ROGUE FOR A NIGHT, Jenna Petersen's follow up novella to her novel 'Her Notorious Viscount' is a tender and heart-warming story of two people from different worlds who must overcome their own uncertainties before they can find true happiness.

Managing part of the estate of his friend Nicholas, Viscount Stoneworth, is a far cry from Ronan ‘Rage' Riley's humble beginnings and his former life as a pugilist in London's underworld. Now he frequently mixes with the wealthy and the elite but he never feels at ease in ‘the trappings of a gentleman'. When Nicholas's wife, Jane, returns from a trip to London, she is accompanied by the woman who has haunted his dreams for so many years, Lucinda Stoneworth. He had wanted her from the first moment he saw her!

Lucinda has devoted her life to her children since her husband, Anthony, died two years ago. Her sister-in-law, Jane, convinces her that she needs a little time to herself and persuades Lucinda to spend a few weeks with her and Nicholas at their estate. Rather reluctantly, she agrees. Lucinda is surprised to find that Ronan Riley is also staying. Although she has met him a few times before, she cannot understand why meeting him now leaves her thrown off balance.

Unable to deny their growing mutual attraction, they soon fall headlong into a passionate affair. Their feelings for each other deepen but can there ever be any long-term future for two people from such different worlds?

I absolutely loved this novella! There are no dangers threatening the hero and heroine and no great hidden secrets, just a captivating story of two people falling in love. However, there are obstacles to overcome because the story has one of my favourite scenarios: the hero and heroine are from different social worlds.

I adore Ronan because he is the quintessential hero -- honorable, caring, and the fact that he is still a little rough around the edges makes him even sexier. His idea of venting his frustrations is to indulge in a no holds barred bout of bare-chested fisticuffs with Nicholas. I love Jane's reaction when she finds them fighting:

Jane sighed and stomped across the room, putting herself between them. "Gentlemen, corners!" she snapped.

Ronan's honorable nature is reflected in the way in which, although attracted to Lucinda in the past, he never pursued her because she was married to his best friend's brother. Whenever they make love, he is always careful to protect her from becoming pregnant.

I love the little touches such as the way his gaze follows Lucinda up the stairs, his fear of her reaction when he first kisses her and his nervousness about meeting her children for the first time. They make him so endearing.

I find Lucinda delightful and really think she deserves a second chance at love. I can certainly understand why she is initially intrigued by Ronan because he is totally different from any man within her social circle. At first, she's taken by surprise by her attraction to him:

And yet today the slightest brush of his hand in hers had made her stomach do flips and she felt hot and strange. Perhaps this was a fever brought on by travel?

When Ronan tells her that they can never have anything more than this affair between them, it is easy to feel her hurt which is made even more acute because she thinks Ronan has indulged in the affair because he pities her. I admire her for being willing to openly declare her love for Ronan regardless of the consequences and her words to him are so poignant:

"I have learned the hard way that love is fleeting. In a moment, it can be snatched away and leave only pain and heartache. But it is worth the risk, worth any risk. So I won't hide it or lie about it. I want to celebrate it and feel it and share it and proudly declare it any time I desire to do so. Otherwise I'll lead only a half-life."

I think Ms Petersen excels in writing the love scenes because she succeeds in combining sensuality with a mood of intimacy. It made me believe that the affair is not just about sex:

They made love and afterward they lay together and talked in the firelight about their lives, about her children, even about the mundane activities of the day.

The Epilogue is a charming touch because it brings the story to a satisfying conclusion.

If a wonderfully romantic story with a gorgeous hero and an endearing heroine appeals to you, then you will certainly enjoy ROGUE FOR A NIGHT.

Jenna Petersen brings yet another hot escapist story with Rogue for a Night. This regency historical romance is a rather short read, but full of steamy romance that I just couldn't put down.

Lucinda Stoneworth is a lonely widow of London's high Society, who lost her beloved husband two years prior. She's now raising their two young daughters on her own. Her late husband's twin brother Nicholas (Stone), and his wife Jane invite her to stay with them at their country home for a while. She reluctantly leaves her children with their grandparents and joins them.

Ronan (Rage) Riley, who lived a previous life alongside Stone as an underground boxer, is now living among the aristocracy. As Stone's estate manager, he is begrudgingly obliged to attend the social functions of his employer. Of course, he is present when Lucinda arrives at the country estate. He's always had an eye for her, but never acted upon it while Lucinda was married (and obviously in love with) her husband.

From their first reunion, the two of them share an immediate attraction, and begin a secret affair during Lucinda's stay at the estate. Both of them know that Society's expectations say a woman of her status and a man of his should not be together. But, when they realize how much they love each other, they both have to choose whether to follow their hearts and ignore the social stigmas.

As with all of Jenna's reads, the writing is fluid, the love scenes are steamy, and the romance is heart-warming. If I had to nitpick something, I would have liked them to overcome a few more obstacles and perhaps utilize Rage's former boxing talents a little more.

My verdict: If you want a fast, compelling, hot romance, pick up Jenna Petersen's Rogue for a Night, available in Kindle version on Amazon.com and in Nook version at Barnes and Noble. You won't be disappointed.

Lovely read !

"You started this game, Lucinda," he murmured. "You toyed and teased and now you pay."
Her eyes widened as she realized what a dangerous position she was truly in. She had played with fire, seduced with a master of seduction. And his revenge was clearly to be this slow, heated pleasure that tore through her veins and made her long to beg for more... more of him, more of this, more feeling.

"Rogue for a Night" is the second book in the Stoneworth Series but it can be read as a stand alone. It's a very sweet and sensuous read that's a bit short for my taste but it certainly makes up for it with a good storyline.

Ronan "Rage" Riley is a former boxer with a mysterious background who is currently working for his best friend Anthony Stoneworth as an estate manager. They are friends since their young mischievous days when they fought for a living, each for a different reason and purpose.

Ronan has liked Lucinda Stoneworth, wife of his best friend's brother for a couple of years now but he never acted upon his urges because she was married and in love with her husband. Unfortunately, her husband died two years ago in a riding accident and now Lucinda decided to spend a month at Anthony's estate whereas her two daughters would be at their grandparents' estate so she could get some alone time to gather her strength and get some rest.

Two years after her husband's death, Lucinda was out of mourning and Rage has a difficulty staying away from her. He knows he shouldn't approach her since she is way above his league considering social status, also she is a widow of his best friend's brother. Everything is working against him but his feelings that he kept so neatly stored away for all these years came spilling out with a vengeance.

Lucinda is trying to find her place in her family and in the Society. She feels as though she isn't a part of anything anymore. And her young daughters of age four and eighteen months demand her full attention. Now, as she finally manages to catch some break, she realizes how certain man called Rage makes her feel. She feels things she hasn't felt for a long time. And she feels intoxicated with it.

A beautiful story that revolves around a fairly young widow that not only lost her husband and was left with two young children, but her husband's brother is his twin. She has to see his face over and over again, kissing and holding someone else in his arms. It must have been agonizing. I can't even imagine how that scenario would play out if it were to happen to me.

Lucinda is a very capable woman, whom despite being high-raised has an inner strength and wisdom and the will to overcome difficulties on her own. I admire that. Especially being raised as a gentle flower that might crush under the stronger wind.

Considering twins, Lucinda had remarkable strength being able to be around Anthony so often and so soon after her husband's premature departure. I would most definitely kept my distance. It's a crazy situation. You know it's a different person of course but seeing that face day after day knowing you will never be able to hold it and kiss it ever again... chilling...

When it comes to Rage, his character is that of a person born in poverty but through pain and struggle and determination he managed to overcome all obstacles and become a respectable man of some wealth who moves in high circles. Even though he never feels comfortable in a cravat and at a ball. He's a half ruffian, half gentleman. That perfect combination makes him dangerous just enough to get lost in the lust and desire.

Lucinda and Rage work great as a pair. I love them. They found love at the most unexpected time in their lives. They completed each other in a way most couples never could despite being together for decades even.

The children completed this emotional tale beautifully. They added depth to Lucinda's character and revealed a lot of hidden emotions in Rage.

I gave this book for stars because I think it's a bit too short, not just in a sense of not having enough pages but in a sense that some scenes felt cut off. Particularly, the scene where Rage believes Lucinda wants to marry some noble and doesn't want anything to do with him. It was resolved too quickly. We should have suffered a bit more, agonize over the confusion and the inability to finally come clean. That small build-up is missing. It's the same with the ending when they separate and then too soon after resolve the issue. The build-up is what makes great scenes.

All in all, I recommend this book for all the regency romance lovers who are in a need of a good, short, quick read that has depth as well as a sizzling affair. You are going to love the main characters, I guarantee it.

Stars 3/4 (Kate Pearce, Maureen Driscoll, Elisa Braden)

Hey fellow readers I don’t summarize the books (as there are always great full summaries written that I read myself).

I only give it my personal, general, summary of 5 stars to 1 star.

3 stars: This book is worth a read but didn’t really have me excited about interacting with the book where I could not put it down. It lacks the excitement and well roundness of my personal markers for a great read throughout the book.

Development and interest in main characters, secondary characters, humorous, movement of the book, writing/conversation and romantic/sexual content (1-2 scenes or too much unnecessary).

Read it once and that is enough for me.

However, if this book is part of a series, I would read the next book (pervious book) in the series as it would still peek my reading interest.

I’ll continue reading from this author. I wouldn’t cross the author out of my potential reads in the future.

Well the 2nd book of the Stoneworth series. I loved it! This is very short reading that covered everything. I just hoped that in the fist book of this series there is a brief encount of the h/h. Nonetheless the book started out fine andgended it with a great epilogue. Since it is a fast read the attraction of the heroin to hero is instant. For the hero who likes the heroine from the start, it's somewhat very used and common scscenarios in the HR books. I just hoped its not always like that.

In spite of it, I enjoyed this book. Took me to finish soon and I am craving more of their story. I really wich Patrick have a story. The cousin of the heroine at the first book. For me I am giving it a 4 stars.

The book was OK. The writing was somewhat uninspired. The main story conflict was resolved very easily. I liked the characters, but somewhat parts of them just didn't quite add up. Worth reading, but just OK.
