Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, I have always been intrigued by the history of the city and the south. New Orleans is unique, there is no other place like it and once you’ve lived there, you can never forget the sights, sounds and smells of the city. I am also intrigued by other countries, especially Ireland and England, probably because my ancestors were born there. So, I feel it is only natural that I have combined my love of history, New Orleans, and the British Isles in many of my novels.

EMERALD DESIRE was my first novel, published in 1985, and begins in Ireland and sweeps the reader to the French Colonial city of New Orleans. That was the first book in the Emerald Trilogy, followed by EMERALD ENCHANTMENT and EMERALD ECSTASY. Eight more books followed. I am pleased that ereads.com will eventually publish my backlist of books. At the present time EMERALD DESIRE, EMERALD ENCHANTMENT and PIRATE’S BRIDE are available on Amazon Kindle.

This is one of my favorites by this author.

While working as an accountant at bordello, Eden meets Sheamus. She agrees to marry him bc he's dying and wants someone to take care of him. His dying wish is for her to go to New Zealand and take over his half of the mine.

Let's just say his nephew is not pleased. Damon believes Eden is a gold digging whore. He will do all in his power to force her out. Enter: angst....angst...and more angst. Eventually, the two fall in love. Unfortunately, his nemesis is waiting in the shadows. The villian is obsessively in love with Eden and he brings back someone from Damon's past that could ruin everything.

First, I love the setting. Rare to find a book that takes place in New Zealand. The author describes it so well.

Second, I love all the characters. Eden was so strong and brave. Damon was stubborn but oh so sexy. The two had fantastic chemistry. I also loved the villain's sister. She starts off weak. Shy from her limp leg. Her brother forces her to marry a real SOB, even though she loves a half Mai man. It was great to watch her character grow.

Conclusion, this a very enjoyable read. I highly recommend!

I really liked this book! So far, there hasn't been a book by this author that I haven't liked, and I intend to read them all!

I liked both the H and h in this story. While I don't agree with the H keeping some important details of his past from the h, I understand why he did it. As for the h, even when she h made a wrong decision (one that so many h's make), it was for the right reason, as she thought she was doing what was best for the H, under the circumstances.

Both the OM and OW are the villains in this story, and I'm glad they both get what they deserve.

There's also a secondary story about an interracial couple which would have been a good separate book.

I recommend this one!

I'd probably give this one 2.5 stars. Overall plot, setting and conflict are the strongest elements of this book, but I found it lacking in relation to characters and romance, which was overshadowed by lust. As for the secondary intercultural couple, I didn't believe in their love story. That's probably because we got only heroine's POV.

Eden Flynn met her husband Shamus in the brothel where she worked as a bookkeeper. Upon his death she inherited his share of a gold mine in New Zealand which was partly owned by Shamus' nephew Damon. She traveled to New Zealand to claim her share only to discover that Damon's nephew didn't want her there because he thought she was a gold digging witch like his deceased wife. Eden had no intention of fallling in love with Damon.

Damon misjudged Eden more than once. He thought she was after his money like his first wife Tessa and he also assumed that since she had worked in a brothel she was experienced in sex. Far from it. Eden was virgin when he took her to bed and Eden immediately mentions love and marriage.

Then there is Jock who is a wealthy, sophisticated landowner who decides that Eden should be his and he sets out to estrange her from Damon by bringing back Damon's deceased wife, Tessa.

Eden's innocence regarding sex seemed a bit over done. Even if she was the bookkeeper in brothel it seems that she would have overheard some conversation regarding sexual intercourse between men and women. The New Zealand setting was good setting change from the usual historicals set in England.
