Having a drugged cheetah wake up in his lap was not what Hal Brindley had in mind when he went to Africa as a conservation volunteer. This short story recounts the heart-pounding events of Brindley's final day tracking cheetahs at a game reserve in South Africa.
This is a rather interesting story about a man trying to save a cheetah. It's not bad; it's not outstanding. I think it is part of a larger work which might explain some of the drawbacks to it in this form.
I liked this one, but I kind of wish I knew beforehand that it was just an excerpt of another book and not an entire book on its own (I got it on Kindle, so didn’t pay attention to the fact it was so short prior to download). So it whet my appetite, but didn’t give nearly enough to really suffice as a stand alone item on Kindle. I didn’t especially love the writing style either, though I didn’t dislike it enough to say I wouldn’t read the full book. Perhaps the subject matter is just interesting enough to overlook some of the flaws in writing or story telling.
