I really enjoyed this book. It was relatable and gave me good insights on how to identify and then speak to people in ways that are more successful given their particular personality traits. Some of the anecdotes in the book are also quite humorous, as are some of the things he talks about if you ever get to see him speak. This is one of a very few "motivational" type books that I have actually found value in, and there are lessons in it for anyone that would be interested in relating to others successfully.
overly christian for me. quotations from Dr. James Dobson turn me right off. And bible quotations... There was a story about his daughter asking to be spanked which was really creepy.
I like the basic info, but find the DISC designations to be overly complicated, why not use type 1, 2, 3, 4? DISC is somewhat meaningless for me.
I prefer Carol Tuttle's similar work (some say similar to the point of plagarism). Her work is more engaging for me - her 1,2,3,4 types are easier for me to connect with and organize in my very Type 1 (I) brain.
Despite the author being a pastor, I don't think this book would be irritating for the non-religious-minded to read. Bible verses quoted were relevant to the subject matter, and I found the subject matter fascinating. If you are at all interested in cracking the conundrum that is human nature, or even just gaining some perspective on why we're all so different and why it can be so IRRITATING... I highly recommend reading this book.
This book teaches you how to understand different peoples personalities, and how to motivate different types of personalities. MUST READ. I guarantee this book will not dissapoint.
This is top notch! It goes hand-in-hand with taking the DISC personality test. I have carried what I have learned from this book into every aspect of my life.
