I really wasn't too impressed with this one. I think I was more disappointed because I was expecting to be inspired and hopeful after reading it, especially when I saw that Helena Norberg-Hodge and Vandana Shiva were contributors. Most of the examples of sustainable communities in it are just stereotype hippies growing some of their own vegetables, selling biodegradable soap to pay for their solar panels to power their high tech crap, sculpting groovy designs into their houses. One group claims to have a time machine. Basically all the pointless New Age shit I get accused of advocating when I talk to people about permaculture and bioregionalism is what this book is about. Not a fan.
