This was a fun mystery and it was so neat to see Elizabeth quoting Scriptures often in this story.

Number of pages: 91

Genre: Children’s Fiction

Series: Camp Club Girls #9

Age recommendation: 9-11(+)

Summary: Alexis and Elizabeth are in lake Havasu, Arizona for the London Bridge Festival, but only hours after they arrive, they are met with the scary reality: London Bridge is actually falling down! On top of that, someone is trying to steal the carriage replica… will Alexis and Elizabeth be able to figure everything out in time to save the London Bridge for the parade?

My thoughts: The romance in this story was kind of funny and cute, although Alexis’ dude is at least 2 years older than her (which doesn’t seem like that much but it always seems like a big deal when you’re younger). I feel bad for him that he lost his parents. He’s a really nice guy, but he’s kind of dumb.
Like all of the Camp Club Girl stories, the plot is interesting, yet it’s so ridiculous that the girls are able to solve everything and that adults (including the police) just listen to them. This one was a little better with the police not just randomly trusting a bunch of young girls (14 and 12 year old), but it’s still kind of dumb.
I didn’t really notice much spiritual content, just some verses here and there that Elizabeth quoted. I mean, it was a clean, interesting read but if you’re looking for something with a Christian message, this one doesn’t give you too much there.
I would definitely recommend this book to younger girls, however, my personal rating is a little lower just because this series was not written for my age group and I find them childish.

My personal rating: 3/5 stars.

This one was a really fun story! There was a mystery that happened, but mostly it was just adventures (I really liked reading about the race) and then there was a Big Chase Scene at the end that I really loved! It /was/ a little bit crushy for being a middle grade book though? So 4/5 for me, but 3/5 as an actual middle grade book.

Alexis and the Arizona Escapade is the 9th book in the Camp Club Girls series, and the last one of this series that I will review. In this installment, Alexis visits her grandmother in Lake Havasu, Arizona, home of the London Bridge. While there, Alexis and visiting friend Elizabeth learn that the bridge has a crack in it, and its source is a mystery that puzzles local authorities. The girls use the sleuthing skills developed in their first eight adventures to uncover possible explanations for the bridge's collapse. Is someone - perhaps the owner of a small, suspicious fishing boat - purposely dismantling the bridge's stonework? Why are there stones from the London Bridge for sale on the internet? With the help of the rest of the club, Elizabeth and Alexis get to the bottom of the mystery, and are surprised by what they find!

Of all the books I've read from this series, this one was my least favorite. The mystery seemed somewhat far-fetched to me, and the ending didn't feel as satisfying as some of the others. The most interesting parts of the story were actually secondary to the mystery plot. One of my favorite scenes happens at a school pep rally, which Alexis and Elizabeth accidentally attend when they are mistaken for students. Alexis is chosen as a freshman volunteer for a class competition, and she wins! The girls also take part in a community bed race, which was another fun part of the story, and an experience I don't think too many kids have had.

I would definitely still recommend this series as a whole. The Christian themes make these a safe, wholesome read for Christian kids whose parents want to avoid darker themes, but even non-Christian kids will find lots of suspense and surprises in each of these mysteries. This particular volume isn't the strongest of the set, but taken together, the whole series is absolutely worth reading.
