This is actually the fifth chapter of a much larger work on Insight meditation and vipassana (Mahasi style), written by the great Burmese master MS, who initiated the vipassana 'noting' style of meditative analysis. It is straight-forward to read and gives very practical instructions and guidance on the actual practice.

Simple in theory, extremely difficult in practice, especially for a layman.

That being said, there is no way that the practices outlined in this short book won't lead to serious understanding and control of the mind.

yep this is it. the simplest and shortest vipassana manual there is. these teachings, although seemingly simple to follow, are extraordinary powerful and transformative if applied in high dosages, ideally in intensive retreat setting. dont believe me? see for youself

Perfect nuts'n'bolts how-to on the technique of insight meditation. Something is happening? Notice it and note it mentally: that leads to awakening. Boom. Clear, simple, effective instruction.

A book of instructions, it was originally a chapter in a much bigger book of Mahasi Sayadaw. A good place to go when you have a grasp of the big picture and just need a fresh reminder on practice instructions

This is THE manual for vipassana meditation. Reread it for third time.
