This was exactly what I was looking for to answer the question: How did Hawaii go from Polynesian kingdom to U.S. State. Lots of interesting stories and history of this amazing place.

Upon my arrival in Hawaii for a 3-year Army tour, I picked out this book at the Schofield Barracks library and quickly became enthralled by Hawaii's rich, fascinating history. It was eye-opening, to say the least, and gave me insight into an American culture almost completely separate from American culture.

Thanks to Mr. Joesting for helping me to understand my home for 3 awesome years.

I am enjoying this book. It is very informative and the information is fairly accurate although some of the facts seem to differ slightly from some other history books I have read on Hawai'i. It is very entertaining as it jumps from event to event leaving out some of the more bland episodes.
