He and Almon are committed to each other, but is it enough? Making matters worse, Almon is not the only Kalquorian enthralled with Joseph. Born in a small town on the coast of North Carolina to strict parents, Tracy St. John started out as a quiet, shy child. She was typical for her small town: studying hard for good grades, fishing with her dad on Saturdays and attending church on Sundays.

When adolescence kicked in, so did full-on rebellion. School, family and church fell by the wayside as Tracy partied too hard with the wrong people. Somehow surviving her wild-child phase, she pursued several careers before finally settling on video production and writing.

A string of failed relationships prompted her to give up on love…which of course meant fate immediately tossed Mr. Right her way. After only 4 months of dating, she eloped with the love of her life. They just celebrated 14 years of wedded bliss.

Prior to penning her first erotic novel ‘Alien Embrace’, Tracy wrote commercials, television and radio promos, and training films for various government entities.

Tracy St. John now lives in coastal Georgia with her husband and son. She still enjoys fishing, and you’ll often find her haunting train museums with her locomotive-loving son. Besides writing, she also works in video production both in front of and behind the camera. She’s usually cast as the gun-toting bad gal, getting handcuffed in the end. She has no complaints.

If you were wondering (like I was) whether Joseph Walker and Nobek Almon would get their HEA, this book is your answer.
Joseph and Almon were introduced in book Alien Caged (Clans of Kalquor #8) by Tracy St. John.

Joseph was the reluctant captain of the renegade Earther battlecruiser which was full of captured Kalquorians. When the revolution of the prisoners started with the help of a human woman, Joseph saved many Kalquorians including fierce Nobek Almon.

I suppoce it was love at first sight for Almon. But for Joseph who had learned that homosexuality in Earth is punished by death, any relationship with Almon would have been impossible.

When Kalquorians won, the crew of the battlecruiser was captured and punished for their crimes against the Empire. Joseph had to be a resident at the psychiatric prison/hospital for two years. Only Almon cared enough for him. He visited him often, offered him money and gifts, bought a house and moved closer to him and quitted his job. Only to be close to him.

The book starts the moment these two years have passed, Joseph is a free man and has decided to move with Almon and explore more his sexual needs and desires. But there are Kalquorians who are not happy with this relationship. Many consider that Joseph is still an enemy and traitor of the Empire. And maybe someone else would like to keep Joseph for himself.

This is the book that starts a new series by the author: "Clan Companions" about male consorts and Kalquorian Clans. The series is obviously MM and complements the series
1. Clans of Kalquor - MFM series
2. Clan Beginnings - MMM series
3. Shalia's Diary - MFM series
4. Nuns of Europa - MFM series
5. First Mataras - MMI series

I was very happy about Almon and Joseph story, but the beginning was too abrupt. I wanted a bit more time between them before they jump at the sleeping mat together.
Still if you are a fan of the Kalquorian world, you will be thrilled with this book 😉

This was a good start to a new spin off. It was hot in the beginning but then tapered off to mentions of sex instead of scenes. Joseph has fantasies about giving up control/responsibility for sex but that doesn't really get used like I expected and I would have loved to see him "run" from Almon as part of that.

As always with this author and this world, the world building gets bigger and and wider and more robust with every book it seems. That's a great part of all these stories.

I have really enjoyed St. John’s ‘Clans of Kalquor’ series, and was curious about this spin-off....

After being released from a Kalquorian long-term psychiatric facility, earth battlecruiser captain Joseph Walker is fortunate to find a home with Nobek Almon. But Joseph understands the quid pro quo....Almon wants a relationship with him, and Joseph’s just not sure if he’ll be able to keep his end of the deal. As time passes, Joseph finds himself falling hard for the kind and sexy Nobek. However, a shadow from Joseph’s past threatens his new life with Almon....can Joseph escape to find a future with the man he’s come to love?

Somehow, despite the sexy times, and the action and suspense, there’s a curiously flat story here. You only get glimpses of why Joseph behaves as he does, and you don’t really get to know Almon much either. Joseph seems curiously passive to have seen action as an earth battle cruiser officer, and Almon’s character just isn’t fleshed out enough.

So...just 3 stars.

The universe where Kalquor exists has just gotten more complicated. Captain Joseph Walker spent 2 years of his life incarcerated for crimes against the Kalquorian Empire. The Kalquorian he saved from being beaten to death by his crew has waited patiently for his release. Together Joseph and Almon must navigate their relationship. Joseph must face his fears and insecurities on this new world. Almon will find that his love for an Earther man can bring about the biggest battle he’s ever faced.
I recommend this book. It ties in nicely to all the other books about Kalquor. It is a stand alone. If this your first time reading about Kalquor, be warned you’ll want to read more when you’re done with this story.

After the first Clan Companions book, I didn't think that the author could make the intimate scenes hotter, or dirtier. Since it's one on one rather than harem. Turns out, I was wrong! Go St. John!
Just found out that this is actually a companion series to ones that already have been written about the Kalquor universe. And that the Earther, Joseph, has actually been introduced in previous books.
Very enjoyable read. Good worldbuilding (for those of us not familiar with the Kalquor Universe).
Will now have to backtrack and read the rest of the stories!

I loved it! Almond is great with Joseph especially helping him settle in after leaving the ward. You could feel the scenes of them joining together. You definitely have to read a previous Kalquorian universe book to get the full scope of how clans work and things like what the venom does to Earthers and of course the big one, you never run from a Nobek! This book is amazing can’t wait to see what is next.

Love this series

As all Mrs St. John's other books I love them. I am able to get completely lost in the world of Kalquor. All its struggles, battles, loved and victories. It's a truly great SiFy Romance series. DanaLynn

Sweet romance

What a wonderful love story! Of all the books featuring the men of the clans, I found the dynamic between these 2 characters the best. Just the sweetest story. Definitely gonna be rereading this one!

Joseph's HEA

I was really wishing Joseph would get to have his own HEA and this story is even better than what I was hoping for. Joseph was so messed up I just wanted to give him a big hug. I highly recommend this book and I definitely recommend Tracy and all her other Kalquor books.

Love is love

I am so excited to get Joseph's story. I fell in love with him when we first met him and he truly deserves to be happy. Almon is a fantastic character and so good for Joseph. Great story.

It was so nice to read about Joseph and his life after the war.

I enjoyed the love story between Joseph and Almon. The suspense of the stalker and how that was handled was thrilling.
