PSIence: How New Discoveries in Quantum Physics and New Science May Explain the Mysteries of Paranormal Phenomenom

Rate this book
Are poltergeists energy fluctuations in the Zero Point Field?

Could even the simple experience of déjà vu be explained by the quantum theory of parallel universes?

Do thoughts have the energy to manifest and move physical objects?

PSIence introduces readers to the latest discoveries in quantum physics and New Science that may explain the existence of paranormal phenomena--UFOs, ghosts, poltergeists, mysterious apparitions, time anomalies, the Bermuda Triangle, energy vortices--and psychic abilities such as ESP, telekinesis, remote viewing, and recalling past lives.

You'll explore the cutting-edge ideas that are fascinating both scientists and paranormal investigators,
The latest theories of multiple universes and eleven dimensions.
The Zero Point Field--is it the potential source of all creative energy?
The potential of every human being to experience the paranormal

Many of the world's leading scientists, researchers, philosophers and spiritual leaders--from noted physicists like Michio Kaku to the revered Dalai Lama--are beginning to accept the possibility of alternate realities and dimensions that warp time and space. PSIence takes the reader on a journey to where the "normal" and the paranormal intersect, where the known and unknown converge, where science greets the supernatural.

Briefly and inadequately touching upon some very interesting subjects, PSIence is a poor mixture of amateurish writing, legitimate scientific research, and unfounded unscientific conjecture to ineffectively connect said research to the paranormal. Like so many books in recent years, it follows this logic; "Quantum Physics/String Theory/etc. says anything is possible; Therefore, psychic/magick/ghost stuff is possible; Therefore Quantum Physics/String Theory/etc. proves the existence of psychic/magick/ghost stuff." This logic is invalid and childish and unfortunately painfully common in current occult circles (at least in my experience). However, the book does earn a second star by presenting quantum physics, string theory, and some less well-accepted scientific fields, in terms so simple a five-year-old could understand, but not so vague as to be completely meaningless.

Honestly, this book perplexes me. I've never been so torn on how I feel regarding a book before. At times, the book is disorganized and sensationalistic, while at other times, it's scientific and intriguing. There are multiple editing and spelling errors, and all in all, out feels like am extra long literary review for a graduate thesis.

If you have an open mind and enjoy thinking about the seemingly unexplainable, we should be friends! Oh, and you should read this book too. This book has provided me with years worth of material for my own personal 'what if' games.

This is one of those books on an interesting subject in that it attempts to link two fields that some would be uncomfortable trying to connect. Being two parts researched history and one part theory, this books ends up being true speculation on the connection between quantum physics theories and the paranormal.

The first part is concerned with the history of paranormal phenomena. Contained in this portion is a rote history of UFOs, psychic phenomna, etc. Though it is nice to have some background information, there really is no reason the readers needs details about specific events such as Roswell, Project Blue Book, or specific disappearances in the Bermuda Triangle. This could have been much shorter and succinct.

The second portion of the book is much the same as the first, but with a focus on physics. It involves the history and development of physics from relative physics to the present day research into quantum physics. Though more interesting and more coherent, the history here really isn't necessary here, either, though the presentation of different quantum theories is relevant and very interesting.

The third section is the meat of the book and what you're presumably been waiting for. The connection between quantum physics and paranormal phenomena. Of course, this is all speculation, but it is laid out very nicely. There is even mention of spiritual practices at the very end of this section which touches on some personal experiences of the author and briefly introduces concepts that will be interesting to see if they bear out with more research. The focus of this section seems to be on the possibility of other dimensions and how they may be tapped to produce paranormal phenomena. It is disappointing that one of the main theories regarding ghosts isn't even introduced (the recording of events into the fabric of stone which offer up replays of the past) and that it seems the only possibility considered is that ghosts are conscious, living beings from another dimension who may or may not interact with us. If this were true, then why do we not see ghosts from the future? Is that what some UFOs and aliens are? This would touch off a difficult debate as to whether or not the future is set and so may have been avoided on purpose.

All in all, if you have a passable knowledge of paranormal phenomena, you can skim the first section. The same can be said of the first portion of the second section, but read about current quantum theory and the entirety of the third section. After all, that last quarter of the book is what you're looking forward to. Some interesting questions are raised and possibilities are discussed, but if you're looking for solid evidence of what is really going on, you won't find it here. Those conclusions simply haven't been arrived at yet, but you will be able to leave with a decent familiarity of what quantum physicists are looking at right now.

I am a huge fan of Marie Jones, and this book is an excellent introduction to her work, if you are not already familiar with it. What makes this book so enjoyable is how she is able to make complex ideas, such as theories in quantum physics, simple enough for the average person to comprehend. But this is never all she does--she also connects the science with aspects of paranormal phenomenon in logical, believable ways. Her book makes an excellent companion read for other books in the same area, such as Dean Radin's Conscious Universe, for example.
You will love her quirky sense of humour along with her vast knowledge, both shared in perfect proportions in PSIence. This book, read quite some time ago, has led me to want to read her more recent one, called The Grid. I love Marie and enjoy her massive array of science-related books, too. She is immensely curious about everything in the natural and paranormal world, and thankfully, she brings readers along for the ride without losing them in dry details or overly-intellectual discussions. You will not be disappointed with this book, nor any of her other ones.

Excellent and very complete book on the various topics that fall under the "psi" umbrella including UFOs, ghosts, energy vortices, ESP, quantum physics, the Zero Point Field, other dimensions, consciousness and so forth. The author did a fantastic job of summarizing the numerous researchers' findings in their respective fields. It was intelligently written with a humorous, conversational style that was easy to understand. Whether you're just getting into these type of phenomena or a seasoned veteran you will learn something new from this well-researched book.

I learned a lot!!! I just don't know where to start. Jones has a unique voice and an ability to connect with the reader. She writes about complicated things but in a way that makes the subject very clear and obtainable. She is able to break down subjects and "translate" the scientific language into everyday language. She's also very funny!

This is one of those pseudo-science books that misreads complex research for the purpose of packaging it to support bizarre paranormal ideas. It's typical of the "scientific" paranormal approach that seeks to dazzle with buzzwords from science articles but in the end perpetrates the same superstitions that have existed for millenia.

The premise sounded cool but there really wasn't much information on the science. A lot of talk about how things might connect without delving into the actual possibilities on a tangible level. I was disappointed to say the least.
