You Can't Eat a Princess!
It's Princess Spaghetti's birthday, but her father King Cupcake has been kidnapped by aliens! Without a moment to spare, Princess cranks up the royal rocket ship and zooms into space on a rescue mission. In record time, she discovers the offending group of aliens just as they are about to turn her father into a vat of soup. But how can one tiny little princess overtake an entire group of aliens? And what on earth could chocolate have to do with any of it?

Weird. Like watching mtv for me now. Too many things going on all at once and none of them are explained.

This book is full of bold colours, the image are cute and engaging, and it’s about a girl saving the day, but that’s about all it has going for it.
The princess is getting ready for her birthday, making sure she has many chocolate treats; chocolate spread sandwiches, extra thick chocolate milkshake, and an enormous chocolate birthday cake. But then she discovers her father is missing, and the aliens who took him left a ransom note.
All the guards are doing other things, like knitting a jumper for a teddy and curling their hair, so the princess goes herself. She takes the royal rocket and, when it begins to spin out of control, she lands on the nearest planet, which just happens to be where the aliens live who stole her father.
When she finds her father, she saves him by throwing a tantrum and demanding, as only a princess can, that the aliens let him go.
It is only after she saves her father that the princess introduces the aliens to chocolate, so they never need eat people again.

The second book for me in this series and I am hoping there will be more Princess Spaghetti books!
This time we leave the Cupcake Kingdom and head to outerspace. King Cupcake got kidnapped once again (seems he does that often, considering in the other book he got taken by pirates and tied to the mast).
Our princess is awesome, I love how kick-ass she is. Oh, none of my soldiers will rescue my dad, oh well, then I will just have to do it myself. *presses various buttons in rocket and gets launched into space*
She was wonderful with the aliens, I can imagine they are afraid of her, she will be a fine queen one day.
The aliens were fun, I liked how they looked. The twist near the end had me laughing, I guess they never learn. :)
The illustrations were gorgeous and colourful and I really had fun looking at all the details. The 2 pages at the beginning with all the cakes/cupcakes/puddings/etc.? They made me hungry, very hungry.
However, while I liked the twist at the end, I thought there would be more to this book, now there was a twist and then bang, it ends.
All in all, this is a series of books I would recommend to everyone.

Princess Spaghetti is the only one brave enough to rescue her father from alien abduction. She introduces them to chocolate so that they won't eat people anymore.

Turns out that he has been abducted by aliens! Princess Spaghetti gets in her royal rocket and goes to save her father and bring him back in time for the party.
this is a silly, frothy, girly story that isn't very realistic (Princess Spaghetti talks the aliens into letting her father go by screaming "Now!!" in her most princessy voice. Ew.) but that girls will enjoy. I don't think this would work too well for a large storytime, because the illustrations are really detailed, but it worked pretty well for one-on-one. there isn't a whole lot of substance, though, if you care about these things.

With a name like King Cupcake, might one expect to be captured to be eaten? Princess Spaghetti is ready for her party but where is the king? A ransom note from aliens? Silly enough and kids will enjoy but it was just ok by my account.

My 5 year old can be quite anti-princessy, but after borrowing another Princess Spaghetti book from the library this one was his book from choice from the local discount book store.

My daughter and I read this story so many times now - it never wears out. Great starter into sci-fi for 2-3 year old girls.
