The Manor on Orchid Lane

Rate this book
Florence Cabot is trapped. In her marriage to an abusive Lord whose only love in life is to further his status. In the city estate they had moved to at his behest. In the society functions she was forced to participate in. In the confines of being a woman in the year 1852.

Her unhappy life is turned upside down by an unexpected letter from the town widow, requesting her company. The Manor on the hill is imposing and impossibly beautiful, with fresh air and gardens that reach for acres past where her eyes can see. And though this place’s charm is undeniable, there is something mysterious about the building and Florence finds herself staying much longer than she ever could have anticipated at the Manor on Orchid Lane.

Wes, his younger adoptive brother Koen and their best mate Clay are hunters. Intimately aware of the eldritch horrors that lurk in the peripheral of decent society. In a well loved beat up Bronco, they travel North-Western Europe slaying the monsters that civilians are unaware of. Protecting those who cannot protect themselves.

After a ghoul hunt goes bad, the three men crash through the abandoned doors of a mansion while looking for a place to lay low and recover. Unaware of the captured inhabitant they are disrupting.

The Manor on Orchid Lane is a paranormal reverse harem following Florence, a young woman from the 1800s who gets trapped in a magical estate, and three men, Koen, Wesley, and Clay, who stumble into the home 150+ years later, only to find its inhabitant is seemingly in between human and other. Unwilling to leave and risk leaving Florence on her own or someone stumbling upon her, the four settle down in the manor to solve the mystery of her immortality and the ever-changing estate.

This romance was absolutely captivating, from beginning to end! I loved that there was a dual timeline, and we saw Florence's life before everything. It truly gave so much more depth to the story and characters. The romance and steam were so good. I loved that all the boys had their own relationship with Florence, and each one was unique, from instalove to slowburn. The chemistry and pining were on another level. Beyond the romance, the writing and plot were stellar, the ambiance of the manor and mystery was truly enigmatic and had me questioning everything. My one single hold up with the rating and book was the length, I do think this could have been 100 pages shorter and the story would have been the same.

~Many thanks to Aubrey Taylor and Rowan Stone for an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.

Florence Cabot you lucky woman.

This was such a fun and equally thrilling read. I was intrigued by the manor since its introduction. Florence Cabot is our lovely leading lady who has been trapped inside the Manor for over 100 years, when three monster hunters stumble into her home and fall in love with her as they attempt to free her from the cage that is The Manor on Orchid Lane.

Florence is such an empowering character and I’ve loved navigating her journey with her. It can’t go without saying the growth and steps she takes fighting back not only what she’s been through but what’s expected of her is applause worthy.

Each of the boys held a piece of my heart. Clay being the nerdy tattooed protective one, Wes being rough and sexy, and Koen a sweet and caring soul with a dirty mouth. I adored Florence and Wes’ banter. I lived for when Clay would read her poetry. Koen giving her all the gentle moments she so needed. People call this “why choose” and I couldn’t agree more, because if I had three hot men all vying for my attention, I too, could not choose. I felt like I’d jumped back into the world of Supernatural with spice and a giant mystery that needed to be solved. I applaud the authors for truly keeping me on my toes the entire time. I would’ve never guessed how this would end, but I’m more than happy on the note it ended on. The rock, paper, scissors at the end had me giddy (iykyk). If these two decide to collab again I’ll gladly request another ARC!

Thank you Aubrey Taylor and Rowan Stone for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. 🥀

Thank you Aubrey,Rowan and team for sending me an arc to review. All opinions are my own!
I loved this book so much! first of all this book has so many great tropes: slow burn, found family, forced proximity and why choose. I loved how this story had to time lines and the characters chemistry was incredible from the beginning not only romantic but also platonic chemistry .Florence was an incredible character she was so lovable but also such a force to be reckoned with, she definitely kept the boys on their toes. Wesley was so grumpy and stubborn but fell so hard for Florence! Koen on the other hand had absolutely no issues expressing his feelings and was the true definition of a golden retriever mmc. And last but not least my personal favourite character Clayton the hot nerd! I loved his personality and how he wanted to protect the people he loved and was always willing to help, and can we talk about the TATTOOS!!! they just made him 10x more attractive. This book had me kicking my feet, it had the perfect amount of plot to spice ratio and I loved the twists and turns in this book, the mysterious spooky vibe definitely got me in the mood for autumn.I would definitely recommend reading and will be reading more from these authors!☺️

“she finally looked over at me and there were those eyes. they burned into me, piercing and sad, reminding me i never stood a chance against her.”

i honestly don’t know where to start with this review, but i do know that i have found another favourite book written by aubrey taylor.

the only thing i looked up before reading this book were the tropes, and each interaction that florence had with wes, clay, and koen had me giggling and kicking my feet once their feelings were starting to be revealed.

this was mysterious, nerve wracking, heartbreaking, anxiety inducing, sad, happy, full of love, and so many other things all at once. despite the boys’ apprehension at first, each and every one of them loved her in their own unique way.

i loved seeing clay try to figure out the secrets of the manor and what was really happening within its walls. wes, i appreciated that he was at odds with himself and his feelings, and it just made sense that he was the one to be so confident in his beliefs about florence and the manor. and koen, sweet koen, he was such a golden retriever, and i adored how much he cared for florence and how attentive he was when it came to her (spicy scene with clay AND koen, i am looking at you).

i cannot recommend this book enough, and even though i am so sad i’ve read it all, i cannot wait to see what aubrey has in store for the future.

First, I think I was the one who got thrown across the room 👻This book was the perfect read during spooky season. It really pinned me down from the very start! Aubrey and Rowan are so dang talented! Their words are captivating and the scenes felt so vivid it was easy to feel like they came to life. The chills, gothic settings and the mystery around the haunted manor was both eery and kept me on my toes about the clues of the many ”why” and ”how” echoing inside my head.

We get to follow Florence in the past and present to what led her to the path of being trap inside the manor. Who she was and how she’s dealing with her new life. It’s interesting with crumbs for us to collect to give us leads of her and the manor’s fully untold story. It gets even more interesting when the monster hunters Clayton, Koen and Wesley, stumbles upon the manor and finds her. We get to see the manor revealing another side and Florence getting familiar with a new outside world and how to adjust to it, with the 3 men also having her to adjust to new emotions that lights up the energy inside with tons of sparks!

I love Florence for never stopping to do what’s right and always letting her heart lead the way. When setting her mind onto something, she’s full of power and will.
Koen is this charming boy who lets his emotions basically pour out from his big heart! He’s so funny and the golden in the golden retriever is shining so bright my cheeks are burning from smiling!
Wesley is a storm of grumpiness and the banter between him and Florence was like thunder! They key to his heart is well hidden under a haystack but once you find it, he’s willing to always keep his heart open to the ones he loves and Florence and his relationship erupted beautifully!
Clayton is such a sweetheart (also hot nerd warning) who never stops to fight for the right answers. He makes sure everyone is safe and sound, both emotionally and physically. Team Clayton over here! 🤍

Thank you so much Aubrey and Rowan for giving me the opportunity to arc read! The Manor On Orchid Land is now available on Amazon and KU!

I am reading anything Aubrey Taylor touches so signing up for this was a no brainer. Have I watched Supernatural? No. Did I really even know what this book was about? Also no. But like I told Aubrey, she tells me what I need. 😂

Florence Cabot’s story is gripping, tragic, and unexpectedly empowering. Trapped in a life where her every move is controlled by a cruel husband, her quiet desperation is palpable, making her escape to the mysterious manor all the more exciting. (In the words of my 4 year old… “what’s gonna happen?” 🤭)

The eerie charm of the mansion is masterfully described, with its sprawling gardens and haunting atmosphere creating the perfect backdrop for this spooky romance. I loved how the slow build of suspense is woven into the story, making you question the true nature of the manor.

And then, enter Wes, Koen, and Clay—a trio of monster hunters who bring a whole new layer of action and intrigue. Their rough camaraderie and the way they stumble upon Florence feels almost like fate. I appreciated how the story skillfully merges Florence’s Victorian oppression with the supernatural dangers the hunters face. The pacing is spot-on, the characters have so much depth, and it’s the perfect balance between spooky and real life.

Florence’s journey from helplessness to empowerment, combined with the hunters’ struggle against unearthly horrors, made this a fast-paced, atmospheric read that I couldn’t put down. Rowan and Aubrey, this is such a special book, thank you for the arc opportunity. 🖤

This whole book was a WHIRLWIND from beginning to end. It was so inviting and engaging and made me not wanting to put it down. Life and sleep be damned.

This is a PERFECT spooky season read, it has lots of mystery and lots of supernatural aspects.

The little notebook clippings. Absolute genius. I loved them and awaited them at the ends of some chapters.

The house was the absolute main character in this book. I adored the house POV’s I think they just tied the book together.

The last few chapters had me wanting to rip out my hair in the absolute best way ever.

Wesley’s growth throughout the story should be studied because it was phenomenal. Koen was ultimate golden retriever and was my favourite guy in the book. I adored Clayton’s mind and how it worked. And last but not least my girl Florence. I loved getting to know her story at the beginning and trying to figure her out throughout.

This book was so perfectly executed for what these beautiful authors set out to do. If you love supernatural, this will heal your broken heart. If you love a woman fighting for herself and her own humanity from inside her head, this is for you. If you love the hot nerd, sweet playboy, or grumpy and stubborn…. This is all for you.

My favorite part about this book is the house pov. You read that correctly. I have never seen that done before and in today’s reading world. Major brownie points for doing something so new and creative. You definitely get the spooky factor but also you get everything you love and adore about romance sewed so seamlessly throughout.

Koen, Clay, and Wes revitalizes a different piece of Florence throughout this book that awakens her soul instead of merely reminding her she exists.

And it is so incredibly special to watch how people affect the way your mind survives. We all lose pieces of ourself. And throughout this book you seem Koen, our sweet boy, remind her how to accept and recognize love. Clay empowers her intelligence and equips it even more. And Wes pries her fight and will to live directly out of the haunted manors cold dead grasp. All while Florence is sewing their home on reality back to their hearts.

I honestly cannot express how unique and truly extraordinary and special this book is. Please add it to your tbr and read it and then show love to some of my favorite people who wrote it.

5 stars. Easily.

This is the perfect spooky and spicy read. My heart ached for Koen - sweet boy, protect him at all costs. He’s my favorite out of all of them. It’s just something about his love that’s so pure and beautiful. Though I have to say, Wesley came really close. That grumpy man is something else once he decides to break. A beautiful, beautiful development of his character. Clay was so grounded and kind, and I think the story wouldn’t have ended the way it did if it wasn’t for him! Above all, the beautiful Florence - she’s written so beautifully, there’s no way you cannot fall in love with her.

Overall this book, the story and the writing, was beautiful and thrilling. I love it with all my heart.

Thank you so so much for letting me not only beta read but also arc read this book. I can’t wait to have it on my shelve and re-read it when I need a spooky read!

First of all, this is the first time I read a supernatural romance book and I wasn't really sure if I would like this genre but, this book definitely proved that I love this genre.

Both authors knew what they were doing when they wrote the characters cuz I loved each and every one of them. Let's talk about the storyline, it was amazing, I mean, I was on the verge of tears by the end of last chapter. I liked the book while I was reading it, but by the end, I loved it!
Now since we're supposed to give an honest review, I was kinda bored at the beginning but as I kept reading, I started loving this book and now I will definitely recommend it to others!

Ps:- Smut readers won't be disappointed by this book.

Florence Cabot has lived her life in the same manor for the last 100+ years by herself. Confined in the walls of this manor, no one is able to come in or leave, that is until a beat up Bronco shows up and three hunters come into a lot more than they could ever think.
I had the absolute honor of alpha reading as well as ARC reading this amazing book, and being able to see the growth and changes that it has gone through has been absolutely amazing. This is the absolute best book to read in the fall time, the spooky vibes and just everything about it is amazing. You need to read it, is the short version haha. Adding Rowan as coauthor somehow made the book even better, and Florence, Koen, Clay and Wes are not leaving my mind for a very long time.
Thank you so much to the authors for trusting me with your book and sending me a review copy!

Florence Cabot is trapped in a loveless, abusive marriage and the restrictions of being a woman in 1852. But an unexpected invitation from the town widow to visit her manor estate changes everything. The Manor on Orchid Lane is undeniably beautiful, but something secretive and sinister lurks, and Florence finds that trapped means something very different for the manor. Wes, Koen, and Clayton are modern day hunters traveling Northwest Europe protecting unaware civilians from monsters. After a hunt gone wrong, the men are forced to hide out in an abandoned mansion to recover and stay out of sight. But they soon the learn the manor is not empty and hiding more supernatural secrets they ever could have imagined.

This book oozed gothic paranormal vibes but with a modern, why choose twist. Florence was a stellar female lead that did what she could to rebel against the expectations of the time period she lived in until a supernatural manor kept her captive under the guise of keeping her safe. The manor is richly described, and having its perspective explained was insightful. It is manipulative in the creepiest sense, and infused the overall story with a foreboding sense of doom. Wes, Koen, and Clay all have their unique personalities and it was dynamic to see how they all interacted with one another and with Florence. Although they often had tense disagreements, their love and deep bond for another is clearly evident. The intimate scenes are exceptionally well done, and I love how it resulted in Florence feeling empowered and cherished, which she had never felt before. There is intense action and the end delivers an emotional impact you might not see coming. If you are a fan of the show Supernatural, this book will make you feel like you are back on the hunt and only reaffirm that family don’t end in blood. The perfect read for lovers of all things spooky and paranormal.

Damn do these ladies know how to write.

I loved how this story was woven together. You got to learn who Florence was. Who she was in her heart, to other people, and how she interacted with her world. You got to learn how her life and taken a path she didn’t expect but that she was strong and resilient and willing to fight. Fight for what was right and to protect those she loves and herself to the best of her ability.

Learning about the house and the life she is forced to lead while there and how the house feels about her is interesting as well n you get a glimpse behind the curtain without actually getting the full picture or many answers as well.

Then the boys rock up and man do they take this world by storm. Weasley, Clayton and Koen are the boys that were missing but didn’t know they needed to be found. Hunting and fighting are the lives that they know and love. They stick together as only found family can. Bonded together by choice and love that was grown thick and naturally. It was great to see how these boys love each other and care for each other while doing what they need to survive.

The roll into the manor looking for a place to lay low for a bit and get caught up in all the things. The love they didn’t want to find, the house that is trying to kill them all and is possessive AF.

Getting to read how they all come together and find their loves individually and as a family was so fun. Getting to see each of them fight for each other was nice as well. Some of them took longer to remove heads but once that happened it was a commitment by them all to get them all out of the manor on Orchid Lane alive and together is cemented.

I wasn’t quite sure how this one was going to end. The twists and turns were happening and I was nervous for a brief moment. I didn’t see how things were going to end but was very happy with how things ended and enjoyed every moment spent on this world! Great job ladies!!!

Perfect for lovers of Mexican Gothic and Crimson Peak and all things spooky (but make it hot)

Trapped in the Manor on Orchid Lane, Florence has spent only lord knows how many years trying anything she could to free herself

Completely hopeless and drowning in the darkness, no one is more surprised than Florence that the manor has let in three monster hunters: brothers Koen and Wes and their hunting partner Clay

Wes believes only bad things can follow trusting the woman in the manor but cant escape the feeling that she is different than the monsters he’s seen before

Meanwhile Koen and Clay take one look and can’t help but be drawn in by her beautiful green eyes and captivating laugh

They want to free her, but will the manor ever let her go?

This was INCREDIBLE and could not be more perfect for this spooky season

Filled with:

Spice 🔥🔥🔥
A badass FMC
Lots of corsets 😏

Firstly thank you Aubrey and Rowan for giving me the wonderful opportunity to read your book The Manor On Orchid Lane. This book grabbed a hold of me and I could not put this one down. Wesley grabbed me and forever will be apart of me 🥰

The Manor On Orchid Lane follows Florence, Clay, Koen and Wesley. Four wonderful people with such a fierce chemistry and undeniable connections. Florence has been through a lot in her life and definitely has some baggage. Then enters 3 amazing men. Koen who wears his heart on his sleeve, Clay who is possessive of those he loves and my fave the Wesley who has the slowest burn and is a grump but once you tear his walls down it is worth everything.

These four had me giggling, swooning, my heart breaking only to be put back together slowly piece by piece, on the edge of my seat with twists and turns, and the spice was 🥵🔥🥵🔥.

I didn’t know what to expect going into this one, but Aubrey knows exactly what I need. I loved every minute of Aubrey and Rowans new book and everyone needs this one.

Guy's seriously run, don't walk, don't stop just run and grab your copy or even add it to your TBR so you don't miss out on this wonderful adventure.

“If you aren’t quiet, they’ll hear you,” Koen chuckled with a wiggle of his eyebrow. “And then we’ll both be in trouble.”

“I knew you were human the moment I saw you. I could feel your heart, like it was calling to mine.”

“You finger-banged the monster?” Wes’s voice got higher. “Are you fucking insane?”

"Sweet, golden-hearted boy, you're too optimistic for this world."

It's 1852. Lady Florence Cabot is stuck in a loveless marriage to an abusive Lord. And all Florence wants to do is help other women, but is stuck under societal standards. When a mysterious letter arrives inviting her for tea at the Manor at Orchid Lane, she is practically pushed out the door by her husband. Little does Florence know that she won't be leaving anytime soon. It's 2024. Supernatural hunters (yes like Dean Winchester), Wes, Keon, and Clay need to lay low on their most recent quest hunting supernaturals, stumbling upon the Manor at Orchid Lane. When the manor willingly opens its doors for the friends, they meet an...unexpected being.

Y'ALL THIS BOOK??? THIS BOOK. When I tell you I dropped everything I was reading and started this arc when I got it, I kid you not. I think I have almost a dozen more arcs to get through before the month ends, and yet I still read this one despite it not coming out until the end of October.

No spoilers, but this book opened up some CORE memories that I have from my childhood. The plot had me HOOKED from the get-go. Don't let the page length intimidate you. It NEEDS to be this long to get through all the intricacies of the plot and the character and relationship development. The build-up to the big twist and reveal I think was done so so well and I honestly did not see it coming. Like I did, but I also didn't? If that makes sense. I was SCREAMING, laughing, crying, and honestly going through all of the stages of grief in the last 60 pages of the book.

The character development was impeccable and I just loved seeing all of these characters grow throughout the story, dealing with all of their own individual issues, but also issues together as a family and group.

Florence. My GURLLL. I am still not really convinced I know what she is? I mean...you'll get it when you read. But just love seeing how her personality stays consistent from the beginning through the end of the book, staying true to herself, but also learning HOW to be at least a little selfish and learn to live again and be human (iykyk).

Keon. My Pooh Bear!! ♥♥♥ You heard that right. Keon is Winnie the Pooh. Just the energy and enthusiasm, just loved him and his character so much. I loved his relationship with Florence, going to her defense from the get-go and everything he did for Florence (sorry, trying not to be spoilery lol)

Clayton. Look, I usually go for the nerd, because I can't help but love them. I saw so much of myself in Clayton. Not really believing what was going on until I had all the facts in front of me and just being so fascinated with everything. Let's be so real, his brilliance is what helped everything come together. Proud of you boo boo!

And last, but definitely not least, Wes. Wes had the biggest redemption arc in this book. You cannot help but hate him in the book, but I promise the hate is worth it for his growth as a person and character throughout the story. So proud of how far he's come.

Literally my only complaint is that I wished there was more spice lmao 🤣🤣. I also just want to hype Aubrey up a little in this review 🥺🥺. We were chatting and she said that she was nervous to release this since it's so different from her other books. But like...get you a girl that does both! I loved how this book was written and I am so happy that all the time and effort she put into it produced a final draft like this. This book is absolutely PERFECT for spooooky season!! And also, if you are newer to why choose and don't like that many "group scenes," this is definitely a good intro into that.

The Manor on Orchid Lane absolutely blew me away! This story is captivating, intriguing and had me not able to put it down. It's giving Monster House(lol) and The Winchesters - wonderful PNR! I absolutely loved the characters, their development and getting to see the story unfold from each of their points of view. The FMC really grew into herself and found her voice, and I really love that for her. So many times throughout this read my jaw was dropped, and I had whiplash same as the FMC 😅 This is an amazing read!

Do you like haunted houses? Why choose? Supernatural thrillers?

Boy have I found a book for you!

Wesley, Koen, Clayton, and Florence will have you wrapped up in the vines of the Manor On Orchid Lane. The story starts off with the boys and their supernatural hunts. One hunt ends up going haywire and that’s how they stumble upon the Manor and Florence. You get the full background on each character, learning on what makes each of them tick. You get them coming together as one found family. Not without the fights and forced proximity though. The house always provides but will this crew make it out alive? Because, the house always wins!

ENGLISCHES BUCH

Romance ala Supernatural vom feinsten! Spannung, ein Geheimnis und natürlich etwas Spice.🤭

Arc Review
The manor on orchid lane By Aubrey Taylor & Rowan Stone
Available October 13
4 ⭐

First off i would like to thank Aubrey & Rowan for the opportunity to read & review this book. Thank you for this gifted E-Arc.

This book follows Florence, Keon, Clay & Wes. Florence is stuck in this loveless marriage to her abusiveness husband in 1852. All Florence wants to do is help other women but under society standers she can't. One day she gets a mysterious letter inviting her to a tea party at the manor on orchid lane & is all but forced to go by her husband with out understanding she may not ever be able to leave again. Its now current times when supernatural hunters Keon, Clay & Wes stumbled upon the manor. They need a place to lay low after a supernatural hunt goes south.
Florence is a resilient strong woman who loved her books, Nature and just learning new things.
Wes was the grumpy & hardheaded one who fell hard for her.
Keon was the sunshine wears his heart on his sleeve & had no trouble expressing his feelings.
Clay was the hot nerd who honestly was the favorite. He used his knowledge and tech skills to keep everyone he loves safe.

5/5 recommend this book if you love supernatural. Im not the biggest fan of who choose books but this was well done & it kinda hooks you in. The emotions are well done & felt super honest to the characters. I will read anything else Aubrey & Rowan writes.

Spice 🌶️🌶️

Florence Cabot belongs to The Manor on Orchid Lane. In 1852 she entered the house and has been trapped ever since.

This book has supernatural vibes. Koen, Clay and Wesley are supernatural hunters. Hunting any story that is mysterious and killing the bad things. A ghoul hunt goes wrong and these guys stumble into the manor.

Then they want to help Florence. But the manor is always watching. And it’s a mystery that keeps evading them. Will they be able to save Florence or save themselves?

*Beta Review*

The Manor on Orchid Lane in a hauntingly beautiful story about what it means to be human.
The writing by Taylor and Stone was so descriptive, lush and transportive. I could easily envision every eerie setting.
The characters themselves are just as full of life. Our protagonist, Florence Cabot, is a strong character who I enjoyed following during her POV’s (though Clayton has my heart 😍)
The book was dangerously sexy, creepy and thrilling. Wirh twists and turns on every page, I was never sure what to expect.

WOW ya'll. This one is spooky as hell. I read it for Halloween this year and had an absolute blast. It's a RH with some spice and intrigue and mystery. I think I'd call it a... psychological horror romance? Either way, it ended up being super unique and even made me cry a couple times. 10/10 would recommend!

It’s like I was there! It was a bit slow at the start but I think it paid off because everything was so detailed and we had such a good backstory for Florence.

Florence is lured into Orchid Manor and trapped there for over a century. Enter three hunters trying to hide from some ghouls. They find Florence and the manor and try to figure out what she is and if she is dangerous.

Clayton and Koen quickly fall for Florence, while Wesley stays grumpy and hesitant towards her. They work together and against the manor to try and free Florence from its hold on her.

It is a RH but there is no DP lol. I was expecting more spice. What we got was good, but there wasn’t a lot of it and it didn’t really involve more than one guy at a time.

Spice: 3.5/5
