The Elf King of Alfheim's got some explaining to do.Werewolves, vampires, and witches have been allowed to live-and cause problems-in Arne Odinsson's domain. The other Elven Courts want an explanation, and when the Elf Emperor calls a Conclave in Las Vegas, Arne and his people have no choice but to defend themselves. With his control of Alfheim riding on the quality of his Conclave witnesses, Arne sends Frank Victorsson and a werewolf, Remy Geroux, to track down a reformed succubus whom Alfheim helped centuries ago. But when Frank makes the mistake of offering his services to a trickster god, he and Remy must navigate not only angry spirits and elven politics, but also a horde worse than vampires-cosplayers. Because where would an international Elven Conclave happen? At the world's largest international cosplay gathering, of course.Welcome to Las Vegas's own "Elfcon," baby. May we all survive.
I received an ARC copy of Northern Creatures in exchange for a voluntary review.
Sent to Las Vegas to the international Elven Conclave to be witnesses for the king of Alfheim, Frank Victorsson and Alpha werewolf, Remy Geroux, are to also seek out a succubus in four days time. They are met with sneaky kitsune, an uncooperative troll who likes to throw psychedelic scat when she's angry, trickster spirits, and magical enchantments galore all during an ElfCon while the mundanes (non-magical beings aka humans) are walking about and told to keep a low profile. No pressure, right?
This is the third novel in the Northern Creatures series and throws you right in assuming you have read the first two books in the series. I read the book as a standalone and while I would have enjoyed it a bit more having had the entire back story that did not detract from the fact that I couldn't put this one down. I will definitely be going back to read books one and two ASAP. I do really recommend starting from book one, Monster Born. Kris Austen Radcliffe writes with a perfect blend of detail and action that has you on the edge of you seat just anticipating that next turn of the page. I can't wait to read her other series as well. If you like urban fantasy this series is sure to get you hooked.
Book 3 starts off right where book 2 ended so you really need to read these in order to understand the story completely and believe me you do not want to miss a single piece of this amazing tale. As with the previous books we are introduced to more magical characters. The characters are in depth and their magic is unique and interesting. I love the descriptive writing of the Author, you can really see the story as it unfolds. The Author does a fantastic job at answering questions but also leaving breadcrumbs and leaving you wanting to know more. I am thoroughly invested in these characters and looking forward to more of the journey with each new release.
This was a fantastic read. The author's genius idea of holding the elf enclave during Elf Con was fabulous. Since I came in on book three, I missed the vampire fight, however the story still flowed smoothly and pulled me right in till the last page. I love how there is more than one mystery to be solved here & how well developed the characters are. Among elves, werewolves, some trickster gods & an old entity there is a bit of comedic relief in a granny troll. And let's not forget the mysterious lady that Franks seems to forget.. Now I'm off to read book one & two.
I voluntarily agreed to review this book, and was given an Advanced Reader Copy to do so.
What happens in Vegas does not always stay in Vegas - especially when conventions and elven politics are concerned. What is an introverted and occasionally violent monster to do? It was absurdly funny to witness Frank's attempts to be unobtrusive and diplomatic - these are so not his fortes, as he unfortunately proved. The only visit to Vegas that turned out worse than this is the one described in Larry Correia's "Monster Hunter Legion". Still, I really appreciated Arne's ability to find opportunity in adversity and to make a virtue of diversity; if only, humans could do the same regularly.
This is a great series. I really enjoyed it. However know that this is a faced paced book. There are many characters, although all very entertaining. This book pulls you in various directions and leaves you scratching g your head or at least I did. The twists, the turns the plots.
Frank doesn’t get himself out of one thing before he’s full fledged in another. Great story lines.
Gotta day I really like Remy and the friendship he and Frank share. Can’t wait to read the next book. I somehow foresee Ellie Jones being a thorn of some kind. Lol
Received this book for free/ARC am voluntarily reviewing, Stunning 3rd book in the Northern Creatures series, Each piece of the story draws you in harder. Such incredible characters, each of whom you wish to know further, Couldn't put the book down till i finished, cannot wait for the next book. Highly recommend reading.
Love this book! A wonderful addition to the Northern Creatures series. I, for one, can't wait to see what else is in store for Frank.
In this book we get to travel to Vegas with Frank and Remy as they prepare for a large gathering of elves. Their mission? Find a possible succubus. Should be easy, right? Not when the tricksters are involved...
An interesting read and an enticing book. It keeps you captivated and makes you want to read more. My only qualm with the book is how focused on the main character the plot can be. I really wish the books explored and integrated the other characters into the plot. There is so much potential. But still an enthralling piece of literature, if a bit convoluted at times.
The synonymous says it best. I really can't add anything without giving spoilers. Thank You Kris Austen Radcliffe for another mind blowing series. I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Frank and Remy take on an assignment at ElfCon in Vegas, and trouble is not far behind. I'd recommend this book to fans of fantasy with adventure just around the corner.
Another great book by this author. Love her work love her books. Makes the imagination work on over load. I recommend this book for those who like to get lost in a book and carried away... not going to give anything away from this book... read it to find out
Amazing narration by Mike Carnes and Julianne Scott. Loved these stories and will definitely continue the series. Frank, Sal and Ellie are my favorites! Elves, Vampires, werewolves, Frankenstein’s monster, trolls, trickster…. You name it they are all here. What a fascinating series!
Another amazing story in the Northern Creatures world. I lived meeting the new characters and getting to know Remy. I can't wait for the next in the series.
Like the mingling of characters and genres. Coupled with authors writing, works really well to create vivid imagery. Love devouring each and every story.
Another great story in the Northern Creatures series. So many magical entities, mysteries and adventures in this series keeps me coming back for more. I went ahead a bought the entire series so far (up to book 6)! Great world building and descriptive magical interactions. The series is a lot like if you mixed Norse Mythology, Frankenstein, Dracula and Elves all together and threw in some American Gods. Definitely Recommended.

Kris Austen Radcliffe has done it again. Like the other two books in the series thus far I wasn't able to put down Elf Raised until I was finished! It did make for a long day at work after reading until 3 am, but for more stories like this, I would gladly be slightly tired than have to put the book down at the best part! While I've never been to Las Vegas myself, I can totally imagine how Frank & Remy felt in the desert, with the heat & tricksters all around them. I can't wait to see what happens next with the people of Alfheim.
In book three of the Northern Creatures series, Frank Victorson is back and recovering from his run-in with his sort-of brother. However, he still struggles with the concealment enchantment surrounding Ellie Jones. With the vampires out of the picture for the time being, the denizens of Alfheim have other things to worry about, such as whether Arne's father-in-law will blow a gasket over the goings on in Alfheim.
It seems that the other elf kings, Arne's father-in-law in particular, are skeptical at best about the wisdom of Arne's policy of fraternizing with non-elves. The elves, in their infinite wisdom, decided to call a conclave, in Las Vegas. Because nobody is going to notice a bunch of elves running around Vegas. Arne sends Frank and Remy, one of the werewolf alphas, ahead to scout for a favorable witness, who will, hopefully, tell the rest of the elf kings favorable things about Alfheim. Not surprisingly, it turns out that not all in Vegas is as it seems (shock) and a convention of elf royalty may be the least unusual thing on the agenda.
From the get go Frank and Remy stumble into brick walls in their attempts to find their witness. The other conclave attendees turn out to be, at the least, unhelpful and sometimes downright disruptive of their efforts. To top it off, the city turns out to be teeming with unexpected supernaturals. All the while, Frank battles the sense that he is forgetting something very important. Arne and the rest of Alfheim's continent finally arrive, but the meeting doesn't go as anyone expected. Despite all of their precautions, the elves make a spectacle of themselves, but it's Vegas so I'm not sure that anyone really noticed. Alfheim gains unexpected allies and Arne proves beyond a shadow of a doubt why he is the king. As an added bonus, Frank may have been granted a means of finding a way to not forget Ellie, if he brushes up on his Japanese. Now, if we could just figure out what those pesky vampires are up to. *arc received*
