With creative direction and world-building by the inimitable Yoko Taro, the mind behind the NieR and Drakengard universes, comes...
SINoALICE , a gorgeous and gory mobile RPG that blurs the line between dreams and reality, fairy tales and fact!
And now you can read the manga adaptation of the popular game!
The fated showdown between fairy-tale heroines produces far-reaching consequences as all of Tokyo is embroiled in a merciless slaughterfest!
Doubts creep into Alice’s mind after Cinderella fills her in on the true rules of the Deathmatch Game. Meanwhile, Red Riding Hood’s insatiable desire to "play" has transformed her into a seemingly invincible monster.
Who will be left standing when the situation spirals out of even the Game Master's control?
God... what a volume. So many big reveals and a better understanding why each of the characters are in classes like; buffer, debuffer, healer, tank, etc.
In the previous volumes it didn't really seem to matter much.
I will say, not a huge fan of the ending of this volume. There is only one more volume so I hope what happens doesn't change how I feel about the series so far.
When I played the game, I was a big Cinderella and Snow shipper.
BUT THE MANGA HAS REALLY GOT ME ON BOARD WITH KAGUYA AND CINDERELLA. THEY ARE SO CUTE.
So after establishing all the characters and rules of this world, establishing a clear divide between the teams and what everyone wants out of this death game, a game in which everyone has motivations and desires that need to be met, this volume just brings out a....zombie apocalypse? What? And then it just kills off a bunch of characters in the process?! Huh!? And everything freaking explodes!?! WHAT?!?!?!
It's pretty glaringly obvious that the team was told the manga would be coming to a close sometime around here, and so they just rushed an ending together. I don't know what the next volume will have, but it will undeniably not be worth reading. I didn't really like the volumes before this one, but I was still interested in seeing how everything would play out and how the world itself functioned. I was at least interested in seeing why Gretel was the game master.
But oh well! I guess the universe blew up and now I'm just gonna have to see how they wrap this story up in the next volume. Lmao, what a waste of time. Again, I didn't like the previous volumes, but this is easily the worst one yet.
Let's see how bad the final one can be, shall we?

Ibarahime is a darling and the sweetest little girl. She's probably at her most innocent in this adaptation. Kaguyahime and Cinderella had a touching scene, I'm surprised Cinderella cared. And Snow being Snow at last with Ningyohime. I was wondering when that side of her would show, and I was disappointed to have it happen offscreen. The short story between Snow and Akazukin at the end was a nice touch though.
That being said, this comic is still pretty bonkers and nonsensical. Even for SINoALICE. One volume left, and the story is over. I'm not sure how to feel about that. Hooray?
I think Takuto Aoki introduced plenty of intriguing ideas and set pieces for the universe. Not sure on the execution of them. If he's the author for the fanfilm that was announced, it does make me wonder how alienating the story will feel for anyone who is not already familiar with this series. Time will tell.
This was so good! I wasn’t originally planning on finishing it in one sitting, but it was so fascinating and gruesome I couldn’t take my eyes off the page.
