In Quest of the Universe [with CD-ROM]
In Quest of the Universe, Fourth Edition is a comprehensive introduction to astronomy designed for non-science majors. The book uses the development of astronomical theories, both historical and current, to show how science works. The authors take a "planets first" approach, engaging students with an exploration of our own solar system before moving on to the stars and then to distant galaxies. With accessible writing, stunning images, and up-to-date content, In Quest of the Universe, Fourth Edition sparks a curiosity about our universe.

Such an interesting read.
As an amateur astronomer whenever the sky is just so for observation, I jumped at the chance of taking a semester of astronomy at university. Sometimes course books can be daunting yet I jumped straight into this one. Covering a huge array of space related topics, this book is everything you need to get through an astronomy course (covering both the general physics you need along with the astronomy specific details).
A great read for space lovers.

Interesting subject. I think that this was my favorite class this year. Of course, knowing that I got an A in the course, even without taking the final is a bonus!

If there was a way to make simple concepts, let alone complicated ones, more confusing and convoluted, this textbook managed it.
