Your book was very insightful with a lot of information. I did take a lot of notes to help me. However, he was able to do it because he has -- money$$$$/resources open doors and one contact leads to more contacts. It is who you know also helps. Those who have been through this experience should try and help those in need and lead the way for those who are less unfortunate with means. I have a question about paragraph page 83 - I looked at my watch. It was 10:30. (a.m. or p.m.)?
I grew up just outside Syracuse, in the late 60's I gave up my son. In 2021 he found me. This book resonated close to my heart. My son had similar nightmares and emotional abandonment feelings. Tim's book helped me to understand the feelings that a adopted child goes through. Thank you for writing your story, I'm sure it has helped many. I too had a happy ending, my son and I are best friends and he has moved to the town I live in.
I have to confess that as an adopted mother, parts of this book were painful for me to read. But I loved his insights and perspective. I do think he comes across as arrogant even as he talks about his insecurities.
My reading has taken on an adoption theme recently in an attempt to better understand the deep grief and loss that many adoptees feel, even when raised in great homes under the best of circumstances. This autobiography illustrates this in a very real way. It was like reading a textbook case. I appreciate his ability to clearly see his actions and how they related to his adoption and related quest to find his birth mother, though I didn't always agree with his life choices.
Beautiful autobiography/memoir. After meeting Tim in 2009, I've sought and bought any of his books that I can get my hands on. His youth fiction with sports themes and male protagonists are a win WIN in the classroom. I have enjoyed his fiction based on his actual experiences with the NFL, and I hope to read some of his mystery/suspense pieces, albeit not my favored genre. This piece, however, is a beautiful look inside the past of this once broken, now whole man!
My son was enjoying the football heroes series of books, but I couldn't bring myself to read one so I read Dark Side of the Game and followed up with A Man and His Mother. Tim Green is a very interesting character. He claims to have no great natural talent, but when he makes up his mind to do something, damn it, he does it. Become a professional football player! Earn a law degree! Write a novel! He wasn't great at any of these things, but he worked very hard and got them done.
