SOME SPOILERS included about the hero and heroine
I love Damon but it didn't surprising me that I did given that he is a possessive, protective and a jealous hero. Also he was obsessed when it came to the heroine. He would do anything to protect her. The fact that he is a virgin is total bonus. The heroine is his one and only. I was so happy that I didn't have to read about yet another manhoe hero. In fact, this story has the opposite of the sexual stereotype found in too any romances because not only was Damon a virgin but Whisper was sexually experienced. She was a fan of ONS and while she continued to have them after "meeting" the hero it didn't bother me given there was no way they could be together nor have interest in each other in that way at that time.
I am apparently more possessive than Whisper because it really bothered me that Damon was very close to OW at the end of the story whereas Whisper liked her. Also Damon let different OW kiss him and his body reacted to it and I was not down with that.
I was not as much as of a fan of Whisper as I was of Damon. She was too stubborn, putting herself at risk and pushing Damon away. She came off hard to me and unfriendly.
There are a few hot sexy times including in the story, which is a plus. However, Damon and Whisper's separation bothered me and the story dragged for me during that time. I wanted them together, not apart. Also I am not a fan of the end of the story. It was HFN but ended abruptly and again with Damon close to OW. I will be reading the next book in the series because for the most part I enjoyed this one, mainly due to Damon.

I am always quick to say that I "normally" don't read fantasy, shifter, paranormal or other similar books but this book hooked me from the start and I loved it. While the story is about a future type world that involves special Agents and their shifter bondmates, it was definitely a love story and one that was decidedly real and very hot. Whisper is a female Agent with the United Army of Terran Protectors. I specifically mention that she is a female agent because she is the only one and also because she was never supposed to get through the Academy and definitely not supposed to reach Agent status. She works with her genetically enhanced Shifter, Damon who's sole purpose is to protect and work along her side while they fight "crime". While they have always has a special bond, it becomes very clear that they actually love each other. When Damon realizes that he can shift into a human which has been forbidden by law, things really begin to heat up between the two as they explore some off the chart sexual chemistry they share. If you thought that sex between a shifter and a human/terran could not lend give you some spicy images that you can use to add spice to your own romantic life, or at the very least your dreams then you haven't ever read the writings of Charlene Perry. This was my first read by this author but I quickly added her to the list of my favorite authors and who knows, she may have given me the push to where I start telling others that I have a new reading genre to claim as a favorite.

This is a well written futuristic shifter romance with strong characters and an intriguing story line. The author does a great job developing the story and pulls you in with her descriptive and detailed scenes. She gives Whisper and Damon a hot chemistry with a sizzling passion. The story moves quickly and smoothly and I enjoyed reading.

A good book but ... I don’t know the world is well made and all but the situations ? Are like seriously? And I like Damon but .... ok I like him and Whisper too she’s badass enough and all ....but the shifters just going away? Like “fuc* this human that raised me “ I didn’t liked it maybe I’m a little selfish but ....if you human was a dumb shit ok but if not ? What ? Just go away because they thought you was a pet so you’re angry now that you don’t need the link anymore? That pissed me off hahaha I’m thinking If my cat could do something like this uuuh gurlll !! Ok ok my other cat actually did something like this ...she had her motives and wanted a home with kids so she just got herself another humans, when I was like crazy thinking she was dead ( now is everything ok because I talked with her new human and all but fuc* it still hurts ) probably it’s what some good agents was thinking about their shifters ....yeah this book got a little personal for me hahaha

Wow, new twist for a shifter story
Really enjoyed this story, it gave a completely new twist on shifters. Plot and characters were very detailed and realistic.
Whisper and Damon were the sweetest intense couple. His love for her, as her for him, was absolutely the truest that can withstand anything. Their love started as a simple connection, which neither really understood, but bloomed and grown as they worked together. Damon had a moment when he needed to become human to save her, making that their tipping point. Damon always saw her as his mate, Whisper needed more time to come to terms with it.
It’s a great read! This is the first book in what is possibly a 3 book series.
Looking forward to the next book in this series.

Sometimes you read a book and wish that you had a special extra star button that you could use to give it six stars. This is one of those books for me. I have read so many shifter stories from mediocre to great, but this one outstanding. The story line is so much different than any other shifter story that I have read, the characters and dialogue are terrific and the world that Charlene Perry has invented is one that I truly hope we see a lot more of. The physical and emotional journeys that all of the characters go through is one that will keep you guessing from start to finish. I recommend this book very highly.

Whisper in the Dark is a well written book with shifters and their mates and how they are dealing with conflicts between work, life and love. There are some tastefully well written love scenes and the emotional parts are also well described. This is truly an enjoyable, action-packed love story with chemistry. This is a wonderful addition to any library and I cannot wait to read more from this author. A must read

This was such a brilliant story about courage, sacrifice, sexism, #metoo, discrimination, corruption, friendship, loyalty, determination, intrigue, duty, regret, hope, and love. Plus a healthy dose of yummy steam. The characters, especially the main ones, were fantastic, and the plot was enthralling. This book evades traditional boundaries of genre classification and is instead a futuristic scifi paranormal conspiracy adventure. Or something to that effect. I highly recommend this bingeworthy tale.

Too light on the details.
I was drawn to this story because of the shifter element however, this book falls more into the science fiction genre. Parts of the story were interesting but there was no real cohesiveness with the different plot lines. Whisper goes from one situation to the next without any one detail being fully fleshed out. There was minimal relationship building between the hero and heroine. One moment they are partners and the next they are in love. This could be a really good series with more world building and character development. The ending was rushed and the reader is left with many unanswered questions. Perhaps, they will be addressed in the second book in the series. Since that novel deals with two different main characters, I doubt the reader will get the answers they need to make this a truly fulfilling read.

Wow! This book was an amazing surprise! I LOVED this take on shifters and their connection to humans. It was so unique and, honestly, made me fall in love with Damon in a heartbeat! The romance between him and Whisper was fiery, tender, heartfelt.... and the plot was face paced and interesting. I binged this book in less than 24 hours and i have no regrets 🤣. I’m so excited for Hope’s story next!!!!

Firstly, I don’t love first person POV however, the intro drew me in and I enjoyed the first part of the story but sadly by about half way through it started to get murky for me and a wee bit waffly.
Breath needs to be corrected to breathe and the tiger had strips instead of stripes.

Best book ever. Caught my attention from the first page to the last. Fast paced storyline with lots of interesting twists. Great characters. Just the right amount of drama and suspense to keep it entertaining.

This is an intriguing and captivating story with a storyline that is filled with drama and suspense. Damon and Whisper have great chemistry between them. They are incredible and strong characters. This is an amazing read!

This was a different read for me and I really enjoyed it! Certainly kept on reading and enjoyed the sexual chemistry between Damon and Whisper. Steamy or what!
The ending kind of went off on a tangent for me to a degree and that's why I rated it 4 instead of 5 stars.
Certainly a recommended steamy page turning read. Damon and his shifter abilities were so hot! On the whole a well crafted story set in a futuristic sci fi world to keep you turning the pages.
Intended for an adult audience 18plus.

I loved this book from the first page to the last page. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. The plot was great and was set at a great pace so it was easy to read and keep my interest. I love this book because whisper proves that women can do anything a man can do and be. I love and hate that she has to keep proving that she is strong and tough enough to become an elite and move up the ranks but there will always be men that think they are more superior then women are and try to keep us women down. I love how she never gives up though. I also love how she has a male shifter as her partner to protect her and care for her because she is his mate. I also love that they are saving shifters and women from their corrupted leaders.

This was unexpectedly good. I was intrigued by the shifters and their interactions with the humans. Damon and Whisper, Whisper and Damon, a power couple if I ever saw one. I thunk they will set the trend for alk others to find mates and not just be pets for the Elite or the other Agents.
