This cookbook would be useful if you are looking for recipes for cute, whimsically decorated (unicorn cupcakes, burger cookies) small treats for a special occasion. The cakes, cupcakes and cookies are highly decorated and extra sweet, especially when taking the decorations into account. You could also use the scaled-down treats for portion control, if you omit some of the decoration. I think the book fulfills its purpose.

It is an attractive book with pictures for each completed treat, plus pictures of many of the steps in each recipe. Some of the treats are pictured with dollhouse sized sieves and cake servers. I think the book fulfills its purpose. Even if it all tastes awful, it is very impressive to look at. Each recipe includes a list of required tools and materials. The author claims that you don’t need much special equipment, however it appears that you do need to buy the small stuff. Sometimes the book is a little too basic “Never touch hot cookware or baking pans without proper protective gloves!” Measurements are by weight. The book has a table of contents and an index.

The pies are more to my liking than the overly sweet/decorated cupcakes, cakes and cookies. The apple pie recipe uses a single apple and you can use store bought dough. I also liked the lemon meringue pie recipe. They are adorable and not over the top decorated. The recipe calls for five 2 1/2 inch baking pans. The picture shows the author pressing the dough into what appears to be a silicone mini tart pan with six indentations (like a muffin pan). So I guess that is what she means by five baking pans.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher.

Tiny Bakes!😍 i adore mini versions of beautiful treats!
While i am not in any way a baker and trying this would mostly mean ruining something but just on a smaller scale, i would still love to try it!

The whole idea of mini utensils and little decorated cakes are so cute and fun. Figuring out the measurements is made easy here with this step by step guide. We have a range of things to try here from Bonfire cupcakes to Brownie lollipops!
Beautiful, fun and a little new challenge to try.

Many thanks to the Author, Harvard common press and netgalley for an ARC. I am leaving my review voluntarily

Thanks to Netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group for access to this arc in exchange for my honest review.

What can I say about this book ? Everything is so cute and delicious ! I love that the ingredients were given in grams. The pictures of the tiny cakes and the steps to ensured result were nice. If there were one tiny improvement to be made about the book, would be to give out amount of cakes the ingredients would yield.
I hope that one day I'll be patient enough to try any of these. Maybe I will without those beautiful details.
If you want to impress your friends or guests, this book is for you !

Are you looking for a book filled with ideas of tiny desserts? Well look no further.

While to me personally, this looks like something I’d never get around to, this book would be a great resource for that baker who loves to be a little extra. And the recipes look delicious too.

Baker Jennifer Ziemons, known for her show Jenny’s Mini Cooking Show on YouTube, is here to show us how to create Tiny Bakes that will wow friends and family. With just a few kitchen tools and her recipes and techniques, you can make and decorate tiny cakes, pies, cookies, and more. She uses lots of photos to show off her bakes, both the colorful and whimsical finished products as well as the techniques she uses to create them, so readers can see step by step how to get from the list of ingredients to a delightful and delicious treat.

After a brief introduction to her miniaturized baking and an explanation of what equipment she recommends for those trying to replicate her bakes (it’s not as much as you think), she jumps right in with her cupcakes and cake pops. She makes Monster Cupcakes that look as cute as they do delicious and Bonfire Cupcakes, with pretzels for the logs and accompanying marshmallows. And she decorates her cake pops as octopus, bees, frogs, and ice cream cones. And let’s not forget the Unicorn Cupcakes, with a surprise filling and rainbow frosting.

Then it’s on to cakes, where Ziemons makes layer cakes that could grace a magazine cover but also fit in your hands. There is a Three-Tier Celebration Cake that would steal the show at a wedding shower or Mother’s Day. There is a three-layer Red Velvet Cake with cream cheese frosting that could make you fall in love with Valentine’s Day. And there are Monster Cakes that everyone will scream for at Halloween. Then there are a Rainbow Cheesecake, Animal Cakes, and Confetti-Style Birthday Cake for any other celebrations you need a tiny treat for. And while she shows off her decorations for each of these bakes, she encourages readers to use hers as a jumping off point and show off their own creativity with their bakes and decorations.

Then it’s on to cookies, like the Chocolate Mint Cookies made to look like turtles, the Rainbow Cookies with the surprise sprinkles inside, or the Peanut Butter Cereal Cookies. But then you are faced with a big decision—do you try to make the “Burger” Cookies or the “Burger” Macrons? They both look like burgers, but what kind of cookie do you want to make? And then it’s on to pies, like the classic Apple Pie with a lattice crust, a Strawberry Pie with flowers baked on, and a pumpkin pie made to look like a pumpkin. There is also a Peanut Butter Marshmallow Pie with handmade marshmallows, a classic Lemon Meringue Pie, and Blueberry Pies that look like owls.

And lastly, there are brownies and bars, like the Peanut Butter Crispy Rice Brownies, Classic Brownies with powdered sugar messages on top, Salted Caramel Bars that are baked on shortbread and decorated with bear faces, Chocolate-Hazelnut Puff Pastry Treats cut into snails or a pine tree (or any shape you want), Brownie Lollipops that are half chocolate chip cookie and decorated with chocolate icing and colorful sprinkles, and Homemade Sandwich Cookies with expressive faces.

I loved Tiny Bakes. I thought Jenny Ziemons’ creations were filled with whimsy and delight, and the photos (and there are a lot of photos) really brought the baking and the treats to life. Even beginner bakers could follow these instructions and find some success, although some of the decorating techniques will take more experience and repetition to master. But a lot of these creations will bring joy to the hearts of children and to the adults who keep their inner children alive and hungry for sweets. This book is fun to read and would be fun to bake from and would make an ideal gift for someone looking for a new baking niche to bring their creativity to.

Egalleys for Tiny Bakes were provided by Harvard Common Press through Edelweiss, with many thanks.

This is a perfect book if you want to make perfect, tiny creations – ideal for a tea party, wedding or bridal shower or just a small indulgent treat … mind you, you might want to eat a whole tray of them! If you are hesitant about buying a food-level scale, I got mine on Amazon and I love it, especially when it comes to making sure something that I am mailing isn’t too heavy. (I write to my Brownies' pen pal once a week, STILL --- 48 years and counting…and no we have never met in person. She is from the rare and exotic...Nebraska!)

GBBO’s Kim-Joy would love and approve of this book, too --- it is just darling and if you follow the instructions, you might give her or the author of this book a run for their money!

Anyone who loves miniature treats and loves to bake will want to pick up a copy of Tiny Bakes: Delicious Mini Cakes, Pies, Cookies, Brownies, and More , by award-winning baker and expert on miniature baking, Jennifer Ziemons. This fun cookbook will inspire everyone to bake treats for every occasion that will be loved by everyone, including children.

There are dozens of recipes for adorable miniature treats, mostly sweet. The recipes are written in the traditional manner with the ingredients listed first, followed by step-by-step instructions that are concise and easy to follow. Each recipe also includes notes and comments at the beginning of each recipe. There are basic recipes such as classic brownies or salted caramel bars, but they have been elevated to different levels and decorated so they are colorful and adorable. Many of the treats are perfect for children’s parties or holiday parties. It seems most people would rather eat several different types of one bite goodies than have to choose only one.

There are beautiful, professional photographs of the recipes, and the author makes them not only look mouthwatering, but also colorful, cute, and appealing.

All told, bakers everywhere will want to try some of these yummy recipes (multiple ones because they are very small). The recipes are suitable for any occasion and are absolutely fun.

TINY BAKES is fascinating and …a bit weirder than I realized when choosing to review this book. I thought the title referred to tiny batches, perhaps, or tiny recipes. I’ve always wanted to make just a few impressive cupcakes rather than a whole batch but the recipe doesn’t lend itself to easy changes. But this book refers to really tiny baked goods. Think, morsels. And the book really delivers on the promise of the extended title. I’m just not entirely sure I would purchase the pans and materials needed. But, they do look delicious! I received my copy from the publisher through edelweiss.

What a delightful recipe book! I was mesmerised by the charm of these miniature cakes and bite-size celebration recipe bakes. I can only imagine you would need a lot of patience and a steady hand for some of these recipes but it looks like a lot of fun and the results are amazing. Ideal for ideas for any celebration: children's party; afternoon tea; Christmas. I loved so many of the recipes but the Salted Caramel Bars/Bears and the mini cakes and pies stood out the most for me. Thanks you to Net Galley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

This book is precious. The recipes are fun and inventive. Who doesn't love things when they are cute and tiny?

This cookbook does a great job of providing accurate measurements, wonderful pictures and helpful tips and instructions. Even though I really enjoyed looking through all of the recipes, I truly doubt I will make many of these. First of all, it's a practicality factor for me. But if I were the person to make tiny yummy food, this would be the cookbook I'd refer to. It's quite well done.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book.

This is a cute book! While it's not necessarily super practical this book is full of tiny desserts like macarons, pies, and cupcakes. There's recipes for a variety of sweets in smaller than standard portions for additional whimsy. It also feels a little less intimidating approaching some of these recipes in their smaller size. Overall a fun find!

A very clever book with some brilliant baking ideas. Clear instructions that make a stunning bake look fat simpler than you would first think and beautiful photography.

It would be great if there could be alternatives to switch out ingredients for gluten free, dairy free and others.

4 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Jennifer Ziemons and Quarto for an ARC in return for an honest review.

Though these might be impractical to make, I appreciate that these recipes are creative and innovative. They look fun and bakers may enjoy creating these despite the additional efforts that making such tiny bakes might incur.
