Mermen twins Jaden and Chrys have been scorned all their lives by Atlantean society. The only one who cares about them is Prince Aurus. But when Aurus and Chrys fall in love, they leave Jaden an outsider. Secretly, Jaden wants his twin, but he keeps his sinful affection well hidden. After they are separated from Aurus, he is the only one who can comfort Chrys, even if only in a brotherly manner.

When the Atlantean king concocts a plan to hurt them, Jaden and Chrys run away, and their paths cross with Aurus's again. This time, though, a strange force interferes in their lives. A dark, powerful beast that lives in the depths of the ocean calls out to Jaden, luring him toward its lair. With Jaden in danger of disappearing forever, Chrys and Aurus are faced with a choice, a realization, and a decision. Will mysterious Vaar finally help the three mermen see the truth, or will he end their very existences?

Scarlet Hyacinth

Scarlet Hyacinth was born in 1986, in a Romania still struggling under the weight of the communist regime. As a young girl, she started studying the English language and fell in love with books.
After a childhood spent devouring hundreds of pages of fantasy literature, Scarlet found her calling. While at uni, she discovered with the help of a dear friend that she had a knack for writing. The rest, as they say, is history, or rather, lots of hard work and sleepless nights. Today, she can only say with a smile that nothing is impossible and that no matter what others say, you can achieve your dreams if you work hard enough.

Scarlet Hyacinth brings this "intriguing plot" alive with her interesting characters and style of writing. Once I whirled into her pool of story, I can't seem to swim out until the end.

This was kind of a disappointing read because I thought - based on the blurb - it would be a lot darker than it was.
Even beyond that, there never really was a sense of urgency.
Things just...happened. And the enumerated elements were just that. Enumerated. They weren't incorporated very well and seemed token at best. Actually, it kind of felt like the author got too excited about them and got ahead of herself, said too much when she should have moved on, skipped parts when she should have lingered to explain/develop just a bit more.

Sponge coral is not soft. And there is no other coral that is vaguely spongy, so I fail to see how "spongy coral" would make a great bed if he finds a bedcover abrasive.
Any character who really doesn't know when he says something out loud and when he says it in his head is TSTL in my book.

And god, even the damn dragon had a wangst moment.

Inexplicable Dragon Rider moment.

Eh. I'm sad because it was disappointing.
There also wasn't any sex until a good half of the book was over.

Basically, going through this, there were little niggles that I could kind of ignore, but in the end, it didn't endear the book to me.

Also, the cover, on first glance, looks kind of cool-ish, but if you sit and stare at it, it's kind of meh.

And damn, Scarlet Hyacinth really likes her time jumps...
And passive voice. Don't let me forget that. The mass profusion passive voice.

Sweet little fairy tale not very dark, and It doesn't delve very deep. It's a nice simple read when one feels like having brain candy. For those purposes I would recommend it; Unless... (even though it involves NO humans at all) the m/m/m/m or MerTwinCest themes were possibly an issue.
For me, The plot was interesting and took some turns I wasn't really expecting. I was pleasantly surprised which is nice when one reads a lot. The "hard stuff" is touched on but quickly dealt with due to all the "trials of their Odyssey".

not part of a series; better than below mentioned

typical Scarlet Hyacinth serial romance. nothing fantastic, nothing so bad it can't be finished. what is typical Scarlet Hyacinth? imagine a shorter harlequin romance but with no t&a (see, i was going to write no surprise pregnancies, but... yeah.).

out of sheer laziness, i will be using this as my template for all serials by UNLESS motivated otherwise by markedly good/bad writing:
Scarlet Hyacinth
joyee flynn
sunny day
lynn hagen
stormy glenn
carol lynne
gabrielle evans

i'd apologize for said halfassedness, but i'm not sorry.

This was an interesting look at an underwater fantasy world with totally human problems. Jaden's isolation makes him vulnerable to attack, Chrys is blind to his twin's real problems (partly becuase they try to stay away from each other, as society demands) and Aurus may look powerful, but his ability to help the two is limited. I liked ths book for what it is: a fantstic tale with lots of angst, a mystery to solve and an enemy who is very dark and evil.

Gosh. I really loved this story. I really thought that the couples worked out good by themselves but when you turn them into a realtionship consisting of four people. Like damn, thats hot. One thing i really wish happened in the story was for jaden and chrys to get pregnent or atleast give birth since it said male mer mans could do just that. I would recommend this story to most people i guess...

Probably the only thing I liked is the cover. The writing is simplistic, the plot predictable, there is virtually no world building, but there is insta-love and too much & too detailed sex (warning: ).

Eh. Predictable. Jaden & Vaar were a nice enough couple, didn't really care for Chrys & Aurus was barely a blip on the screen.

I don't think I have ever giggled so much when reading an ebook as I did when I read this one. And I'm afraid I did skip most of the sex scenes. I don't think mer-sex books are the books for me :(

Good concept, no plot, shallow in both character development and background. Shitty time jumps.
