Underhållande summering , del 8.

Jean BP / Karl XIV Johan har dött, o Oscar I tar över 1844. Riksdagens makt börjar öka, skandinavismen ökar i kraft.

Facken börjar få inflytande o strejkar i Sundsvall.

The huge undertaking which was writing the "popular history" version of Sweden have gotten a thorough bashing from scholars (some parts/books more than others of course). But, if we keep in mind that parts are the authors deductions and literary liberties, the fact remains that this is the available work of this magnitude. Also, Lindqvist is a great storyteller and makes history, with a number of documented mistakes or misconceptions, accessible to a broad audience.

Book number eight spans the period 1844–1905, when the union with Norway was broken up.
