As he helps her to safety, she realizes he is the man who has haunted her dreams. Nick, however, is committed to reconnecting with his estranged teenage daughter, refusing to respond to his powerful attraction to Isabella. What is Isabella’s role in the mysteries—both past and present—that swirl around the town? When she starts helping at the Hartley family theater, all the pieces begin to link together. Apparently, Isabella is psychic. She says so quite a lot. But it didn’t really make any difference to the story…

A nice enough romance with a light suspense. It’s fine.

Third in the Angel's Bay series lineup, at Hidden Falls brings us closer to the highly anticipated end of the story for our small town residents. The story mostly surrounds the descendents of a shipwrecked group of people that founded the town some one hundred and fifty years ago. Again, with a lot of romance and suspence, Barbara Freethy has pulled us into the lives of many of Angel's Bay's inhabitants, and even some outsiders.

Summary:
Costume Designer Isabella Silveira has been fighting her instincts for two weeks, but she cant fight any more. Izzy decides to visit her older brother Chief of Police Joe Silveira after he sends her an old necklace he found in the basement of the house he inherited. Since putting the necklace on, Izzy hasnt been able to sleep a whole night through, at least not without dreaming. Being the youngest of five children wasnt always easy, and Izzy grew up being told that her unique blue eye color and special knowledge of events that havent happened, was just a way to make her feel special over her other siblings. Along with painful past memories and rejections, Izzy hides the side of herself that inherited the gift of insight. Usually, she's able to push it aside, but she cant in this instance because the dreams she's having show someone in danger and it could be her brother. Taking action and driving to the small town her brother called home was just supposed to be to ease her mind, maybe help to quit her dreaming, but instead it turns into a life endangering journey. On the way into town, another car forces Izzy to break and swerve, but with wet pavement her car veers off the face of the cliff. Luckily, a good samaritan sees her tail lights plunge over the side and is able to get to her while her car is resting against some very unstable rocks. The man, Nick Hartley, is able to pull Izzy from the car just before it completes its fall into the cold, swirling ocean below. Izzy is stunned to face the man she's been dreaming of for two weeks, but wven more stunned at the heat and connection she feels with him. Nick grew up in Angel's Bay off and on, when his parents weren't dragging him and his sister from theater to theater. He has come back home to raise his own fifteen year old, whom he's been estranged from for over ten years. Nick cant help but be intrigued by this mysterious, sexy woman, but he doesn't take risks anymore and he needs to focus on winning his daughter back. Just as Izzy gets settled into town, her brother, Joe is called to advise on the disappearance of a you g girl who just gave birth, Annie. Joe knows that Annie has been under a lot of pressure and stress and is at first convinced she simply dropped it all and ran, leaving her baby behind with Charlotte Adams and her mother. It is quickly determined that Annie was taken against her will and a search is planned. Charlotte and Joe are still dancing around the tension and attraction between them, especially as Joe's divorce has yet to be finalized. With Annie missing and Charlotte on full-time baby duty, there really isnt much chance to talk, but a lot is hinted at. Charlotte and Joe are also mired in the knowledge that the father of Annie's baby is one of five prospective adoptive parents. This brings complications not only to the adoption, but also to Annie's disappearance and who might be responsible as well as several marriages coming under fire. With all the chaos, Joe is working over time to bring the young mother home safe to her newborn son. Izzy decides to keep herself busy working at the local theater, helping get ready for their winter production by helping with costumes. It just so happens that Nick's family runs the old theater in Angel's Bay, a d their connection may come from a lot more than him rescuing her. Nick was going to keep his distance from the beautiful, witchy woman who snagged his attention, but he had no chance with her running into him practically everywhere they go. Fighting with a teenage girl all day takes a lot out of a person, and when him and Izzy always end up in close proximity, it becomes difficult to keep their hands to themselves. Izzy knows she needs to be close to Nick for something, she doesnt know what it is and it turns out that a relative of hers was once involved with one of Nick's and that and the necklace is what helps to provide such a strong connection between them. Both are struggling with showing their true selves and landing in the right place. Nick cant be the wild, dangerous boy he was. He's a father and his daughter needs him, but being the perfect rule following man doesn't seem quite right either. Izzy needs to believe in herself so she can be the woman she should, that her ancestor's never had the chance to be. Pulling away from each other becomes more and more impossible, but when a heartbroken, emotionally vulnerable young girl catches her father with Izzy, will they have to stay apart for a bigger, more important reason? Danger is brewing for the residents of Angel's Bay. Can Izzy help to resolve a small piece of it and help a father and daughter find each other again while learning about her tie to the original twenty four and being supportive for her brother?

I enjoyed book four very much! Izzy was awesome. I was awes by her ability and her warm-hearted nature. She also was straight-forward and energetic. It made me giddy just reading. Lol. Nick sounded like the perfect bad boy reformed. He had that dark, guitar-playing edge, but he was also successful and responsible. At times I felt his daughter was a spoiled brat. Granted, Nick was so concerned with her pushing him away that he wouldnt put his foot down. As the parent, a good spanking can change a child's point of view very quickly. i know it did for me growing up. Lol. We got a bit more of Joe and Charlotte!! I adore them together, and really cant wait to find out the full story. It has slowly been unraveling throughout the other books, but finally we will get all Joe and Charlotte all the time! I'm also relieved to have Annie's story pretty much settled. I felt like it was starting to drag a bit. Still, a fantastic story. <3

I was eager to read this book again each time I came back for more. A little bit of romance, some historical mystery, and some psychic elements were all fun to have included. And the theater background, which normally wouldn't have appealed to me, was kept at a minimum.

Isabella Silviera has several months off work, so she decides to head north to Angel's Bay, where her brother is the new police chief. When almost there, her car is bumped off a cliff, and she is rescued from falling down and into the ocean by architect Nick Hartley. They are immediately drawn to each other, but he has problems of his own with a rebellious teenage daughter who he hadn't seen for almost a dozen years that he is raising now. Meanwhile, a young unwed mother who was going to adopt out her baby disappears, and rumors circulate that one of the 5 men being considered as adoptive fathers is the actual father. When she starts volunteering to design costumes for Nick's family's theater, she realizes that some of her visions are becoming reality. Can she help save the people who seem to be in danger?

I'm no longer fond of this series. This is #4 and we are still getting too many details about Charlotte, Andrew, and Joe. It is not their story. Andrew proved many times in all the books that he was a jerk, an idiot, and too perfect. He actually TOLD the men about the ongoing investigation details. Wow. Charlie didn't help about that fact since she said that none of those men would do that to their wife. We missed many details about Alicia who might be responsible for what happened to Leticia; instead we got more of CAJ. Is Leticia really dead or just hiding? She would be in her 80s. Kendra's story was told 2x in many details. Megan being dumped 6x by page 150. Pamela, Nick's mother, could have been named something else. I was mixing her up with the slut from book 1 (or 2 maybe?). Why didn't Isabella told Joe right away that the two in the car were fighting; it took a long while. I really liked how Nick believed in Isabella and her gift.

I have really enjoyed these books about Angel Falls and the group of friends and family that live there. Isabella Silveira’s entrance into the town where her brother was Chief of Police was one she would never forget. She had come here because of a piece of jewelry that her brother had sent her that he had found in his uncle’s things after he died. Now she wasn’t sure she would live long enough to see her brother after her car was run off the road and crashed over the guardrail being stopped by only a large rock. Nick Hartley had seen the car go over the side and was able to rescue her in the neck of time. The storyline follows Nick and Isabella’s journey to their past relatives and the shipwreck that the town is famous for. Great book.

I was expecting this to be just another modern romance with the sulky teenager acting as the impediment to true love. Instead, I found a surprisingly rich story with psychic visions, teen pregnancy, marriages struggling due to infertility (and infidelity), finding room for childhood dreams within adult lives, regrets over lost love, old scandals, and a sweet love story. Sometimes the dialog seemed a little forced, clinical as a therapist asking about probing questions instead of two people just having a conversation, but it was a nice change of pace. You get a real sense of Angel Falls as a real place with real people, people with hurts and dreams and loves.

4-1/2 stars. Good story of likeable characters in a charming town. Magical and unexplained occurrences. Part of a series. The only thing that kept this from being 5 stars for me is that sometimes the dialog was a bit long. Other than that, I really like the story line and look forward to reading other books in the series.

Loved It

I really enjoyed reading this book. It held a lot of twists and I loved the fact that some of them took me completely by surprise. Isabella learned a lot about herself and we watched her learn to e!embrace her gift and she was able to help the man she loved because of that gift.
Looking forward to the next chapter.

Costume designer Isabella Silveira had pretty much lived day to day not really staying in one place or committing to one person. It's not that she didn't want to, its that she was afraid to. You see, Isabella had been gifted or in her opinion cursed with the ability of sight. When her significant others discovered this ability it usually resulted in her relationships ending. So, it was just easier for her to avoid them. I really liked Isabella's character. She obviously had a good heart and she was always kind. I appreciated her ability to remain calm in the face of hostility.

Nick Hartley was an architect and businessman who recently got custody of his estranged daughter, Megan. He wanted to make up for not being there when she grew up, even sacrificing his personal life and any kind of relationship just so he could get to know her. But, Megan refused and rebelled against him.
I loved the chemistry between Isabella and Nick. It was evident from the beginning that they were meant to be. I was happy the author took her time to let the relationship journey through some obstacles and have a chance to grow. For example, Nick;s relationship with his daughter and his desire for Isabella. I do confess there were moments, I thought Nick was a dick. But, after awhile, I could see how he was struggling with what he wanted and what he thought was right....even though sometimes he was wrong.

I thought the supporting characters were enjoyable as well. I did like Megan's character even though she got on my nerves...But, teenagers normally do that. For that reason alone, I thought she was a very credible character. I also liked Isabella's protective brother and local law enforcement, Joe. I thought it was interesting that as much as he loved his sister, he really didn't know her. The local towns people were charming and quirky and I loved their small town essence with their quilting, theater curses, and turkey shots. I also loved that in Angel Bay,one person's drama was the towns drama. People just couldn't get away from the gossip or the secrets. It all felt like the next small town.

The author did an amazing job with the world building and plot. I could actually visualize the scenic landscapes and feel the inviting charm of the town and its people. I thought the romance of Nick and Isabella to be romantic and believable and the mysteries within the town to be intriguing and compelling.

Overall, this is the first book I have read from this author and I have to say I quite enjoyed myself. From the romantic tension and inner struggles, the mysteries and charms of a small town and its people, the coming of age of a rebellious daughter and the magical elements that tied them all together, At Hidden Falls charmed its way into my heart and pulled on my heartstrings. It was definitely a cozy and comfortable read.

Isabella Silveira has what some call sixth sense. She has the ability to see visions, often a forewarning of things that might happen in the future, but sometimes its snippets from the past. When her brother Nick sends her a necklace that he found in his uncle's house in Angel's Bay she starts having dreams of a shadowy figure, and it seems the person is in danger. She thinks it might be her brother Joe she is seeing because he has recently divorced, and moved permanently to Angel Bay after he inherited their uncle's house, and took the job of chief of police in the tiny town. The premonition has her so worried that she decides to visit him. While on her way there she is run off the road, and is rescued by Nick Hartley. As soon as she sees Nick she realizes he is the person she has been having visions of, not her brother.
Nick is struggling to find common ground with his 15 year old daughter Megan, who has come back into his life after her mother decides she wants to remarry and doesn't want Megan around. The last thing he wants is a relationship with Isabella, but something about her draws him to her, but how will he feel when she tells him about her visions, and why would she sense that he is in danger?
I loved the small town feel of this story, a town where people go planning on staying a few weeks and wind up being permanent residents.
There were plenty of things happening to keep it interesting such as the mystery of what happened to Annie, and why she would abandon her baby, or did she? The relationship between Charlotte and Joe is interesting, and I wonder how it will work out since Andrew seems intent on dating Charlotte. The author does an amazing job of pulling you into the lives of the characters immediately, and while the main storyline is interesting the secondary stories are just as important! I think one of my favorite characters was Megan, she was looking for a place to belong, and by the end of the story I got the feeling her relationship with her dad would work out!

While this book is a part of the Angel Bay series it can easily be read as a stand alone work. I haven't read any of the other books but had no problem jumping right into this story. The author whets our appetites by giving us a sneak peek at the next book in the series, which really starts off with a bang!
I would be remiss if I didn't mention the eye appealing cover on this book, it drew me right in, so sometimes you can judge a book by its cover!
If your a fan of contemporary romance, with a bit of mystery and drama, that will keep you turning the pages to see where the story is going then this book is definitely for you. I for one can't wait to take my next visit to Angel's Bay!
