Susan King, née Longhi, is a multi-published, bestselling, award-winning author and a former art history lecturer. She holds a B.A. in art and an M.A. and most of a Ph.D. in art history, with postgraduate work in medieval studies. Her books are widely praised for historical detail and a lyrical writing style, and she has won multiple honors and awards for her novels written as Susan King, Sarah Gabriel, and Susan Fraser King. Susan visits Scotland as often as possible for research and relaxation, and lives in Maryland with her family.

Susan King is a good writer with a beautiful vocabulary. In Kissing the Countess she weaves together an absorbing tale that is part mystical, part cultural, part historical and part unforeseen love between two unlikely but likable people.

The first quarter of this absorbing read gets off to a fast start, but it somewhat slows in the second quarter. However, the last half of this descriptive book picks up and speeds toward a truly sweet ending that left me smiling.

Content 411: This book does not contain vulgarities, but it does feature some dizzying mountain heights and the most exquisitely written love scenes I have read in a long time.

Evan and Catriona are both likeable and the story line is generally lighthearted and interesting. The entire story takes place around the fairy glen next to the fairy mountain while occasionally crossing the fairy bridge, but having said that, it is all fairy lore that adds a bit of magic to the story of two brought together due to the majesty, splendor, and danger of the highlands. Evan and Catriona seem poorly matched on the surface, but you discover how well their dreams fit together as you learn more about them and how they face the evil among them. Excellent story.
Evan and Catriona were interesting characters and very well-written this tale has that added touch of magic. The prologue was so sad and the ending was very dramatic. This was a complex tale with twists and turn. There is hate, lies, secrets, betrayal, jealousy, mistrust, but there is also love and a tale to warm the heart. AMAZING STORY!

This was one of the most amazing Highland love stories I have ever read! I never realized that woman climbed mountains in the 1800's in dresses like going to church. It also told how traditions were kept alive from generation to generation. Enjoy this book as I did.

¡Qué libro tan bello!!! Le colocaría 10 estrellas si pudiera. Una hermosa historia de amor, llena del paisaje escosés y de toda su magia y significado, los protagonistas con carácter y bien delineados, muy bien escrito y traducido, una novela bien investigada pero no hasta el punto de desdibujar la historia (sucede que a veces se convierten en tratados dejando de lado el argumento) si no con el toque para hacer sentir real todo lo que se leía. ¡Estoy encantada con la historia de amor! Los sentimientos, las dudas, las certezas, el destino inexorable, la sensualidad. Incluso me encantó el villano, un tercero en discordia de esos que me gustan, estilo "toallero" maloso. ¡Gracias Susan!!!!

well... what can I said?
when I read this book I was younger and I think it wasn't appropiated for my age, so I skipped some pages. As far as I remember it was a good history and I also remember I didn't like the ending.
