"Canadian 100" is a compilation of small biographies featuring 100 of the most influential Canadians of the 20th century. As with any "list of the most influential", there are bound to be head-scratching choices and puzzling omissions (such as Leonard Cohen). Many names will be unknown to the average Canadian today, partly those who are isolated in Quebec culture (who in the world is Gilles Vigneault???) The biographies are brief - usually around 3 pages in length, so they only cover the essentials of the featured figure. If you're interested in learning about famous Canadians and their impact, this is a handy book to read.
I don't buy that these are THE most influential Canadians, but this is an interesting and quick way to learn about a wide variety of people from coast to coast to coast. What kept nagging me while reading was the impact that we all have on our spheres of influence, and our ability to make our wonderful nation and world a better place in some way.
They included a race horse. Based upon that, I would say this maybe is not a great compilation of the MOST influential Canadians of the twentieth century, but it is still an interesting collection of biographies and an okay read if you are interested in learning about the influence of Canadians in the last century..
