his animals in school classrooms throughout the year, giving freely of his own time and expense to help young people discover the wonder of animals and nature. In his spare time, he enjoyed hanging out with his menagerie of animals, training and playing with his horses and ballroom dancing.

I dug out this Ol'Tarot set in a basement bedroom while visiting my sisters boyfriends family home. I was so excited to see this, as Ted Andrews always writes in a language that is healing and understanding.
The Animal Wise Tarot is a well put together deck! It is numbered the same as traditional tarot, yet it replaces all the art with real images of the animal representing the energy of the card. The animals pictured are closely associated with the character attributes of the traditional meanings!
Changes most noticeable within this deck are the suits of the minor arcana.
Wands become the Ancients, represented by the reptiles and amphibians.
Cups become the Shapeshifters, or the insects and arachnids (which I'm so happy are included!).
Swords become the Winged Ones, these are all birds.
Pentacles become the Four-Leggeds which are all shown as mammals. (Not all animals shown have 4 legs)
Even with some minor editing misses, this book and tarot deck is 5 Star! It shuffles nicely, with a thinner card stock, and the writing and messages from the animals are truly for the good of all!

The Animal Wise Tarot is not a reading book, per say. It is based more on tarot readings and how to discern the meanings of the animals. Still, Ted Andrews was a brilliant man and I try to read everything he ever wrote. I've read a lot of his books and haven't been let down once!
