This is the classic tale of Goldilocks and the Three Bears which many children will be familiar with. It is accompanied by colourful illustrations and text which is laid out in different ways, such as on an arc. It would be suitable to read with FS and KS1 children, when I was on placement in Year 1, I used a similar book on the same story in music lessons to teach pitch, with children using different pitched drums to portray the three bears, which they enjoyed and also helped understanding for the term pitch and was a practical activity which helped with characterisation. They also joined in with what the bears said as many of them were very familiar with the story. It could also be used for children to write alternative endings, or hot seating Goldilocks or any of the bears could be a good activity to accompany the story and explore the characters in greater detail. There are teaching ideas at the back of the book too. It’s also a good length to read as a class story before lunch or at the end of the day, particularly with FS children.
This is the classic story of Goldilocks and the three bears - One day, whilst walking in the forest, a girl named Goldilocks saw a house, so went in to investigate. She found three bowls of porridge, one of which was just right for her. She then investigated three chairs, one of which was just right for her, and finally three beds, one of which was just right for her. The three bears came home and found someone had been eating their porridge, sitting in their chairs, and sleeping in their beds! Goldilocks ran away when she saw the bears, and never came back again. This is quite a short story but has some lovely illustrations. At the end of the book there are teaching tips for parents and teachers which is a nice touch. There are links to different subject areas: English/Drama: Children could make stick puppets or masks and create role play activities. Maths: This is a great book for looking at ordering size as you could order the bears, porridge bowls, chairs, beds)
Again, obviously a classic. This is the same, good old story you remember from your childhood but it has just been revamped with new illustrations. The writing is curved across the pages in places, and the illustrations take up a span of both pages on each turn. This would be a great version of the story to read to or with your children. I enjoyed the inviting cover that showed sweet looking bears peering in on Goldilocks as she sleeps. This is a book for younger children, a classic story that all children should know.
I enjoyed this book because of the great pictures it has in it. The pictures were colorful, inviting, and pulled you into the story. I really liked how every sentence had a picture with it to keep children entertained. I also felt like the author did a great job at retelling this story. The words were not too difficult for children to read or understand. The book gives great detail, making you able to imagine the story without the pictures.
I loved the artwork in this children's book, it was amazing. There was so much detail everywhere I looked. Each page was full of designs. For the designs they used a variety of shapes such as triangles, squares, swirls etc. When I was reading I had to look at each page of artwork for a couple minutes because there was so much to look at. The artwork correlated really well with the story.
This book was very appropriate for the age group it is intended for. The illustrations were great and children will love looking at each page. Askew tells this classic story with such simplicity that even beginning readers will be able to follow along and understand. I highly recommend this book for young children.
I loved this little book! There is not a whole lot too it. It's quite short, but I just loved the artwork in it. The bears look genuinely perplexed and Goldilocks is just adorable. The re-telling itself was also super cute. I love the added personality by the way she spreads the words out to fit with certain pictures on the page. Just a super adorable book.
I think this book is perfect for children. The illustrations are great which will keep them interested in reading the story! I also like how at the end there are teaching tips for parents and teachers. This could really help me if I go to read this book with a student or a whole class. Overall this book was one of my favorites I have read.
Although this edition was using the traditional goldilocks story the illustrations and layout enhanced this edition! The illustrations were simple but very cute. The words were placed intermingled with the photos, making the story more entertaining and interactive for the child.
This book is a simple retelling of Goldilocks appropriate for young children. The pictures are fun with cute critters in the background watching the story unfold. It also has notes and discussion questions for parents and teachers in the back that would be very useful.
