I have literally been reading this book for years (and I got it as a graduation present from high-school, wow!). :p I wouldn't have appreciated this book if I hadn't already taken art history and known about the art movements, artists, works, etc., decently beforehand. However, with that knowledge, it was a nice, quick, reminder of all that stuff, all in one place. I did enjoy it more as it got closure to the end, and closer to "modern" times. I think that's because I understood and related to it more, but I also think it's because the authors did as well. They could write with more knowledge and interest because it was also more relevant to them.
But, overall, a nice little over-view. And, I do believe I learned some things as well.

Kirsten Bradbury presents an innovative chronological survey of Western art, focusing on major movements and influential artists. The book’s structured approach, showcasing 240 artists alongside detailed images, helps readers grasp how art developed over time within historical contexts. It’s a valuable introductory text for art enthusiasts, students, or anyone seeking a comprehensive yet accessible overview of art history.

A tiny coffee table book consisting of colored pictures of a wide variety of famous art works, ordered by period, with brief introductions about each artist. I never received much of an art education, so this was a useful overview for me. I read it gradually over a period of several years and will likely continue to enjoy browsing it from time to time.

A detailed simplistic introduction to the History of Art, covering the major art movements of the Western World over the last two thousand years. It includes major work, text and a brief history of their life and career. A handy companion for my Bachelor of Arts studies.
