Wolf shifter Delana is strong—and desperate. After an unthinkable, brutal attack on her village left her pack without its Alpha, their very survival is at stake. Finding a new leader from among the strange new shifters living on their land is her pack's only hope.
Khet's inner beast eats at his soul with ruthless intensity. A wicked curse held his people captive until it was finally broken, saving his pack brothers from its terrible legacy. But Khet's dark soul was too dangerous to be saved. Shadows consume him—and also keep him far from being suitable mate material.
Yet when Delana comes to him, sacrificing her pride to ask for his help, he recognizes her as his mate. Powerless to resist her beguiling temptation, he'll do anything to protect her. Even if it means going back to the Dark Lands—alone.
I loved this new series, it has darkness, despair, hope, passion and love all wrapped up in one, we meet a new type of shifter known as the Erritrol, just starting out anew after being in darkness because of a curse. They are a breed of wolves that are massive in size and wield magic. Most that were rid of the curse long to live in peace and love once again, but there are some that are still living in the darkness and seek to destroy anything that is good. They are evil that thrive on blood and mahem, they are beasts.
Khet although pulled out of the darkness believes he is still a beast and won't even eat meat for fear that the beast in him will emerge, that's why when a beauty comes barreling into him, he is taken aback by the strong feelings inside...His mate, but he cannot allow the mating for fear the beast will take over and hurt her.
Delana can't believe her lot in life, her pack is all but obliterated by the neighboring evil Mahehkan and now that she is so close to reaching out for help, she is chased right into a wall of massive muscle the likes she has never seen before..Maybe the goddess is smiling down on her. He is massive and all hers, her mate. Problem is he does not want her, but she will not give him up.
Read the trials and tribulations Delana goes through to have her man. There is action, mystery and magic in this gripping story.. It had me on the edge all the while I was reading it and I can't wait to read more.
Khet is bad. He's done evil things and now he doesn't deserve to live. Delana is desperate to save her pack from a stronger pack. Fleeing from them she leaps into the arms of Khet. They both know they are each other's mates. She's ready and willing but he keeps trying to leave her. The problem is the joint pack keeps getting attacked. I loved this story and it would have gotten a higher rating from me but sadly there were enough errors in the book to annoy me. I'd be reading along and suddenly I had to stop figure out what word the author actually meant because what's on the page isn't right. If I could I'd give this a 3.75 stars because other than these errors the story, characters, and plot are all good. It's worth stumbling through the errors to enjoy this book.
Dynamic, suspenseful and so exciting it'll keep you on the edge of your seat!
I loved Torment: Reckless Desires (Dark Wolves Book 1) for the simple facts: it was fast paced, suspenseful and it kept me guessing what the characters next move would be.
When Delana and Khet meet, I could feel their swirling emotions of being mates but the anguish of not being worthy as one and one not understanding, because their instinctual nature for loving mates.
Èlianne Adams is a talented author. One I will continue to read.
If you like to read paranormal books with a twist then Torment: Reckless Desires (Dark Wolves Book 1) is the right book for you. I know it was for me.
This wolf shifter romance is more of a sci-fi romance. Wolves from another dimension arrive through a portal, where their land is dark and evil, filled with wolf monsters that didn't gain their lupine souls back. Just thinks he is one of these monsters, but Delaine, who knows her pack needs rescuing by these strange wolves, also knows Just is her mate. If they can survive attacks from the evil portal wolves and the pack that has destroyed hers, she might be able to convince him he is worthy to stay and be her mate.
Clearly because its only 93 pages it seriously lacks depth. Given that we are talking about a whole new race of shifter wolf it would have been good to know about who they are, how they came about etc. So the beginning was pretty confusing.
This series has so much potential but with such shorts books I doubt it will ever reach it.
I have too many books to read to continue with a series the author can't put the effort in the adequately explain her concepts esp as I say when we're talking about an unknown species.
Disappointed otherwise a great book. What a waste!
Very different take on wolf shifters. Delana goes looking for shifters living on her pack land to help her pack defeat a shifter pack attacking and killing. Khet and his pack are shifters that are different but strong and agree to help. Short but well written with sexy moments, suspense, and excitement to keep you interested.
Something different about these wolves. A totally different take on werewolves. I really enjoyed this book and plan to read more by this author. I cannot make up my mind about when this is taking place, sometimes it feels like I am in Native American Indian times and others modern day. Very well written. Loved this group of people. A very interesting mix
The base storyline was a bit confusing - and we never find out who this woman that saved the pack really was . Lots of good fight scenes and shifting. I'm not a fan of the tormented hero rejecting the heroine over and over for her 'own good' so that probably is coloring my review.
This is a different shifter book. It has regular shifters and then some that are almost alien but they must band together to survive. It's a fairly quick read and held my interest so I would recommend this book.
This was a sweet romance full of action and an incredible man. The Dark Wolves are very afraid of being evil again. Each is finding happiness now that the curse is lifted. I did not like the first series, but I am thrilled the curse was lifted in time for this series.
Another good read from Elianne Adams. I enjoyed meeting this new group of shifters and their new existence in this world. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.
Take. Claim. Mate. Take. Claim. Now. Mate. Now. Claim. Mate. Now. Take. Mate. Mine. Now. What a HOWL WORTHY story!! Completely GRRRREAT!!! I ABSO-WOLF-LUTELY LOVE EVERYTHING about it! From the wolves, their languages, their history, the friendships, Mates, just ALL OF IT!! Elianne has out-wolfed herself, yet again!!! The way she tells her stories, the flow, the storylines themselves, it all works together to PAWFECTLY tell the story! Scratch that - it all comes PAWFECTLY together to transport you INTO the story, the descriptions, the little details, the characters, bring it all to life in my mind's eye so that I am living the story! I am there with the characters, even as the characters, seeing, hearing, experiencing, LIVING IT ALL through their viewpoints which become MY viewpoints! I love the different 'types' of Wolf Shifters, their histories, abilities, etc. It adds a whole new, refreshing pelt of depth, enriching the story even further! Elianne's stories are ALWAYS SHIFTACULAR and for me they stand out because she is able to make every single character, species and the worlds they live in all her own! I can't even imagine just how much thought, effort, research, planning, etc. Elianne does before she even starts writing her stories, but you know she does just that by how FURTACULAR her stories are EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. That is yet one more reason why I love, Love, LOVE her books so much! Elianne truly is one phenomenally talented author!! I truly CANNOT wait for more! Especially because all too soon those two little words I hate so very much - THE END - made their untimely appearance! But doesn't that always happen when you are reading a great, much loved book?!? :-)
I couldn't put this book down! The first in the Dark Wolves series and part of the Reckless Desires, this book has you captured in its spell from the first page.
Khet is a different kind of wolf shifter, he was from a place called the Dark Lands were his people have just been freed from a long curse which had made them into mindless beasts called Erritrols. Khet still could still feel the beast within him and was a battling for control with it. Everyday he would go to the portal and everyday he would return back to his pack winning over the beast for that day.
The Kormoro pack has been left devastated an attack from a neighbouring pack has left them with many wolves dead including their alpha. Delana, a strong wolf has volunteered to find help from the new pack in the area, but soon finds herself running for her life through the forest. When she finds herself running into something solid. Khet. Instantly they both recognise who they are to each other, but Delana pushes her pride aside and begs his pack for help, to which they agree. Can they survive an Erritrol attack?, Can Khet keep the secret of his beast from her?, can they fight the mating pull between them, do they even want to? And can they have the happy ever after they both so want but daren't hope for?.
I really recommend that you read this book, for a short story it packs a punch full. And leaves you wanting to read more from the series. If I could I would give more than the 5 stars allowed. It can be read as a stand alone, and I really can't wait for the next book to be released.
I felt like I'd stepped into the middle of a story when this book began. It's more circular than linear in its communication style, much like the old storytellers who hand down their history verbally. And that adds to the book's uniqueness and complexity, making the reader work a little, rather than just handing it over. In the end, I felt like I'd had front row seats to the events of the story, right there with the characters.
Delana's pack has been decimated by raids from a neighboring pack that wants their territory. She has been sent to a pack of newcomers to ask for help, but is nearly captured by the enemy on the way. A newcomer, Khet, rescues her and takes her back to his camp to talk to his alpha. The alpha agrees to provide protection in return for submission and shelter, which fits nicely into Delana's plans. But on the way back to her village, the newcomers are attacked by Erritrol, beasts who create energy balls that turn their targets into dust. And the newcomers respond in kind. When Khet is flanked by one of the beasts, she attacks it, but is no match and is badly injured. Khet has silently recognized her as his mate, but in spite of that he feels the uncontrollable curse of darkness of the Erritrol swelling inside him. He knows that to keep her safe from that darkness, he will have to take her to her home, then walk away and let her go.
Title: Torment Series: Dark Wolves Reckless Desire Destination: Book 1, Author: Elianne Adams Reviewer: Ingrid Stephanie Jordan Genre: #PNR #WolfShifters #ErritrolWolves My Score: 5 Stars ☆☆☆☆☆
♡•°•♡•°•♡•°•♡•°•♡•°•♡•°•♡•°•♡•°•♡•°•♡ Well this is my second time to read a book written by Elaine Adams The First book was a BoxSet, anyway I like how she write. Her characters are just awesome and add that to the mix , we have quite a story. In this book Ms. Elaine write a twist for the Wolf Shifter, why they come from a different dimension where they had the Erritrol Curse, plus they can though energy balls and when they die they "Puff" disappear leaving dust and the smell of burnt flesh. Delana is a she-wolf healer for the Komoro pack where there Alpha and many of there pack was murdered. BUT brave Delana ran for help only to be followed by the murderers, she ran hard for her life, where she literally ran into Khet who was a Erritrol Wolf. Khet took Delana to his Alpha Argram to ask for help. Argram said they would help. They did help and Argram became Alpha to the Komoro pack as well. I was gifted this ARC for an honest and truthful review.
THIS BOOK ROCKS! True torment was that it had to end. It's one of those books you just want to go on and on, it's like you just can't get enough of these Erritrol wolves. Once started you won't be able to put it down. Yes it's that good, from start to finish. You've got wolves that were cursed from another dimension (I'm assuming since there's a portal) that talk in grunts and bigger than the normal shifters. Oh and did I mention they throw like energy balls? Or that they dissolve when they die? Plus there's bad ones and good ones? This one is Khet and Delana's story but what about the alpha and his mate? You can't help but want to read more about Elianne Adams' Dark Wolves! I just love it when a writer comes up with a new twist on shifters. I received this copy in return for a honest review and honestly I WANT MORE! It's a MUST HAVE - NEED MORE feeling, trust me you'll feel the same after reading this book! HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR SHIFTER LOVERS!
I received an ARC of 'Torment' from Elianne Adams, in exchange for an honest review.
'Torment' was my first book by Elianne Adams, I have seen her name previously is boxsets & anthologies that I've read, but haven't actually read her work. So I jumped at the chance to advance read this, I'm so glad I did. 'Torment' is book 1 in Elianne's new series "Dark Wolves"... what an introduction.
Trying to find help after her packs alpha's have been killed, Delana races through the forest in search for the new pack, but the wolves that attacked her pack are chasing after her. Delana finds herself running into one of the wolves from the new pack, but will his pack help them??
There's so much information in this short story, getting little bits all throughout the book, allowing you to slowly learn whats going on, I'm pretty sure it's not everything, but it's more than enough to make me want more.
Erritrol wolves came to Earth from another dimension. Once cursed into their animal form and undertaking dark tasks, they broke free and are now settled. But Khet is struggling. He fears that the monster inside him will surface at any time. To combat this he is refusing to eat meat, in the hope that his veggie diet may weaken the monster.
Delana's pack is in trouble. A rogue pack has murdered her Alpha and her brother is just too young to lead their pack. She heads towards the new pack on their lands in the hope that they can become allies. Much to her shock the grunting behemoth that is Khet is her mate. When he doesn't react to her as his mate, she assumes that his pack do not believe in fated mates, but Khet feels the pull but doesn't want to pull her into his darkness.
Fabulous new read and superb twist on shifter story! Wolves flinging energy balls and evaporating after they die!! Looking forward to more in this series!
Khet and his pack are recovering from an Erritrol curse. Khet is certain a taint is still on his soul. Delana is running from the Mahehkan pack. She is trying to convince the new wolves to join forces with the Komoro pack so they are not destroyed like their neighbors. With no time to shift she runs over a rocky drop off and right into the bare chest of the biggest male she has ever seen.
Khet and his pack offer to help. Khet is avoiding meat as he knows it will bring out the darkness in him, and he is fighting the feeling Delana is his mate as he does not deserve her. Dangers from the Erritrol’s, Mahekhan’s and from within swirl while the mating draw causes Khet to mark, yet not claim her.
*A complimentary copy was given in exchange for an honest review*
Freed from the Erritol curse Khet feels that he is undeserving of the release and feels that he should return to the Darklands and give into the beast within him that threatens to take over. Running from the pack that is threatening to overtake her own pack Delana is in search of Khet's pack to join and aid her own pack and finds that Khet is the mate that she has wanted her whole life. Will she be able to overcome the beast within and save Khet from himself or will he run and leave her forever? I found this story to be a wonderful and amazing read and look forward to reading more about the rest of the pack.
I recieved this book in exchange for an honest review.
Delana is desperate to get support her her wolf pack. Khet is part of a pack that is strong but has a history unknown to Delana. He is afraid of what he will do and the darkness in him but very attracted to Delana. He has to decide if protecting her is worth the risk?
I have read many book by this author and always enjoy them. The characters are what makes the stories so good,
I enjoyed the story. Delana is willing to sacrifice herself to save her pack. She knows she and Khet belong together but she won't be the one to make choices for him. Khet is very conflicted and has to make some tough decisions.
