In a desperate move, Brigid defeated the witches, but now she is stuck in Faerie with zero ideas, or the power, to get back home. At least her cat and her bestie are with her.

But they're not the only ones she accidentally transported. The coven's head witch, Sofia, has also disappeared into the Fae realm. If Brigid had any luck, a wild Fae creature would eat Sofia, but Brigid's luck ran out years ago.

Lost in a foreign realm, Brigid has to navigate the Fae court without insulting anyone or inadvertently causing a civil war. She's going to need her great-grandfather's help to get her out of this pickle, but her arrival has also placed him in jeopardy...
Now it's a deadly race. Who will get back to Earth first and keep Brigid's power forever?

Jilleen Dolbeare is the author of the Shadow Winged Chronicles, an urban fantasy series about a shape-shifting bush pilot in Alaska.

She loves riding horses, warm ocean beaches, and long walks in the mountains, none of which she can do in the Arctic, so she writes.

Her activities are riding her four-wheeler on cold ocean beaches (often frozen or covered with ice), and long walks to and from work when it’s 40 below—in the dark. She does keep her stakes sharp for those vamps that show up during the 67 days of night.

Jilleen lives with her husband and two hungry cats in Barrow, Alaska where she also discovered her love and admiration of the Inupiaq people and their folklore.

With the ending in the last book, I couldn't get my hands on this book fast enough!

So, after the dramatic events in the previous book, you'd think Brigid was able to take a breath and you'd be so wrong! Suddenly, mysteriously, for Brigid at any rate, they find themselves in the Fae Realm. Not to a great reception at all! Prodded, poked and propelled forward by Centaur guards, they find themselves in the presence of the King. Where things go from bad to worse, rapidly, accused, imprissioned, no way back to Earth, forced into a marriage, all while her magic is depleted I'd say is worse! However.... seeing all this unfold adds an element of adventure, of drama and woohoo, just seeing Brigid rise to the occassion is the best!

Loved how Brigid's dreadful experience at the hands of her dreadful ex-husband comes in handy, all the pain she suffered being used to her advantage. I literally said "atta girl". What resonates with me is that no matter how much someone tries to put one down, no matter how insecure the actions of the abuser are, there's a spark of strength and watching Brigid's spark become a raging fire was a beautiful experience. So was seeing her magic get stronger, although, if we asked Dana, we'd get a very lukewarm, "hmmfff, serviceable" Come to Dana! Geez! Brigid had so much to learn in a very short period of time! But I do admit to loving Dana's stoicism, which makes it so much more fulfilling when we get a glimpse of a kink in her armour.

It really was a very engaging read, following Megan's reactions, who BTW, I'm a huge fan of. Also seeing Mr Muffins in a different light, well that was interesting! He's the best kitty a gal can have! Ok, he's not really a kitty, he just looks like one at times, but I wouldn't say no to him being my friend and protector. In all honesty, this book really had my inner juices flowing, I was ready to spew a ball of fire at Sophia, or ice daggers, although, even I was content at her, umm, punishment? Yeah, let's go with that! I have a whole new Brigid to look forward to in the next book, a Brigid who has all her missing pieces, and I can't wait to see what and how she's do with them! Roll on book 4!!!!

Yikes that's not where Brigid wanted to be, even if her best friend and her cat are with her! Fae land is where they landed in a fight with the witches back home. Learning how to get all three of them back home leads to some pretty interesting magical magic! At the same time she has to learn Queen ways - and to know why you need to read Splintered Fate.

In the previous book, Brigid finds most of her missing magic. The only things left are air and of course the ice Sofia stole from her. She also gained a new resident of her forest lands, a dragon named Goch has now obtained sanctuary from Brigid. With her new knowledge of her magic she was able to defeat the witches, but in the process, she has transported Mr. Mittens, Megan, Sofia and herself to Fairie. Sofia runs and the rest of them do as well. Unfortunately, they run out of forest and are surrounded.

This book opens as they are forced down the hill by Centaurs to the castle of the High King. Only slightly reassured by Mr. Mittens, that the High King does indeed know her great grandfather.

While they are being paraded to the castle Brigid is worrying about those left behind and also what havoc Sofia could cause here. Mr. Mittens shrinks to his ragdoll form as they enter the castle and staying very close to her. He seemed afraid.

Once at her grandfather's Keep, Brigid explains the circumstances that brought them here. The situation with the King is a delicate one for her grandfather.

It seems the King is looking for a consort, one with magic worthy to be Queen. His choice of course is Brigid. Even though it seems Sofia has found a way to throw her hat into that ring.

Queen lessons for Brigid, magic lessons, plotting to find an assassin, are just a few things in this book that will keep you turning the pages.

We also learn much about Mr. Mittens' background, and Dana her grandfather's mistress of Magics as well. There is also a most unexpected ending.

I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

‘Splintered Fate’ is a very satisfying conclusion to the Splintered Magic trilogy. This book had it all – a lot of action, magic, alternative worlds, and suspense. It picks up where ‘Splintered Veil’ leaves off, with Brigid, Megan and Mr. Mittens being captured by a group of warrior centaurs (never thought I’d have a need for that phrase!). It turns out that Brigid has accidentally “stepped” them across the realms and into Faerie, where they are being arrested by the King’s guards. The chapters in Faerie were really enjoyable; I loved the descriptions of the architecture, food and clothes. It was beautifully and clearly imagined, and the relationships developing between Brigid and various Fae that she could barely comprehend when she first arrived were realistic and rewarding.

This is a fast paced and entertaining book, and I loved seeing the insecure divorcee we met in the first book become a confident, competent magic user and a capable warrior. And Brigid isn’t the only one who grows: Megan also becomes a skilled fighter and brawls like a Valkyrie in the final battle, even as she throws Monty Python insults at opposing combatants. I highly recommend this trilogy for a very fun, fast paced read!

SURPRISES!!

Man, this book is filled with so many surprises. Some good, some bad, some crazy! It was beautiful! And even with some of the gory guts- I loved it- and death, this turned into a beautiful ending! I gotta say, I got nervous for a little while. I wasn’t sure things were gunna turn out ok. But, with some excellent twists and turns, this author worked some magic of her own!! I’ve definitely become a fan!!

This series keeps getting better and better!

I thought the Ms. Dolbeare had reached her peak with the last book but I was so wrong. I have read three books in three days, thank you summer. Some times in series they start to fail once you are hooked on a series but that is not the case here. Each book draws you in with more magic and mystery. Enjoy!

Unputdownable

Splintered Fate is the latest in the Splintered Magic series and here we pick up with the protagonist in Faerie surrounded by Centaurs. As they make their way to the Castle of the King we learn more about Fae history and how Brigid’s grandfather fits in this magical realm. With the witch Sofia in faerie also the King decides to make Brigid his Queen much to her dismay. Lessons galore in magic and some detective work to find the Kings true enemy lead to home and a battle for the land she now loves. Great story and characters and a very fast read because I didn’t want to put it down.

OMG Brigid and co find themselves stuck in fae land after the battle with the witches and have been left with no way home but at least they have each other including the talking cat! What more could go possibly go wrong? Yep apparently a lot!! It’s a fun addition to this fantastic series full of magic, drama and adventure and there’s so much going on that you find yourself glued to the pages as we watch Brigid find her way round the fae court amongst other things. I am loving this series and Brigid just continues to grow and gets stronger and I cannot wait for the next book!

I fell in love with this series a couple of days ago when I started reading Splintered Magic and all three books in the series have been awesome. In Splintered Fate, book three, Jilleen Dolbeare creates whole wonderful world of Faerie for us to explore along with Brigid and Megan. (This is NOT a spoiler). Court intrigue endangers the traveling trio that includes a certain and unique cat as well as Brigid's Great Grandfather whole lives in that realm. The need to stay for some time stresses the group but also provides much needed time for Brigid's talents to grow. Fun and suspenseful.

This one is the best of the series so far, in my opinion!! You get to see the land of Faerie, meet and get to know so many characters including her grandpa and Dana. There is drama, intrigue, and beautiful fae clothing and delicious food, and naturally, scandal, when you find yourself in the castle of a fae king!

Will she beat sofia? Will she find all her magic? Will she accidentally get married to the Fae King? So many answers!

Ties the story together beautifully until the next installment: Splintered Haven.

Seriously, this one was so fun and interesting to read!

Really fun, though definitely a change from the first books in the series. This continues Brigid’s story right where the last one ended-accidentally realm walking into a whole new world. Don’t worry-Mr Mittens is still there to protect her! All’s well that ends well, and I can’t wait to read the next one.

Splintered Fate

The ending of a good trilogy. All three books were well written. Characters were interesting and developed nicely. Plenty of action along with good suspense. Really liked how Brigid learned her magic. Would like to see another series with these characters. Recommended.

I loved it, as always. This time, the characters faced new challenges as they were transported into a whole new world. It was nice to get to explore this new place with the MC and her friends and to see the dynamic of this other world. Humor is great, especially the references from Monty Pythons that cracked me up. And, of course, our purrfectly lovable but dangerous Mr. Mittens.

Fun Fae witch mash up

I really enjoyed this series, the combo of Fae lore and modern earth witches is fun and makes for a great romp through magic lands . That Brigid and Megan are fairly clueless but well meaning makes it even more fun. Good read.

The mysteries continue apace!

Adventures in Fairies as the Fae King decides Brigid is going to be his next bride, although he seems to be the only one who thinks that. I look forward to the next in this series.

I absolutely loved this book, which finished off the story arc with Sofia, the nasty, evil witch brilliantly! After the fight with the witches at the end of the previous book, Splintered Veil, Brigid, Megan and Mr Mittens find themselves in Faerie. Not the best place to have realm walked too, but unfortunately Sofia also came along for the ride. Brigid's hoping that something fae will eat her out in the woods, but Brigid is never THAT lucky!

After being captured by a group of female centaurs, the group are taken to the High King, but on the plus side, the king's commander just happens to be Brigid great grandfather! Her thinking that this situation can now be easily resolved is soon dashed when Brigid finds she is without magic now (the realm walk drained her, but it will come back!) and the king now wants to marry her to solidify his loyalty with her grandfather!

Faerie is not an easy world to navigate. There's many customs and rules that Brigid and Megan have to learn and soon things take a turn for the worse! Now Brigid has to save herself, her grandfather and the king before learning how to realm walk home again and stop the witches once and for all.

I loved the big battle at the end and traps they set for Sofia and her Swamp Lord's army. I bet she wasn't expecting any of that to happen! Loved how Mr Mittens dealt with her too!

Brigid is great character. Although she lived many a year in an abusive marriage, she has grown and learnt so much from it, that has now made her stronger and fiercer. No more will she be walked over and made to cower down. She will always stand up for what she believes in and for those she loves! I love how her and Gabe seem like they fit perfectly together and Megan is such a fantastic friend too!

Looking forward to reading the rest of this series now and seeing what they will all come up against now the witches are gone for good, but this was a great one to end the year on!
