Let me get one thing out of the way. I realize the Daddy kink might be off putting for some, it wasn't an issue for me. I liked it here just as much as in the Pt 1, maybe even more. Kael really grew on me in this story. He's a borderline sociopath, with just about zero people skills, very strict and set in his ways who just happens to be terrified of women who come on to him and children. Amazingly enough he is still able to love those few he truly cares about, although there are plenty he would also love to kill. Angel is as adorable as ever, blossoming under his Daddy's care and picking up some pretty amazing skills along the way. I really enjoyed their dynamics, I liked that Angel was just as strong and supportive for Kael in his own way when Kael needed his boy to be and how their love and dedication for each other comes through.

A couple of quotes that stuck out although there were plenty...

1. Getting ready for Kael's surprise b-day party:
“Did you want to do the whole jumping out and shouting "surprise" thing?” Adam asked.
My Daddy shoots people who surprise him.
“That's probably not a good idea..."

2. Kael on things he cares about:
“I care a lot about some things,” Kael said. “It's important that my hits are neat and tidy. Arterial spray can be a bitch.” He laughed. “Do you know how good I feel when I get my target in the exact right spot in the center of the forehead or the brain stem? Especially if it's a sniper hit. And there's something disturbingly satisfying about sticking a scalpel in the jugular at the precise angle to avoid making a mess.”
:D
Loved the sequel, I hope there's is more of their story to come.

Fyn Alexander is clearly a fat-ist. Out of three fat characters that appeared in the novel, two of them were beaten up. This proves her anti-obesity tendencies.

Joking aside, again, another one that I liked more than I should. My bones to pick this one:

1. Everybody wants to have sex with Kael. I've compiled a list:
-Mrs. Chalmer
-Angel's mom
-Random ladies
-His students
-His boss
-Mattis Thornton

I feel so sorry for Angel. Nobody wants to have sex with him except Kael, and maybe Jack. He's so obviously unattractive.

2.I want to smack the author for the amount of time I had to read the word 'smack' in the book. It's like she doesn't actually know another verb for hitting, punching, or even beating up someone. It sounds juvenile. It sounds ridiculous. Here we have a seriously pissed off, badass, ruthless M16 assassin, and what does he want to do? He wants to smack someone.

You know what I associate smacking with? I associate it with kids and kindergarten. It's just wrong, how many times I had to read about someone (usually Kael) wanting to smack someone.

3. Kael needs to ask for his money back.

He sent Angel to college and he doesn't know who Oliver Twist is. If the author is trying to discourage education tourism to England. It's working.

4. Conran, in his monologue, sounded like he'd only lost Misha in the past few years. Espionage should be more risky than that.

5. Fyn Alexander needs to learn the value of subtleties and the non-value of coincidences. HTF did Denbigh JUST end up there? I mean, gee, is that like the biggest coincidence in this world or what? Someone Kael pissed off just had to end up showing up on the other team. Subtle.

6. Angel's split personality disorder has toned down from the first book, where he alternated between crying, tantrums, and psychoanalysing Kael. But the crackshot, Infrared vision thing still doesn't work.

7. MI6 must be broke. Mattie couldn't even spare a gun for Angel when sending him in for a high stress situation? She gives him a scalpel and that's it? Come on, woman, we know you have more than one gun so why don't you hand it over?

That's all my bones with this one. Ultimately, if you liked the first, you'll like this. Gay James Bond and BDSM, that describes it perfectly.

I didn't think it was possible for Be Brave to be even better than Angel and the Assassin. It has a much faster pace, plenty of super hot assassin action and some real blurry eyed, lovable moments. Little by little Kael is becoming more human. For the first time he has friends in his life now and his relationship with Angel is something really special. I also enjoy the bond/respect he now has with Conran, it's good he has someone at work who is willing to look out for him. Can't wait to start on Sins of the Father.

Six months after Angel and the Assassin Angel and the Assassin (Angel and the Assassin, #1) by Fyn Alexander Angel and Kael are getting to know each other better and Kael is learning to trust and as a consequence (benefit?), his heart is opening up (at least a crack) as he finds out when he's on an assignnment and finds a very young girl who was kidnapped and has been shuffled around as part of human trafficking.

Angel is still only 18 and has returned to school and at times, acts like one, but he loves and respects his Daddy and Kael in his turn, has given up his lucrative job as assassin to be a language teacher at headquarters. Which really isn't a good fit for him which led to several amusing scenes. It doesn't take long before Kael returns to the job he's excelled at.

Hot dungeon scenes and Kael finds his satisfaction with Angel, forsaking all others,

Daddy Kink Galore! So if that’s your thing, then this series and this book is right up your alley. I enjoyed the first book, but this one was a bit up and down for me resulting in a fat old MEH. I just got a bit tired of hearing “Daddy” all the time.

There were a couple scenes that were simply delicious, bdsm style. I had to look up a new instrument, the Humbler, and all I can say is “ouch.” Look it up and see if you don’t agree with me.

This one deals with human trafficking. I know it’s Real, I know it’s a huge issue and steps must be taken to eradicate it. The thing is, I don’t want it in my romance novels. So this, combined with the excessive “Daddy” turned me off. These were the “downs” for me.

So what were the “ups?” I liked how Kael seems more human, and how Angel appears to be less of a victim. I especially liked the training scene at the beginning of the book and would have enjoyed more like that. I also chuckled at the thought of Kael teaching language classes! If only we could throw things at students and slap them here!

Will I read the next one? Yes, I bought the series bundle. I’m curious to see what becomes of Angel and his ever increasing assassin-like skill set. The sex is damned hot, too!

The Romance Review

I fell in love with Kael a little more in BE BRAVE. I confess to a desire in having a Daddy. It's not as if I was abused or neglected like Angel or need a father figure. The only similarity I have with Angel is I'd like to have a strict Daddy laying down the rules and teaching me survival skills. In BE BRAVE, Kael teaches Angel more killer survival skills. Angel is one of those blessed people who have an amazing memory in addition to super keen eyesight. If only I would be blessed in this manner, too.

In BE BRAVE, we are treated to more heated dungeon scenes with Daddy Kael and Angel. Kael seems to be more on edge in this book. He's gone from protective to almost overbearingly protective of Angel. The standards for Angel to uphold are almost impossible. I wonder at how Angel can meet such exacting demands. I'm a bit intimidated. It appears as though Angel is also frightened of Kael at times. Just when we think Kael is superman and nothing can happen to him, Fyn Alexander throws us a curve ball. .

I like this. I like when my main characters are not perfect. Kael is not perfect. He's tough, exacting and very skilled. He does make mistakes. It's actually rather sad that his mistake is when he stops behaving like a machine and starts showing human qualities. What is the author trying to say here? Is it better to be human or machine? Based on the torturous captivity Kael goes through, I'm thinking I want to be a perfect machine.

I enjoyed this book more as we see greater complexity to Angel and Kael. We also see another side of Conran that explains so much. His conflicted relationship with Kael is not a surprise, but to finally have it out in the open, it heals both of them. I also liked Angel more in this book. He's growing up. He is still young in age, 19, yet he is going on 30 with his responsibilities and maturity. Yes, at times he's still a little boy, but that's the fun part of a BDSM Daddy/boy relationship. I confess I'm jealous of Angel. Kael's attention is one hundred percent on him. Kael praises Angel, which makes my heart melt. Too bad Kael doesn't want a little girl, too.

One thing that really moves me in this book is the contrast between Angel and Kael's mothers. Both women were in situations where they were single moms. It's interesting to see how differently they chose to raise their sons. Kael is self-confident because his mother made sure he felt loved and wanted. Angel, on the other hand, was left very insecure and unwanted. It's sad. It also makes me wonder if this lack of love as a child is what causes a person with BDSM desires lean more towards the submissive side. Regardless of Angel's formative years, his past few months with Kael has been life changing and I'd go so far as to say, life saving.

I am now emotionally vested in both Angel and Kael. I'd even admit to affection for Conran. The blurring of lines between right and wrong, good and bad in a story makes it more enjoyable for me. Fyn Alexander does an excellent job in showing many shades of grey. I recommend this book to BDSM lovers who want to read about a good D/s relationship.

Be Brave, book 2 of the Angel and the Assassin series.

Angel and the Assassin is like crack for Kindle, I swear. I fought myself from clicking the "buy" button... and lost. Angel still annoys me (although much less so in this book), but I can't get Kael out of my head.

The dynamic between Dominant Kael and his submissive boss Stephen Conran continues in this book, although even a little bit better because Kael is beginning to feel affectionate toward the other man. In fact, my favorite quote of Be Brave is when Kael says to Angel, in reference to Conran, "I feel a bit sorry for him sometimes. His job's not easy. Would you like to have to try to control a man like me?"

It perfectly sums up the characterization of each man's position.

The dungeon scenes are hot. And Kael finally gets around to teaching Angel some orgasm control, which let me tell you - has been way overdue. I'm awfully tired of Angel's, "I came without permission again, I'm so sorry, Daddy" in every sex scene.

So all in all - there is a sense in Be Brave that some progress is being made toward Kael's goal of making a man out of Angel.

Be Brave did not have the constant "daddy daddy daddy" thing from Angel that annoyed me to no end in book 1, but don't think you can skip the first one and jump right into this one - Be Brave would NOT be effective as a stand-alone, so if you're going to come on this journey, you have to read Angel and the Assassin first or you'll be leaping into the dungeon fully clothed, and you'll miss the full impact of the thing. Trust me, the gentle flogging of book 1 is a required precursor to book 2.

I wonder how many days I can hold out before buying book 3?

This series just does it for me. I never thought I would be into the Daddy kink, but it just works with Angel and Kael. They have great chemistry and although Kael is definitely not warm, his feelings for Angel shine through. I even liked Conran in this one. Loved seeing Angel's development as well as his continued devotion to Kael shown through his obedience, attentiveness, and respect. Can't wait to read book 3!

I loved the first book, but this one was unbelievably good. Ok, Fyn Alexander, you have a huge new fan. Anyone who can take an assassin ( especially one as mean and bad with people) as Kael and make you love him is a great writer. I usually hate the Daddy kink but it didn’t bother me at all. I love Kael and Angel and hope there are many more stories to come.

After the first book I really thought I am going to love reading this one and I did like it to a extend but cant say I loved it.It had everything but what got into my nerves was the "daddy Kink" it irritated me after sometime.I think.....I did a mistake of reading the second story right after the first and instead of enjoying the kink I got irritated and felt as if the author overdid the whole issue.
So now about the characters,Kael was as usual a jerk but a bit softer version and completely in love with Angel.Kinder to others and more tolerant too.
Angel Can a name be more cheesy for a twink...acted brave in this story but became irritatingly sissy when in front of daddy aka Kael.
Some new characters are introduced in this story which made the plot interesting to read.Though while reading this story I could recall lots of movies with similar plots but it did have a new feel to it as the author put little unexpected twist and turns to the plot.

I loved being able to see the continuation of Kael and Angel’s relationship in this sequel. It felt like they both matured in different ways, but it was Kael that took the spotlight for coming out of his shell. Now, some might laugh at that description. Really? The big bad assassin coming out of his shell? Well, yeah, in terms of owning up to the fact that he wasn’t perfect at everything and showing so much more emotion with respect to Angel. I literally LMAO at Kael’s lack of “people skills” and almost comical fear of women as portrayed in this book, but I also felt a tug on the heartstrings when Kael risked his life on unofficial business, thawed a little bit toward Conran, and melted when in the presence of “his boy”. I still have a smile on my face – fantastic!!!

Great, but I wanted to kick Kael a couple times myself. Angel is the big winner in this one with the character growth. I liked seeing Kael's teaching techniques and smiled--yeah...probably why I wouldn't make a good teacher. Conran also develops nicely as do Freddie and Adam. Can't wait to read number 3.

Favorite quote:

Kael shrugged. “I've always been rogue. I've always followed my own path.”

“I understand that, but there's a fine line between a trained assassin and a psychopath, and I was afraid you were approaching that line after Misha went. After she died, I was certain you had crossed it.(2239-2241).

I was a bit worried after seeing reviews where people who loved the first book ended up not liking this sequel.

Turns out I still enjoyed this story.

Kael has definitely had his edges softened by love. I wouldn't say that Angel has Kael completely wrapped around his little finger but Kael is more lenient and more relaxed. Now that their relationship has stabilised, we get to see them interact more in a more casual setting.

We get introduced to new characters. This was a good move as it kept the story moving and made it more interesting.

This has a softer edge in comparison to the first book. People who enjoyed some of the gritty, raw passion from the first book may feel disappointed by this domesticated continuation.

I liked this one much more than the first. The same realism issues apply in this one but the focus isn't on their meeting so it is easier to dismiss. Kael is still pretty cold but he is warming up. He has a good friend with a family and his relationship with Conran is changing as well. It makes him much more "human" and likable. Angel is still immature in lots of ways but he isn't a brat in this one. Angel is maturing more and filling into his role in Kael's life. The writing is very good. If there is another book I would read it:)

Even better than the first one! Kael becomes more human here and we start to understand him. Angel matures enough so that he does not have the feel of a teenager as much. His naivete and innocence in certain things here is believable. The action in the story was good and did not become too much at any point. Even Conran mellows a bit and I really enjoyed seeing how Angel and his relationship affects how Kael sees other people. The next door neighbor who wants Kael is hilarious - lough out loud funny in many places. Cannot wait to read book 3!

Daddy and Angel. Angel and Daddy. Fun storytelling. The only thing that burns my buns is the Kael adoration - everyone loves him. Come on! Apart from that, this is pure (kinky) escapism.

I'm so happy I gave the first book a second chance, after skipping parts of it due to it being too scary for me. This was even more scary but I managed (not my finger nails though). I love this couple. The dynamic is great, with Angel being both immature and mature depending on time and setting. I'm not even gonna try and analyze the syndromes Kael may suffer from. I still love him. :)

I liked this story even more than the first, Angel and the Assassin since this was more about their relationship as it matured, as well as more focused on Angel himself.

Kael is retired as an M-16 agent, and he's teaching language and self-defense to trainees. He's highly knowledgeable and skilled, unfortunately his people skills are lacking-- severely lacking. When he acts out on his students one too many times, he's removed as the language teacher, told that students don't expect to be hurt during a simple language class, and encouraged to focus more on the self-defense classes.

In the meantime, Angel is enrolled in a private college and plans to attend University as soon as he achieves his Class A's. He wants to be just like Daddy, working for SIS as an agent. Kael wants him safely in a desk job. However, Kael is also aware that Angel is intelligent, and he's been teaching him self-defense as well as taking him on class outings to test his skills and is impressed with Angel's abilities.

When Kael reluctantly accepts another SIS job, he discovers that it makes him feel alive in a way he hasn't felt since retiring and decides that he can do some work part time, but won't leave Angel for any extended period of time. Their relationship has developed and matured over the time they've been together and Kael loves Angel with all his heart.

Angel goes looking for Kael when he hasn't returned from a mission, nor has he contacted Angel, during the time frame Kael established before he left. This was an exciting period in the story as we get to see Angel use his smarts and the skills Kael's taught him to rescue Kael.

I enjoyed this book more because there was more character substance to it, especially more about Angel's character and the bond forming between the two men. We also got a chance to learn more about Kael's past and about Misha, his fellow trainee and best friend when he joined SIS, and a woman who strongly impacted his life. We also see Angel's mother and stepfather and the resulting pain that reunion causes for Angel and the anger it causes in Kael.

There's just not enough I can say about this book to give it justice. I am rating it 4.5 stars because it wasn't perfect, but close to it and I'd highly recommend it to my friends.

How does an elite, exquisitely trained assassin fall in love? After years of working for the Queen as an undercover operative: living for himself, living for the kill, an almost automaton, killing, training, moving from casual hookups to bdsm-play and start all over again, how does Kael re-make himself to allow his love and devotion to another? He pulls himself out of the field and takes a desk job teaching foreign languages...seems the best thing to do, right? But Kael is restless -- a caged tiger. In this second installment of the ‘Angel and the Assassin’ series, 18 year old Angel has been living with Kael for six months. Angel is deeply in love and Kael is all he has in the world. How can an assassin continue to risk himself, spending weeks away stalking and taking out the bad guys with this heavy responsibility to another? Here lies the crux of this edition in Angel and Kael’s story.

Angel gives Kael all his love and is a devoted slave. And he is loved back; he attends college, wants for nothing, has the ‘daddy’ that he desperately needs to shower all his respect and admiration on. This is what makes this book for me: the deepening commitment between the two and the adjustments they are willing to make to forge a strong relationship. Oh, and the scenes between them in the dungeon are smoking hot and sweetly sensual as Kael continues to train Angel in the role he seems born for.

The conundrum here is that Kael also continues to train Angel in self-defense -- he wants him to be able to protect himself. Angel is now a crack shot, has super quick reflexes, keen perception, has an ability with foreign languages, and the physical endurance of undercover agents much older than himself. He is a natural and longs to partner Kael in the field. But Kael fears for his safety and refuses to discuss Angel’s becoming an assassin. However, we see that once again, Angel is forced into the field to prove himself. What to do?

I find Alexander's writing very stripped down and crisp, there is no cloying sentimentality, no histrionics, no angstifuncation. If Angel’s dialogue can sometimes seem immature, it fits with his character -- he is still a very young man growing into himself. Alexander gives us two sympathetic, larger than life characters that we can connect with. Kael, who could very easily become a cartoon figure, comes into his own as a deeply complex, multilayered character. These books are great fun to read and have a special place on my shelf.

I love how Kael is slowly changing from a cold-hearted, cold-blooded assassin to a caring, feeling guy. The surprise birthday party that Angel threw for him was so sweet. It was funny to see how awkward he was around his friend's little girls. This had a good mix of action, kink and sexy times.

I got my wish! After reading the first book in the series (which I highly recommend reading before reading this book), I said in my review that I hoped that Angel would mature and stop being so annoying. Well, he did. I really love Angel now and I am excited to see where the author is going with that character. I also love all of the secondary characters, especially Conran. Turns out he's not the wimpy, little guy that I thought he was in Angel and the Assassin. He actually has a backbone and is a loyal friend.

I look forward to the next book in the series. I'm hoping that there is more assassin/spy action and that Angel can be a part of it.

Angel and the Assassin 2: Be Brave the continued story of Angel and Kael truly amazed me. I didn’t know there was more of their life coming, and that there was and it showed so much more growth both within Kael and within Angel was outstanding. Fyn Alexander outdid himself with this work. In this sequel we got to see a timid young boy grow and mature and come into his own under the loving yet patient hand of his master.

There are so many great things to remark on that I’m having a hard time voicing them. What I do want to say is…seeing a deeper side of Kael, an emotional side and peeling apart the layers into his entire self, it made my heart melt. I think that the two diverse males with polar opposite personalities continued to grow in love and support each other. You didn’t just see a boy with his daddy, you saw a perfect match transcending level of intimacy and trust that’s hard to find but worth the work it takes to have.

I’m going to have to put this on the keeper shelf with the first installment.

I was thrilled to see that Kael and Angel have another story. I know the Daddy/boy scenario is not for every reader, but this author does a fabulous job with the characters' relationship. Kael was not always easy to like in the first book, but his love and caring for Angel is evident and is also what makes him redeemable. As book 2 progresses, Kael's influence on Angel is evident; however, it is also obvious that Angel brings out Kael's humanity, something with which Kael is not quite comfortable. I was happy to see his character evolve.

I'd love to see a third book in this series.

And so the story of Kael & Angel continue. This is a heavy Dom/ sub theme and is not suited to those who can't cope with the Daddy fetish.
Kael honors his promise to save a little girl from the sex trafficking trade and ends up on the other end of the rescue. Angel uses his new skills to save Kael and proves he is more than a desperately needy sub
