This is a very dark, fantasy romance. Think Haunting Adeline but with Vampires 😍😍 who doesn’t love that combo??

Scarlett is our FMC and is the typical small town, early 20s girl who isn’t like normal humans in that she has a quick wit, smart mouth, and overcomes constant adversity especially at the hands of her sister (who we hate). Rune is our MMC, the vampire lord of the turned vampires (competing clan with the born vampire who are religious fanatics), Scarlets stalker, and my new book boyfriend.

When Scarlets sister is abducted by vampires, she moves from human territories to vampire territories to save her sister from sex/blood slavery from her vampire abductees. Little does she know that she moves into the territory Rune controls and coincidently goes to work for him.

Then, we see the start of the incredible dynamic between Rune fighting his obsession with Scarlet, his little flame, and Scarlets journey to independence and self love. There are plenty of bumps along the journey to include a monumental discovery by Scarlet about who she is.

Overall, I absolutely loved this book and enjoyed it. I’m about to read everything by this author until I get over this massive book hangover.

It does end on one heck of a cliffhanger (we are side eying you Maggie 😒). I normally hate when readers say “when’s the sequel coming out” because the poor authors are busy marketing the current book. But after that cliffhanger, when is book 2 coming out?!?

I don’t normally rate books I DNF (especially with so little pages as this) but I just found it so hard to carry on with the sub plot being what it is.

The blurb says the reason she is going to go to vampire city is to save her sister who got kidnapped. Great, no problems there.
Except when we start reading it’s shown repeatedly how her sister HATES her and is down right horrible to her. The FMC repeatedly gets SA’d and the sister says it’s her own fault and that she deserves it and treats her like scum of the earth every waking minute.
The FMC was going to leave her small town with her best friend but instead is going to go off and risk her life for her sister would absolutely leave her to die. Her bestie wants no part of it since they will both die trying to save her horrible sister when they were supposed to be traveling the world together. Then the FMC has the nerve to paint the bestie in a bad light for “leaving her” like the other people in her life did. Girl. If it was you that was taken, that bestie would have fought for you to the death. But fair he doesn’t want to die for your shitty sister.

I just can’t get into the plot even for the promise of a shadow daddy romance. It’s too enraging as a reader. Would have made more sense if it was her best friend that got kidnapped if we had to have that plot line.

This one started out really promising, and then it just got boring. I needed way more action and fewer internal monologs. For a story that's centered around a coming war, there's minimal action, just a lot of words and talking about the possibilities. And I struggle to get through books whose foreshadowing is so translucent I can figure out exactly what the big reveal is going to be, and how it's going to happen long before I finish the book.

I fucking hate the whole “you don’t know how much you love being a sub until I violently train you to be a sub because only I know what’s best for you” bullshit. ESPECIALLY when it’s layered on top of a SA victim fmc.

This whole book felt recycled. You know the story: enemies to lovers, lots of body betrayal, damsel in distress falls helplessly in love with the mmc, they admit their feelings, there’s a *~*shocking revelation*~*, mmc bails on her / breaks her heart, fmc gets kidnapped right as mmc decides he really did love her after all. Like tell me this isn’t the plot to 85% of romantasy out there right now. I’m tired, y’all.

This kinda felt like the author was just trying to tick all the boxes on the shadow daddy Dom bingo card. But it was crinnnnnge and ick. Rune gave Scarlett the nickname Little Flame when she was 6 YEARS OLD and he was stalking her, and yet still called her that when he was fucking her as an adult. All the ick. Like I shriveled up and died inside from second hand embarrassment during the smut scenes. And that’s just not the vibe.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book from the author and I am so glad that I got the chance to read this! I absolutely loved this book and can't wait for the second one to come out!!

This story follows Scarlett and Rune as they navigate their relationship after Scarlett moves to his city to find her kidnapped sister. I loved the way that Scarlett was written and how throughout the book she began to work through her insecurities and trauma from her youth. To watch her friendship with Snow blossom and to watch her gain confidence in herself was so well written. Maggie wrote this character perfectly and portrayed the FMC in a way that everyone can find something in her to relate to.

Rune is intense and a true shadow daddy. He is everything you want in a MMC in a dark romance book and he does not disappoint. His chemistry with Scarlett is undeniable and their scenes are spicyyy. That being said there is a still a plot to this book that adds intrigue to the smut.

I can't wait for the next one after that cliffhanger and I will definitely be picking up this author's other books in the meantime! I highly recommend this book, but make sure to read the trigger warnings before you do!

stop because my I am raging in the best and worst way right now, this book was fucking EVERYTHING.

Stalked by Seduction and Shadows is a dual POV and follows our two MC’s, Scarlett and Rune.

Scarlett is a seductress. Using her skills in seducing men to survive and help take care of her older sister Isabella (who can kick fucking rocks). Scarlett always felt different, her sister hated her, and her family and friends, or lack thereof only fed into the feelings of inadequacy. When she makes the decision to leave her village, her plans are derailed. When presented the option of saving someone who only wished the worst for her, or starting a new life, which will she choose?

Rune, our MMC, is an ancient dark lord, vampire shadow daddy, fueled by his obsession with his mortal. Though he swore to never interfere in her life, fate had other plans. Is this all a ruse to make him weak, or can he truly be rid of desire?

This a dark fantasy, with some dark elements, so please check your trigger warnings before diving into this one.

I was hooked from page one with this story. The writing is so beautifully done, and Maggie does a phenomenal job writing the impacts of trauma and the objectification of women. There were so many moments I related to Scarlett with her feelings of inadequacy, which truly made the book that much more impactful.

I personally think the plot to spice ratio was perfect, where there is more plot than spice. However, if you’re not a reader that enjoys spice, you may think differently. With that being said, for my spice readers, that shit was GOOD. 😮‍💨

The last 10% had me raging, because what do you mean I loved Rune this entire book and then it felt like he pushed me off a 200 story building with no warning? Do better Rune, I’m mad at you.

Also, honorable mention to Snow, because she is the type of friend every single person deserves to have in their life.

It does end on a pretty hefty cliffhanger, so you will definitely want book two in hand!

this was unhinged, but a good time. i loved the fmc, a bleeding heart fmc always calls to me. i liked the mmc so much until the end and then i was MAD! i need to read book 2 immediately for resolution, lol.

i liked this a lot, though there was a TON of inner dialogue and it did drag on a bit at parts i enjoyed this, and if you like darker romance in your fantasy, this will 1000% be for you, but please check your triggers first!

Well folks, I think I just found my favorite read this month taking my two favorite genres of dark Romance and fantasy and combining them in one you get this masterpiece of a book.
I would just like to preface by saying this is a DARK fantasy there are dark themes in here. Please check your trigger warnings before reading this one. There is a link with her triggers you can view prior to reading for a reason.

Now onto the good stuff you have our FMC Scarlett, who is constantly shut down by the people that are supposed to love and support and uplift her. They look down on her cast her aside are envious of her. She’s constantly viewed as a sexual object and she has severe trauma because of the fact that people either want something from her, to use her, abuse her or hate her because of how drawn men seem to be to her.

That doesn’t stop her flame from going out tho oh no, she dreams of leaving her Bigot of a town to see the world.

Now Our MMC Rune? He’s an unhinged turned vampire and He is morally f*cked he surpasses the line for morally grey in the best way.

He’s been stalking our FMC and visiting her island every few years since she was a child because she reminded him of his humanity that he refuses to let go of so he continues to routinely check in on her. As time goes on, she blooms into a woman and surprise surprise. He’s head over heels for her.

Then one day her sister is taken by these Born vampires when it should’ve been our FMC. Scarlett imparts on a mission to find her sister and travels to the vampire aisle to confront the king of turned vampires to uphold his treaty with the humans and to find her sister, but surprise surprise that king would be our MMC Rune.

The spice in here was spicen, some of the most beautiful quotes I have read in a book, and I was tearing up for the FMC.
Ar the end there is a cliffhanger and a plot twist you’re gonna rage you’re gonna cry. You’re gonna feel all the things so go read this book.

Wow.... Where do I begin?!

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC copy of this stunning book and let me tell you as a first time arc reader wow my mind is blown. The multitude of emotions I'm currently feeling is a whirlwind haha!

Firstly, Scarlett... I see you girl. I truly felt for Scarlett the whole way through. The fact she felt no one could ever love her!? Just uuuugh she is such a loveable character and totally misunderstood by the people who were supposed to love her unconditionally growing up... literally heart breaking. The truth is Scarlett is Strong, genuine, generous, witty, intelligent and just beautiful inside and out. Maggie conveyed the true nature of her character so perfectly. I think we could all relate to Scarlett in one way or another.

Rune... You naughty naughty man. I am OBSESSED you are a barrel of unhinged deliciousness and I want, no... NEED a bite. You had me feeling all hot and bothered that's for sure! But that ending sir?! ... You better do better in the next installment. I can't wait for us to see more of that humanity you try so hard to pretend not have.

Overall this book was just magical to read and that's thanks to Maggie's beautiful writing. I've related on so many levels to the characters in this book and for me finding something that's relatable to real life in fantasy books just makes me sink into them all the more! So thank you for aiding my escape from real life.

Cannot wait for the next book 🥰

Okayyy this book is WILDLY UNDERRATED that it is criminally offensive.

Like where is my vampire stalker shadow daddy wanting to take care of me 🥲 LIKE IS THIS SO MUCH TO ASK?? I am beyond obsessed with these two and will continuing their story ASAP!! Like Rune could easily say get on your knees and well WOOF indeed. And like his obsession knows no bounds but tbh it’s just one his many charms. I say ‘morally’ you say ‘gray shadow daddy’ I melt. I fold. I weep.

I adored Scarlett and like can we besties already. I appreciated so much the way mental health and trauma was represented

Okay I go touch some grass and rethink some life choices but yeah these two will be in my head until further notice.

And like he can call me whatever he wants and I’ll just call him mine..

Her journey into finding her own two feet and confidence was so well plotted.

Although I am terrified for book 2 because we clearly like to ruin ourselves with these cliffhangers I AM MORE THAN READY.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!

The meet up was all worth the wait! I screamed, I squealed, I was so happy.

I love Rune and all his red flags, that possessive, obsessive stalker kind of love. But, I am also mad at him because how could he? Thank Helia some senses got knocked back on him.

And then, there’s Scarlet, a seductress, our little flame. I was scared for her and in pain for her. Her loneliness is deep rooted and I was so happy to see her slowly receive that kind of love that she got.

I love Snow. We all need a Snow in our life. The kind of friendship that doesn’t judge and just love

This is easily my fav book of the year, or dare I say of all time? Yes. The level of possessiveness and power that Rune holds is so freaking sexy and his stalker tendencies… makes me love him so much more and I wonder what that says about me.

I love the dual POV and how the story flows really nicely. The multiple tease, push and pulls, flirtations in the first part of the book and the eventual spice came at such a perfect time - it wasn’t too draggy or too quick. It’s just perfect. This book has the perfect amount of omg moments too. And the that heartbreak nearing the end, goshhhh. I am so jumping into book 2 right away and already know that I’m going to love it (while at the same time mildly sad that this is just a duology).

Can’t wait for more from author Maggie Sunseri!!

⭐️ 5 There are no questions in my mind that this is a 5 star read for me and I will be going INSANE until the next book is released because of the cliffhanger this book ended on. If you enjoy fantasy and darker reads such as Haunting Adeline, pick this book up RIGHT. NOW. You will not regret it. I not only thoroughly enjoyed the spice in this book between Scarlett & Rune, but was entranced by the plot and relationship building. Picking this book up, I thought it would be a lighter read between larger fantasy novels, and that was not the case in the best way possible. I am obsessed with the characters and storyline of this book. Rune & Scarlett are my new roman empire

I received this book as an ARC. It was enjoyable, but not a must read. I both liked and disliked it. I feel like things were not fully explained and you were dropped into a world and forced to figure things out. Scarlett was an annoying FMC and I didn’t really care what happened to her. What a heart wrenching and beautifully heartbreaking story, I absolutely eat up an FMC who has faced so much turmoil that your heart bleeds for her. No matter what our little flame went through she never let her light burn out and I absolutely adored her! Scarlett was everything I relate to in an FMC and more. Her emotional intelligence, her ability to love and still let her light shine, her questionable actions in regard to seeking approval from those who hurt her (it creates room for character development fam!), the way she wants adventure and to learn herself while exploring the world, I just couldn’t help but fall in love with her while having my heart ripped open for what she’d been through.

RUNE THE RUTHLESS! IM ON MY KNEES FOR THIS MAN! Your honour, I’m in love with a stalker vampire lord and so help me god I’ll scream it from the rooftops because THIS MANNNN!!! Unhinged, possessive, domme, cheeky AF and gets on his knees for her and her alone. Stop I literally have no words. The ending had me so unwell though. That’s all ima say 🥲

I ate this entire thing up from start to finish. I loved the plot, I DEVOURED the romance/spice, I loved the political plotting, I loved the characters/character arcs, and I was ENTHRALLED with the writing!! Maggie had me wanting to annotate the whole book because of her writing to be honest. The way she captured such traumatic experiences so beautifully was my favourite thing about this book and I can’t emphasise enough how much I loved it!

My brain chemistry has been altered and I couldn’t be happier for it! The ending of this book was ruthless and I need to have book 2 implanted in my brain IMMEDIATELY!!

If you love dark romance and you also love fantasy and vampires, this is the perfect book for you. This is a very dark stalker romance with vampires, witches, morally grey characters, touch her and die, found family and more! Although this is a bit out of my typical comfort zone, I still really enjoyed the story. I am not a dark romance girly, so some of this was a lot for me and I skimmed some of the spice scenes, but overall I definitely would still recommend this. I adored our FMC, she has gone through so much and is still a vibrant, bright light. Our MMC is unhinged and a bit insane but I actually still really enjoyed his character until THE ENDING????!!!!! Need a sit down chat with Rune ASAP. Honestly, my favorite part of this book was the found family, specifically with Scarlett's friend Snow. Also, shoutout to the writing/writing style-I loved it!! Will definitely be reading book 2 asap!

When I heard an mmc that was a combination of Slade, Rhys and Zade.. I just about damn near fainted. Sadly, Rune wasn’t it. I was thinking the Slade comparison was going to be the “I’ll be the villain for you” vibe, but nope. Rune has some shadow/thorn kinda magic going on that was vaguely similar to Slade’s rot. Maybe that’s where the Rhys comparison comes from too bc I can’t see any Rhys in him otherwise. As for the Zade one, okay stalking duh, but that was it.

And the fmc Scarlett just gave me pick me girl energy and I didn’t have fun being in her head.
