For the first time, the Sphinx of Formula One opens up about his family, his success, his assessment of the other drivers and the state of Formula One, and his insider’s view of Ferrari in a handsome, photo-packed volume. Michael Schumacher is undoubtedly the greatest Formula One driver of his generation.
Followed Schumacher all the way through his F1 career. His first drive for Eddie Jordan though unspectacular due to car failure truely showed the talent in the man. A book boyhbfor fans of Schumi and F1 buffs alike.
This was poorly written for the most part, with some terribly flowery language that seemed to be written by someone who understands nothing about F1 or racing in general.
However, most of the book was photos and some of these were interesting enough, but this is in no way a biography.
I bought this back in 2004, around the time Schumacher was clinching yet another title for the 7th time. The amount of people who cared was clearly reflected in the price and the fact that I found it in the marked down bin. I bought it for $5 Australian from an original ridiculous price of $60 and even then I feel ripped off. There is really nothing in this ‘book’ that you haven’t heard or read before, nothing to justify its ‘Inside Story’ promise anyway. They kept a very short amount of text at the beginning of the book and then off loaded a large amount of Schumacher photos for the rest, either by design or just pure laziness who knows. Personally, I’d rather read a lot more inside information we didn’t know on how Schumacher’s Ferrari ticks than pictures of him with his shirt off, but maybe they are only giving what a majority of his fan demographic want.
