I never expected to fall ... especially for my enemy.

Stumbling upon a group of escaped demons changed everything, and the responsibility falls on me to protect Shadow City. As the battle rages on, a tug radiates from my soul, drawing me toward a sexy, mocha-eyed demon.

Though he voluntarily surrenders, I don't trust him.

I should've killed him then and there...

He's become the catalyst for even more demon attacks, but I can't give him up. Every moment we'd spent together strengthened the bond between us, and now, I'll do whatever it takes to keep him safe.

He's my enemy... my mate.

And he's either destined to be my future... or to destroy it. Either way it's too late.

I can only hope he's worth the cost.

Reading has always been one of my favorite hobbies, even as a little girl. When I was a toddler, my parents would read stories to me over and over. I would hear them so often that I had the books memorized and could recite the story word by word.

My favorite genres are fantasy, paranormal, and contemporary romance. So of course that's what I'm inclined to write.

I have a husband, two young daughters, and a mini Australian Shepherd. I've lived in Tennessee the majority of my life and love the state.

I'm extremely addicted to caffeine and enjoy drinking coffee and lattes.

Alright, after finishing the final book in the third trilogy of the Shadow City series, I moved onto the next series in this world. And I liked it. Except…I know not to expect top tier writing that pulls you in and is much more captivating, but that still doesn’t take away from the cheesy writing of this book.

However, I will admit, I like the world building and the magic system, even though I wished the angels in this series had more stronger magical powers. With that out of the way, I liked Rosemary and her character. We get to see more into her perspective and I am so excited because Jen wrote about angels finally! I mostly see wolf shifters on her part, so this is a nice refresh.

While I enjoyed the magic and the world building, the banter and angst between Rosemary and Levi left me feeling a little out of sync with the book. It was full of “will they, won’t they” and repetitive dialogue.

Now onto the next book!

ok

This book was OK but it was definitely not the greatest. I liked Rosemary from the previous shadow series that she was in but I was not too fond of this book. The thing that was most annoying was the fact that she was drawn to Levi and she had no idea what the feeling in her chest was. apparently the angels try to avoid emotion as much as possible so she didn’t even realize that she was feeling a possible bond between the two. It was really annoying to see how much he affected her and how much she seem to be simpering about it. I don’t think I’m going to read the next book in the series.

I felt like the first few Shadow City books were hinting it would be Rosemary & Killian. I mean, who wouldn’t want a new silver wolf bloodline? Idk, not on the side of her mated with a demon. Maybe the next few books will change my mind :(

"Here we go again, my friend"

The Shadow City gang is all back in Fallen Mate, the first book in the Shadow City: Dark Angel series, and this time the drama is focused on everybody's favorite angel.

This is Shadow City so of course, there was nothing but high drama, touching friendships, and enemies around every corner. I will say that this book was a little longer than I felt it needed to be but still enjoyable. I loved finally being able to see things from Rosemary's perspective. I finally got to see how her brain works and it was interesting seeing how angels differ from the other supernaturals we've come across. Their lack of emotional intensity was different and made them process things differently as well.

Rosemary was sorta aloof, she cared but the emotions weren't strong, she was more robotic but she was getting better, trying to learn social cues and understand popular says. Things in this book kinda go sideways when Levi makes an appearance, through him the story got interesting because not only do readers get more information about demons but his effects on Rosemary are unreal because she starts to develop emotionally. However, not all good, things between Rosemary and Levi were hard and emotionally painful for most of this book and I just wanted to scream at them because readers know what's happening but the couple is clueless.

Of course, the politics in this book was a pain. The angel Azbogah and his minions are up to the same old tricks, trying to rule over everyone and oust Sterlyn and her supporters. More attacks from a couple of fronts and I have a feeling that the worst is yet to come. At least the reasoning behind Azbogah's acts is revealed through history although that excuses nothing but it is a reason, a reason that makes him even more dangerous than I thought.

Fallen Mate was a great read, I enjoyed seeing things through Rosemary's eyes however by the end, this story was an emotional dumpster fire. Has me questioning certain things and wondering what could possibly happen in the next book. Rosemary's story is just getting started.

Here we are back again in Show City and this time Rosemary gets her story told. With the war still ongoing and they all have faced loss, bloodshed, and so much more, what more will they have endured before its all said and done. Rosemary not one for many feelings she starts to have an itch that she doesn't understand, but when she does it for a demon. Levi demon, still has his humanity also has feelings he doesn't understand, but he figures it out sooner. Will Rosemary fight her feelings or will she come to terms with them? Will they be able to save everyone or will they lose more in the coming battles? Another amazing, emotional, action packed read that gives you so much but will have you coming back for more. I so can't wait to read what she has next.

Rosemary has been one of my favorites for awhile now because if her no nonsense attitude and to see her find her mate in the most unexpected person was real shocking to me but I absolutely loved it and can't wait for the next book.

Wow! Roxanne found her mate and he is a demon! That will be hard for the angel to explain to her parents. There are still so many people working against the gang, but they keep chipping at it one enemy at a time. If they work together, they will get thru this like they have everything else. I can’t wait to see what happens next. Jen is awesome and her books are well written and keep you reading even if you are supposed to be doing something else like sleeping.

Even though this is supposed to be the first story in this series, I feel like I have missed out many other stories. People are discussed in this story like you are supposed to know their background already. Sorry but too complicated for me to bother to follow.

I grabbed this because it sounded right up my street - enemies to lovers and full of angst.

This starts with Rosemary out with her shifter friends when she senses demons in the area and goes to investigate, feeling a strange tug in her chest in the same area. As an angel, Rosemary sees demons as her natural enemy but when she meets Levi and realises the pull is towards him she pushes all feelings away and they decide to keep him away from his kind - who he claims want to kill him - and tries to ignore the sensation that is only growing worse the longer she's near him. Add in drama that's going on in Shadow City and Rosemary has a lot going on.

I did feel like I'd missed something when I started this with all the couples. This is the first of the Shadow City books I've read and we do get a bit of info-dump at the start of this but I still felt like I should know something about it already. It was strange.

I can't say I understood a lot of what was going on in Shadow City with Azbogah and the Council. That bit went right over my head - with my above comment of missing something. ⮙

The bit I was interested in was the thing that was slowly brewing between Rosemary and Levi. It started promisingly. Obvious opposites; an angel and a demon. An instant dislike but unable to deny the spark...and then it continued for most of the book - the dislike that is. I'm all for angst and enemies to lovers but this didn't feel like that at all. I didn't really feel their connection despite all the supposed feelings Rosemary kept squashing.

This one wasn't for me. I won't be continuing the series.

During a demon attack Rosemary’s hurt but is able to play it off, at the next battle they capture Levi who seems to have been hit by the same arrow from Cupid’s bow that she was. With all the angel narrow-mindedness, humorlessness and arrogance that can fit in a body, Rosemary vainly tries to categorize Levi. She’s an archangel, he’s a demon they’re enemies aren’t they? Plus, she can’t possibly be having feelings can she?!?

Rushing home after her mother’s attacked by shifters, Rosemary is headlong into yet another coup attempt by Azbogah fand leaves when she can’t resist the pull in her chest to Levi, arriving in time to see Levi helping Kira, shifter chief of police, fight off four burly shifters. Is this part of Azbogah’s scheme to control the entire council? Is Kira’s dad protesting a female being given so much responsibility or could it be something the scoobies haven’t thought of yet?

I've been waiting for Rosemary's story, and I'm thrilled to say it didn't disappoint. This circle of friends constantly finds themselves in the face of danger, and this book is no exception. The fact that Rosemary encounters her fated mate in the form of a Demon is brilliant. I couldn't help but adore Levi; his straightforwardness and the banter between them had me laughing.
However, the sex scenes - they seem to be stuck in a bit of a repetitive loop. I mean, we all know what adults do, but it wouldn't hurt to add a touch of creativity and surprise to keep things interesting.
As the story ventures into darker territories, like hell (yikes!), it's only natural to expect some fresh faces. But let's keep our fingers crossed that they bring something new to the table instead of sticking to the same old script. Here's to breaking free from repetition and unleashing some creative magic! 🌟

I can tell that the author put a lot of work into making an intricate world where each series is woven nicely together. Unfortunately, that is the reason why I could not enjoy this book as much as I could. I came in knowing there were other works that were tied to this one. However, I didn't know you HAD to read this in order to understand what was going on. If I knew, I wouldn't have picked it up! Because of that, it was difficult to remember who was mated to who, who can do what, etc etc.

It was pages and pages of references and relationships I did not understand. I kept reading expecting Rosemary's story to take over, but in the end, she still felt like a side character in her own book...

The romance was weak. I get the soulmate bond and all, but I felt like Rosmary and her man barely spoke.

The story has potential, but the amount of homework I have to do in order to understand this series alone makes me not want to read it at all.

We finally get Rosemary's story! And it was fantastic. A new character is introduced, Levi, and he is definitely a perfect fit for Rosemary. The story kicks off with a battle against demons and when it does Rosemary feels this yank. As she follows it she meets Levi. A demon. Who claims to want sanctuary because the Princes of Hell are after him and they have his father. No one wants to trust Levi and Rosemary is adamant that he is their enemy. But the yank in her chest and her feelings toward him are anything but evil. Yet, for the first time in her very long life she is starting to feel emotions. Angels are typically numb to emotions. They don't really get them. However, that changes for Rosemary the minute she meets Levi. But how can she trust a demon? Even one who claims to not be evil and that not all demons are bad? She knows he still hasn't told her everything and what if that hurts her friends? She wants to keep a strong wall between them but fate has other plans. Loved their story! Levi is funny and snarky and yet gets Rosemary in a way no one else does. So looking forward to the next one in this series after that cliffhanger!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I was excited to read Rosemary's story but it just left me feeling annoyed. I'm soooo tired of Sierra. I hope she dies at some point lol. Jesus!! The corny jokes at inappropriate times are just too much. I'm over it. I'm over the bickering and the wasted time dealing with trivial BS. Don't get me started on the banging at inoperatune freaking moments. Yall have plenty other sht to be worried about right now. And if Rosemary decides to fall to be with that loser, I'll be sooo pissed. I do not like him. It doesn't even make sense for them to be together. Idk if I want to continue the series at this point. I want to know what happens but don't want to be disappointed. I really do want to read Killian's story tho.

Ohhhhhh I wanna slap Levi so bad. STOP BEIGN AN IDIOT.

Just telll her what's going on. Wtf. Why are you so stupid. Ugg he's probably gonna be all like " no babe I'm trying to protect you" *eyeroll*
Please bitch Rosey is a badass angel who can literally kick your ass and she should.

But anyhoo let me get into the review.

So love it! It was great and even tho I didn't read the previous books I still knew what was going on, never did i feel lost or was like "what who this".

I definitely recommend.

And even tho I seriously want to kick Levi.. i do love them and I'm starting book 2 immediately.

Forbidden romance so good!

My angel meets fallen demon: insta rivalry and then love! it was everything i had hoped for! shes unique and possibly the most endearing character ever in Jens shadow world! Her bluntness and clueless ways to people’s feelings just makes me wana hug her!. We see Rosemary grow out of her comfort zone and slowly open up more and break down those walls. Im also a fan of this naughty demon! OMG that ending thought!?Heartbreaking! cant wait to see what happens next! A must read!

Excellent

Another great read in the Shadow City series, have always hoped we would get Rosemary's story and am certainly not disappointed. This group of friends always seems to be in the path of danger and this book is no exception and for Rosemary to come across her fated mate in the form of a Demon is just brilliant as she an upstanding righteous Angel Warrior has preconceived ideas regarding all demons maybe she is wrong or is Levi playing both sides. We need to read the next book to find out of he is good or bad.

Amazing

Rosemary is a strong, independent Angel. She has always been there through every story, helping her friends fight the good fight. All the while, watching them find their fated mates. This is a great start to her story.
As they are fighting demons, she feels a tug and she can't figure out why. Until she meets Levi. A demon that begs them to take him with them as he doesn't want to go back to hell. Will he give them information they need? Are him and Rosemary destined? A must read to find out.

Wow Loving These Wonderful Stories!!

These stories just keep getting better and better. Early on I had a thought about Rosemary’s birth and father. I will continue to read and see if I’m right. There were quite a few laughs and sadness as well. I don’t like giving away any of the details so I’ll say I love love love these characters and storyline so so very much. I don’t wish to go back to my historical romances any time soon. Highlanders, Vikings, Wolves and other Shifters perfect for my Kindle and Me!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜😊😊😊😊😊

Welcome back to Shadow City!! Buckle in y’all!! It’s a crazy ride!

I’ve been wanting to get to know a bit of Rosemary and finally we get her POV and it’s very interesting to see how her mind works.
So happy to see the rest of the gang is around Rosemary. I absolutely love this new interest. A dark mate, that’s not trustworthy. Yes!! I very much enjoyed this love interest. The narrator, Michelle Sparks did a wonderful job portraying the characters, using a variety of tones and inflections.

Love me some Rosemary!

Rosemary is a force! So awesome and such a warrior! I love that she's ridiculously blunt and tells people exactly what's on her mind. It's so nice to hear her thoughts and how complex she really is from her point of view. She goes through a serious rollercoaster of emotions and I'm happy for the reason why. Can't get enough of all these books! On to book 2!

Good story

...but not impressed with this cliffhanger. He tried to warn her and she didn't listen, then immediately assumed the worst when things changed. I had decent hopes this might play out with them fighting their battles together but it is not looking very promising. At least since they aren't shifters the ridiculous issues with nudity are not riddled throughout this one. That has been a major annoyance for me in these books.

I’ve been waiting for Rosemary’s story and this didn’t disappoint! I loved seeing the logical kind of emotionless Rosemary start to experience human emotions like the rest of the group and Levi seems like a good balance for her. You can kind of tell that Levi has his own agenda, what would you expect from a demon? But we don’t ever know what he’s up to and his personality really makes him lovable. There seems to be some good foreshadowing for the next book and I’m excited to see what happens.

Rosemary and a demon called Levi. I'm in love. This book was a great start to a new section of a familiar set up. Demons are easily my favorite of supernatural creatures and these are handled decently. Not all demons are bad, but then again, bad is a relative term in the eye of the beholder. I can't wait to read more.

Rosemary has been one of my favorite from the beginning. She doesn't beat around the bush. She is quick to react and logical as Emotions aren't really something she does well. But will she meets her match in the form of a demon? Wanting someone your not supposed to have well that's definitely a dilemma. This pnr is and enemies to lovers and it was absolutely worth the wait!

I knew with Rosemary's unique personality her mate would need to be just as unique. I wasn't disappointed. Levi is a perfect fit for her. Their love/hate relationship has so much simmering heat to it. As always it is great to see all the gang together whether it is fighting or just hanging out.
