The little town in the Ozarks had always been a safe haven for Chancy Boyd. But now a disturbing series of crimes was moving ever closer to her, threatening everything she held dear. And a man unlike any she'd ever known was unsettling her in other ways...

Now a deadly tornado--her worst nightmare, ever since a twister had killed her parents--was racing toward the town. With the help of storm chaser Nate Collins, she'd have to face her deepest fears, both the storm gathering outside, and the storm this man unleashed in her heart.

Valerie Hansen is the pen name of Valerie Whisenand.

Librarian Note: There is more than one author in the GoodReads database with this name. See this thread for more information.

Although I have been a published author since the mid 1980s, I have been writing women's Christian fiction almost exclusively since 1999.

There is a longer, more detailed bio on my website so there's no need for me to repeat all that here. Right now, I write for all three Love Inspired lines, Romance, Suspense and Historical. I'm delighted to have been included that broadly and besides, it keeps me so busy that I stay out of trouble. Well, mostly.

You'll find me on the LI Historical blog as well as other LI features. If I try to do much more I won't have time to write my books!

First of all, Valerie Hansen is a very good friend, just so you know that up front. HOWEVER, even if this book had been written by a stranger, I would have enjoyed it. I gave it four stars as a compromise. Shadow of Turning is a five star romance but a three star mystery. That said, I really enjoyed this story of a small town in Missouri. The heroine Chancy is charming and quirky and her hero Nate is her perfect foil, all science and efficiency. I recommend this to anyone who likes a small town romance with a lot of charm.

"Shadow of Turning", another great Love Inspired Romance Suspense from Valerie Hansen!! Sometimes folks with the strongest faith seem to be the ones who have the hardest hurdles in life. This was the life of Chancy. With Nate, the storm chaser, being weak in faith and Chancy being so strong, trusting, naive and always eager to help people, put them both in danger of being killed by someone wanting some antique pictures that Chancy had. The way Valerie weaves the lives of an antique dealer and a storm chasing Cessna 310 pilot together, is just awesome! Such a strong, brilliant, and exciting story with a wonderful and inspiring ending. I highly recommend this novel as well as anything written by Valerie Hansen. You will never be disappointed in her work. Congratulations to Valerie, for actually becoming a certified "Severe Weather Storm Spotter" with her husband's support and encouragement. May God continue His Blessings on you, Valerie.

Bland book. Romance came totally out of the blue. I don't know why there is a need to show the couple falling in love and getting married when they have known each other for such a short time and they don't know anything about each other.
There wasnt much background provided on both and even the suspense was half baked.
