I always felt that Draven was meant to become a vampire even though he didn't want to be an official member of the Sons. He plays an integral part to the Sons' survival and community so I always knew it was his Destiny.
We met Brea in Rouges book. Just when you think you knew who shot Kinky, in walks Brea and brings the cartel back to the Sons in something like a full circle, yet in a way I never expected.
Unique, action packed, and a match made in Heaven.
This is a short, fast read but was worth it. Grabs your attention and keeps you hooked to the end. Love the idea of a mortal man trying to be the protector (because he is the man) to a bad-ass Vampire female. Sarcasm on the run was to funny, arguing every step of the way wile falling in Love.
When I first read about Draven in books in the series, I got the impression of a slightly interesting total background kinda guy. Throughout the series he makes various appearances but the one that really got my attention was when he meets Brea in Rouge. Suddenly Draven becomes more than just a slightly interesting bar owner. (who knew) and in this story he only grows into a extremely hot bad-ass.
Brea is tough, smart and was looking to escape her past made her realize she will not be free till she faces her crazy and evil godfather. Brea has an troubled and interesting past we learn so much about the Sons of Sangue's most wanted enemy in this story. Loved every moment the action was amazing and the relationship with Draven and Brea develops beautifully. Excited and so ready to read the next in this amazing series.
This is a great addition to the Sons of Sangue series. Often, novellas in a series are unnecessary filler. I was very happy to find that was certainly not the case with Draven. His story was touching, funny, and suspenseful, with a little surprise thrown in, and it advanced the underlying plot line that runs throughout the series.
While many romance series – whether paranormal, historical, or modern – tend to get stale after a few books, Ms. Rasey keeps her stories fresh and exciting. Her characters are well developed (I really care about them) and the dialog between characters is believable – a pet peeve of mine is adult characters acting/speaking like teenagers. The sex scenes are pretty hot, but not gratuitous or used to fill pages. Overall, a very enjoyable five star read.
I was given an advanced copy in return for an honest review.
A quick novela. Draven is the bar owner and the one who finds donor's for the Sons and their mates. If you have read the other books then you know all the trouble he has been in and trying to help bring down the cartels main boss. Never could get a meeting with him but he might get his chance now..
In the last book Brea came to Draven for help when her mate was killed. She was an unknown vampire and wants to keep it that way. Her Godfather wants her back home. The old man thinks he can take her as his wife... yuck. He has one big surprise for her.
Now to my lower rating compared to the other books. You can't go and change the rules in the middle of a series dear author. It has been stated many, many times that a female can not turn a human into a vampire. You have made it clear that it wasn't possible but now it is. No no no. It's a pet peeve of mine when either the author doesn't remember her own rules or she thinks we won't notice. Yeah don't think so.
I'm making an amendment to my review: Some of the issues I had with this book comes up in a later book but since it wasn't even addressed in this one I'm keeping the rating.
Draven Smith thought he’d sealed his own coffin when he turned informant for the DEA against the deadly Devils MC. But that trouble is nothing compared to the mortal peril he’s courting when a sexy vampire female named Brea shows up at his bar to enlist his help. In hiding from Draven’s friends, the Sons of Sangue, Brea’s freedom depends on destroying the ruthless LaPaz Cartel and its infamous kingpin—her own godfather. Thrust together on a quest they can only hope to survive, Draven and Brea must find a way through the danger while trying to resist a forbidden desire that ignites the darkest passions of their hearts. And it starts off with a bang. A bang, bang, bang to be exact, as they flee Brea’s Godfather, the enemy of SOS. Draven has placed himself in a precarious position by deciding to help Brea. He knows all the rules, but he is not vampire and he is not a Brother of the SOS. Although, he has always been a friend and helper to them, his life could end at the blink of an eye. He realized that from the beginning, still choosing to help Brea, keeping her a secret from SOS and helping her achieve her self-imposed mission. Then there’s the attraction he feels for this sexy young vamp, each feeding leaves him wanting her more and more; as he fights the feelings at taking what is not his. Brea has had her issues with Kinky, it wasn’t a smooth ride; although she had fallen for him he had made the wrong choice by mating her and let her know. Draven is brash, a bit arrogant, and very decisive. Don’t make the mistake of believing that he is a weak human, he’s not. He’s sharp, witty and strong willed. He’s a great asset to the SOS and would make an awesome bad boy vamp. Brea, starts out appearing as a weak damsel in distress, but don’t let that fool you. She’s hot and sexy alright, but there is a working brain under that façade and she puts it into action. Raul Trevino Caballero is a mean, lethally cunning, powerful man with a surprise that could destroy Brea’s plans and be the death of Draven. I am most definitely a big fan of the Sons of Sangue, filled with passion, action and the MC Brotherhood Vamp-style giving this series a unique look and feel. Draven gives us a quick, “bite” helping to satiate our appetite until the next release in this series. If you are already fan, it’s a must read. If you aren’t already a fan, this novella might help draw you into a unique world that combines the paranormal with those who enjoy MC reads. I received this ARC for an honest review but have already pre-ordered my copy. The Oracle Reviews ONLY provides honest reviews.
Awesome way to bring Draven into the fold! Draven is the owner of the bar that provides donors and just about anything else for the motorcycle club The Sons of Sanque and that's the way he likes it. Suddenly Draven finds himself the Protector of Brea, a vampire who's Mate Kinky was killed by the Mexican Cartel. Brea finds out that the head of the cartel wants Brea for himself, so she decides to go after him herself to settle this once and for all. Draven finds himself drawn into a world he wanted nothing to do with, but he'll do anything to protect Brea. Against his better judgment he finds himself falling for Brea, he's shocked at the depth of his feelings, he's never felt this way for any woman. As Draven and Brea surrender to their feelings Draven realizes that he'll do anything to protect her, even if that means becoming something he's never wanted! This was a great read, and I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a fast paced, action filled story that will leave you wanting more! Great job Ms Rasey!!
Draven was a great fast read. It kept you hooked through the whole book. You were waiting to turn the next page to see what happened next. Once again Patricia has you hook line and sinker. The books keep getting better and better. Draven was great. I really enjoyed him. I loved how he was nothing but a human proctor of Brea who is a Vampire that no one knows about. But the question is can he keep her safe while trying not to get himself killed in the process. I really enjoyed these two together. I also loved seeing some of the old SoS men in it. I can't wait to see what is in store for us next. Patricia is one hell of a writer. One awesome series. A must read. 5 thumbs up!!
Draven was a fast read, I curled up on the couch this afternoon and read it in one sitting. Draven has left his former MC club, actually he betrayed them to the law and is on the run. He is currently protecting a deceased friend's woman. Not that she needs it, as she is a vampire and 10 times stronger than him. Brea is headed for her godfather's help while avoiding his men who are out to kill any man she is with. She intends to arrive on her own conditions and find out why he killed her former lover and is trying to kill her current one. The story was intense and heart stopping at times. Will Draven come out of this alive? I enjoyed the mention of the other SoS members and look forward to more stories in this series.
As a fan of the Sons of Sangue I was so excited that Draven was getting his own story. Patricia Rasey did not disappoint when she wrote this story. I could not put it down from the moment I started. It was an easy read, steamy right from the begging. Draven has always been one of my favorites even if he wasn't a vampire. There was something just something about him. I loved the chemistry between Draven and Brea. It was funny and sexy and the continued story that has been the center of each Sons of Sangue story is there and continues.. Can not wait for the next Sons of Sangue Book.
I has given an advanced copy for my honest review.
As one of many fans of Mrs. Rasey, I loved Draven.
the story between him and Brea is intense as it has it's funny parts, but all in all I loved the book. Got this as an advance copy and all I can say is once it goes on sale...GET IT!!!
Son of Sangue Series is awesome and can't wait for more to come
D.N.F at approx 74% To tell the truth I just got bored. It was so obvious and transparent where the story was headed. The formula P.A.R uses throughout the series is the same and it all gets repetitive. I may finish this book, and the series at a later date when things aren't so challenging due to covid19 social distancing...at the moment this gets 3 stars.
"Draven" by Patricia A. Rasey. Book 4.5 in the Sons of Sangue series.
I so enjoyed this novella! You can read this as a stand alone but the ending will make a lot more sense if you read the series as a whole first. At least, you'll be familiar with all the names of the characters that show up in the end of this novella.
The main characters are Draven and Brea. Draven is a human who has been in the series since the beginning. He's in charge of all the blood donors for the Sons of Sangue MC. Brea is a vampire and was just introduced to the series in the last book "Rogue".
Brea is on a mission. She's determined to take down her godfather, the head of the La Paz Drug Cartel. He's responsible for the death of her mate Joseph (aka Kinky). Kinky told her if she ever needed help to go to Draven. Well she never expected to be running for her life with a human in tow. And she never expected to be attracted to someone so soon after loosing her mate. She can't act on her feelings because she doesn't want to dishonour Kinky. And the last thing she wants is for Draven to get hurt because of her.
Draven can't believe that Brea is a vampire. How can the Sons not know about her? When he learns the truth, that she's connected to the boss of the Cartel, he's even more astounded. And he's totally attracted to her. Can he keep is attraction under control while trying to protect her at the same time? The problem is, Brea needs to feed and there are no donors while they're on the run. He's the only one she can feed from. And if she does feed from him, there's no way he'll be able to hide his attraction to her. But maybe he doesn't want to hide....
I really liked this novella. That's just a quick overview of the romance part of the story. For a novella, quite a lot happens and a lot of information is given. If you've read the series, you really have to read this novella because the cartel story line that runs through the whole series is the main focus in this story. Revelations are revealed about the Cartel and the whole story just gets a lot more interesting and intriguing.
Now, the only problem I had with this novella is a glaring inconsistency from the full length novels. If you've never read the series, then you won't pick up on it. But if you have, like me, then you know something happens in this novella that, in all the other books, you know can't happen. It's stated, specifically by more than one character, that this certain "thing" can't happen but it does happen in this novella. I can't say what, or I'd spoil the novella for you. I'm not sure if this inconsistency was an oversight on the author's part or if it was deliberate. Maybe it will be explained in a future book? I'm not sure.
Other than that, I really enjoyed reading this novella. Can't wait to read the next book! I'm really enjoying this series.
Already enamored with the young, petite vampire that he promised to watch out for, Draven finds himself crossing the border to Mexico to confront the man responsible for the death of his friend…and the godfather of the woman he protects. Brea is a slip of a girl, with inhuman strength and abilities due to the vampire blood that runs in her veins. After the assassination of her mate, she has gone in search of her godfather, the man she believes to be responsible for his death. With the man she has desired by her side because of a promise to her deceased mate, she fears for his safety as they cross into enemy territory and closer to her godfather. The sparks fly, and a decision is made that changes everything…
Patricia A. Rasey has woven a web of suspense and intrigue with her Sons of Sangue series. Draven is a novella set within the series, but can be read as a standalone for those readers that aren't yet familiar with these vamps. As one of those readers, I was thrilled to find that I could easily keep up with the story, and follow along even though I was unfamiliar with the characters that had come before. Ms. Rasey wrote the story in such a way that gave you an idea of the background, without a lot of time and detail required. I was able to connect to the characters, and get a feel for them even without all the build up and development I am sure came in the earlier full length novels. Draven came in as a simple barkeep, with connections to the Sons as well as knowledge of nefarious dealings in a rival MC. His attraction, and promise of protection to Brea takes him deeper into the dark world than he ever intended to go. I loved that Draven wasn’t afraid to love her, he didn’t hesitate when he realized his feelings were more than lust. I admired his bravery, and his candid ability to laugh at his situation, even when things were less than humorous. Brea was a quirky, adorable, fun heroine that was all at once strong but vulnerable. She tried so hard to keep her vulnerability from showing, even when all she wanted to do was cry and be frightened. Her immediate care and concern for the safety of the human she craved was honorable, and her loyalty was unmatched. I absolutely loved the story, the plot, and the execution of this book. Though I was left with unanswered questions, I was not unhappy with the conclusion. It simply whetted my appetite for more Sons of Sangue. Looks like Ms. Rasey has another new fan…one that will be lifelong, no doubt.
I had always wanted to read The Sons of Sangue books so when i got the opportunity to read Draven i jumped at the chance to review this book voluntarily and wow i am so glad that i did! This is a seriously amazing book and i am dying to read the whole series now!!!
The storyline to this was brilliant and i loved every moment of it. It was the perfect blend of action, adventure, pain, longing, forbidden love and the fear and adrenaline of running for your life. Even though i had not read the other books in the series it was easy to pick up what was happening although i am sure it would be even better if you had read the books previous to this one (i am planning to read them all and then re-read this one). This book is a seriously obsessive read making it a major page turner and you will find yourself compulsively turning the pages. The way that Patricia A Rasey writes this book, draws you in to their world, into their story and this is all because of the way it was written. It is extremely descriptive and the detail taken in this novella is outstanding!
Draven is a brilliant character that will grow in the heart's of many, although weaker than Brea he still wants to do all he can to help and protect her he is an extremely compassionate soul and will help all those around him that he can. He also has a huge heart and when he opens it, it is all or nothing! I really Love Brea, i love that fierce female warrior that thinks she doesn't need any help, she is out in the world being who and what she is and is proud of her heritage and will do anything she can to be who she is inside
This is a definate must read for all!!! An Anazing book, loved every moment of it!!!!
OMG Draven by Patricia A Rasey was absolutely WONDERFUL! It starts out with complete excitement and ends perfectly! I am NEVER disappointed with a book by Miss Rasey. Especially in her Sons of Sangue series. Draven was not only full of action and sexy interludes but full of sizzling chemistry and red hot passion.
I found a female vampire paired with a human male to be even better than I ever could of imagined. Only Patricia Rasey could write a paranormal romance that has me on the edge of my seat! I look forward to each of these Sons of Sangue books. They are addicting and sexy and full of hot sex and bad ass vampires and Draven was even...tastier, if I dare say, than her previous stories and this one was only a novella! I am just enchanted and can hardly wait to read the next one.
Draven gets a RED HOT FIVE SHOOTING STARS! You will devour this story in one sitting and will crave the next book like yesterday. I LOVE DRAVEN!
Draven is a snitch for the DEA. He has gone against his fellow MC members, which in itself is a bad move but then he agrees to help Brea and attempt to destroy the La Paz Cartel and he is slowly realising that he may have bitten off more than he can chew! He is a friend of the SOS but not a vampire himself so there is only so many skills he can utilise.
Draven came over as a bit brash and arrogant at first and he tends to leap before he looks! He may not be a vamp but don't think that means he isn't one touch motherhumper! Brea is walking seduction as most vamps are but she does appear a bit lily-livered. She most definitely has a brain but has learned to hide most of her intelligence. Raul is the best villain I've read for a while and really enjoyed seeing his plans foiled.
Great way to combine your MC and PNR genres in one awesome book!
I thoroughly enjoyed this story from start to finish. Ms. Rasey once again gets a Gold Star for a real page turning suspense, action packed and heart-wrenching at times. The backstory is intricately woven and polished within this story, giving new readers everything they need to know about the Sons of Sangue Series, and old characters the minute details that remind them of how much we love all the characters. Draven and Brea are fierce and driven characters who really capture their audience. I always know that I'll get a phenomenal story from this author and yet with each new release, I'm gleefully surprised that each is always better than the last. Excitement, action, vampires, bikers, steamy love scenes, amazing characters, revenge and a cartel ... Draven has everything a reader needs!!
He was on the run. Running from the Cartel and the Sons of Sangue, each for a different reason. And he wasn't alone. He had decided to run when he learned that part of the Cartel's drug ring had been destroyed with his help. But he had to run because he had been entrusted with the life of one of his friend's mate. A mate none of the Sons of Sangue knew about. She ran because her mate had been killed. Killed by a Godfather that wanted her for his own. Her life would never be her own until her Godfather was dead. Neither knew that what they ran from was less scary than what they ran to. In the end they only found one thing together, a love for each other. The rest would be worked out later with the help of family (The Sons of Sangue).
His friend entrusted his vampire wife to him in case he died and now here she is and someone is after her. Her godfather killed her man and wants her for his own but she has other plans, namely her dead mates friend the sexy barkeep. Things are a mess but together they fight to be safe and together and stop the man who is after her and if they survive then they go home to face the club members.
I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book. This is book 5 of the Sons of Sangue series by the author.
Ms. Rasey does it again with this action packed, sexy story in the Sons of Sangue vampire series. Draven is walking a thin line when he agrees to help Brea, a beautiful vampire female. Brea is mired in the criminal world of a drug cartel and enemy of the Sons. There is plenty of action along with hot sexy time (my fav). I found this story especially intriguing because Draven, the hero, is human and Brea vampire. Another shot out of the park in this amazing MC vampire series. I wonder what Ms. Rasey has in store for us and them next!
Patricia Rasey does it again! The SOS series is one of my favorites and writing a book about the barkeep Draven is pure genius. I was not a huge fan of the barkeep but in his book I quickly began to love him. His cockiness is one that I can handle and his strength, determination and love for Brea is out of this world. The story captivated me right away with all the action and the story line had me laughing and cringing for their lives the entire way through. Congratulations on another winner Ms. Rasey!
Neither can deny their attraction, but will that attraction get them killed?
I was so excited to get Draven's book after seeing him previously in the other Sons of Sangue books and it definitely didn't disappoint. I loved how while Draven was a self proclaimed player, he was completely different with Brea. I didn't blame Brea for her confusing feelings after everything she had been through and was facing. I loved how both of these characters were determined to do anything to protect the other! Great read and cannot wait to start the next on in this series!

Draven, simple bartender until Brea walks into his life, Now he is running from the cartel with her trying to help her get to her godfather to seek revenge on the death of Kinky her mate, but along the way things get complicated and Draven comes up with a plan and turns himself to help her. Lucky for him she loves him and if they get through this alive they can hope for a happy ever after together
I was looking forward to Draven's story and I wasn't disappointed. Draven is a character that you can kinda hate from the other books but when the focus shifts to him there is no hate possible. We get to see an unexpected side to Draven, he actually has a heart! I had so much fun revisiting this series. Even though the Sons played a minor role in the book it fit nicely into the rest of the series. Can't wait for more!
Although Draven is not one of the Sons, he does work with them to find those willing to allow a vampire to feed from their artery. That is of course until a female waltzes in to his life and changes him forever. Lots of intrigue and mystery and, of course, a love to die for. Draven and his woman are on the run and the person chasing them isn't one to give up. It's a good story with a lot of twists and turns that keep the reader moving. Highly recommended.
My 1st Sons of Sangue story and it's Great!!! I love the characters and the world. Draven and Brea are well written and the story is full of suspense and one heck of a surprise at the end of the journey. Join Draven and Brea as they try to fight Brea's godfather's intentions to make her his. Oh and he's the head of the drug cartel to boot. A great story I highly recommend!!!
Every good vampire deserves a happy life. Though Draven once a bar owner also supplying blood donors becomes a vampire for love and protection. This is only touching the surface of the story. Follow through the series of 'Sons of Sangue'. If you enjoy vampire/Paranormal's, you will enjoy Patricia's work. If possible, do read in order the story flows better.
Sons of Sangue has been a great series now adding Draven in was quite a surprise. This is a action packed book with a little sex on the side. I'm excited to see what happens next.
