Surprisingly, this volume was just as fantastic as the first. I was afraid that the quality would plummet after the first volume, as seems to happen with many graphic novel series. Happily, I was wrong! The plot thickens in Year Two of Injustice, and the fight balloons past a global platform and onto a galactic one. The Green Lantern Corps inserts themselves into the mix, and they’re not all on the same side. More heroes fall prey to their confused moral codes, either giving their lives for their cause or giving into the darkness.

The dark turn that DC Comics has taken is recent years is fascinating and sad at the same time. There’s a part of me that thinks that superheroes should be above corruption, and I hate to see them brought down. However, I think it’s important to remember that everyone is fallible. But seeing them fall from the pedestals their cities have placed them on is tough to witness, even if they are all fictional.

Watching Superman’s fall from grace has been painful and morbidly enthralling. I’ll be interested to see exactly how far he falls, and if he reverses his stance and sees the light again. Who will still be standing at the end? I’m dying to know, but I’m scared to find out. No one is safe, and there are some people I hate to see die. However, even in the midst of heartbreak, light finds a way to shine, as shown in the epilogue of this omnibus.

I would like to give a shoutout to Harley Quinn and her role in this series. She provides just the right touch of comic relief when that relief is desperately needed. But she’s not just here for laughs. She bares her soul at one point, and the way she tries to laugh through the pain makes the moment all the more poignant. She’s a supportive, if often unwanted, friend, and she can step out of her villain shoes and into a hero cape if she feels like it. I just love her, and I love her role in this series.

If the last three years of Injustice are as great as the first two, this series could prove itself worthy of my favorites shelf. Not just for graphic novels, but for any book series. So far, I can’t recommend it highly enough, and my fingers are crossed that the quality will be maintained for the duration.

*10 or so pages into the story*

Sinestro, I fucking hate you!!! !!!

Okay, I always know Sinestro is a bad guy, but so far he hadn't done something as outrageous as this! I actually kinda like him. XD

More to come.

A year ago, if you told me that a comic book series based on a fighting video game would be one of my favorite superhero books published, I would call bullshit. But here I am, saying just that. I loved the first book and now, Year Two is just as awesome. Seriously this is great stuff.

Superman's policing of the world is getting larger and more totalitarian as he is attempting to control governments and impose martial law in his attempt to rid the world of all crime. Batman is out of commission for now, but his small group of rebels are putting together a plan that will finally stop the super-powered alien. But now, Superman's actions, and his team-up with the terrorist Sinestro and his Yellow Lanterns, have gained intergalactic notice from the Guardians of the Universe and their Green Lantern Corps, sparking a rift between them and their greatest member, Hal Jordan (who's decided to side with the Man of Steel).

The most surprising and impressive thing about these books is how uncrowded they feel for having so many characters to keep track of. I suspect it's because of the fact that these books take place outside of regular DC Comics continuity, so they don't have years and years of convoluted backstory to keep up with. Taylor also has a great grasp of the characters and efficiently makes you identify and care for them. And the fact this series stands independent of DC history means that everyone is expendable and no one is safe, so anyone can die at any moment throughout this series and that really gives the story the sense of suspense that it deserves. The idea of this broken and frustrated version of Superman identifying with Sinestro (who believes in enforcing justice through fear) and Sinestro exploiting that relationship is a really ingenious idea and is a perfect evolution of the story. Sinestro was my favorite character in this installment and I loved the interaction between him and Superman.

This really is a fun, exciting, and compelling story with so many memorable moments with some of the best-written versions of our favorite DC characters: like Commissioner Gordon, Lex Luthor, Oracle, and whoa: that Black Canary and Harley Quinn fight scene where Canary has to stop the fight because of a wave of morning sickness is equally hilarious, a bit heartbreaking, and one of the best scenes in the series so far.

Trust me, this is one of the best superhero comics that you can read now.

At parr with Year One! I enjoyed this a bit more though because I am a huge Green Lantern fan and this has a lot of GL incorporated into it. Can't wait to read Year Three next!

Actual review: 4.5

This was the most depressing thing I've ever read. Seeing heroes lose themselves gradually in a way that they hit that moment of no return and seeing them do the wrong things for the noble reasons was awful to read.

No one wants to see this. This is how hope dies.

Having said that, brilliantly written. I loved the concept of a female team fighting for good and I was sad to see the end of many beloved characters.

And Superman... I have never been more disappointed in Superman.

(Damian can be shoved into space as far as I'm concerned).

Wow, I inhaled this in one sitting. Things have deteriorated so quickly (and fully) I don't even know where to begin!

Let's start with how much I love Black Canary.
Black Canary is so kickass in this volume! Pregnant and fighting Superman. Boss.
description

I still can't believe that Hal stood with Superman after Year One. How could he turn his back on Ollie and Canary like that?...

I'm not a huge Green Lantern fan, but I did really enjoy this story and the involvement of the Green Lantern Corps. I FRIGGIN CAN'T BELIEVE SUPERMAN IS LISTENING TO SINESTRO. Uh, hello! He's a bad guy!! So many poor Green Lanterns dead...murdered
The body count here keeps rising. I have no idea how this story is going to continue on for three more "years"!

I loved the GCPD's involvement here. There were a few good "rah-rah" moments where the little guy was trying to reclaim Gotham etc., like Bullock taking on "robocop", or when Gordon rallied the troops to assist on the ground during the fight, but mostly, this is about my love for Commissioner Gordon.
description
Gordon played a key roll in this Year Two story, starting with his coming face to face with Barbra/Oracle, and ending with...well... it's a

What I still don't understand is what Luther's game is here. Who's side is he on (besides his own side, of course)?
Luthor and Gordon have a great exchange, as does Catwoman and Damian.

description

Though, maybe the best exchange of all was between Gordon and Batman.
Gordon: "It's good to hear your voice, Batman."
Batman: "It's Bruce."
Gordon: "No, it isn't. It was never 'Bruce.'"
Batman: "No. It's been an honor to serve Gotham with you"
I absolutely teared up .

(As an aside, I thought the image of Batman and Barbra sitting side by side (as equals), both wheelchair-bound, was really interesting.)

Since I started this review with how much I loved Black Canary, I think it would be a good way to end this review as well.
description
She totally whoops his ass, but at the last second -when you just think, everything might actually be OK... nope. Nope. Nothing is OK. I was left reeling.

Thankfully, we have the Epilogue. I couldn't have been more in absolute shock when Dr. Fate shows up just says "**** fate."
BALLER.
The Epilogue was just. Was just, perfect.
It definitely healed some of the wounds inflicted by this book.

Wish I was reading the physical copies of these graphic novels so that I can tear and throw them, stamp on them to release my anger, but I don't want to break my tablet until I read this series, so let's wait for the end.

Can't believe what is happening in this series!!
All the violence, the deaths,... Can't believe DC would come up with something like this.. But I'm glad they did..
I read this in almost in 1 sitting.. and I'm sure the next issues will be the same, as it was for year 1 ànd 2 already so :)

So, 'nough talk, I'm diving into the next year ;)

Ok I’m so hooked. Haven’t been this hooked in a while. The story just gets wilder and wilder. I can’t even take the time to write this review. On to Year Three!

Masterpiece! Who would've thought a superhero comic book with space battles and magic could be such a good portrayal of what makes us human and how the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Although in their own respect these characters can be seen as gods they are just as human as we are.

This made me cry. Multiple times.

Taylor knows how to handle this whole bunch of characters and give them their time to shine, although the conflict in this volume is more on the external side. And, damn, the stakes are high.
The story mainly centers around the Green Lantern Corps, Sinestro's corps and the Guardians. I'm not a big fan of DC's intergalactic stuff, but here it was brought to use perfectly.

The most interesting thing, though, is how Superman is handled. In Year One, Clark was in most of the scenes. We were close to him, saw his processes of thought etc. In this installment he is presented from the outside, like some god-like entity. Also, Diana, the driving force behind all questionable decisions in Year One, is bascially out of order, but Superman stays on his course, makes it even worse on his own.

I'm really thrilled to see how the story will be continued. Many plot-threads are closed, but I have the feeling that the main conflict is yet to come.

This was another great story. Here, we're mostly focused on the Green Lanterns, Gotham City, and Sinestro/the Yellow Lanterns. We see some heroes fall and make bad choices, while we've also got villains doing the right thing. It's a very interesting exploration of this idea! It's definitely brutal with lots of death (which makes sense given the videogame).

The ladies feature more here, especially Black Canary (but also Harley, Zatanna, Oracle, Batwoman, and Huntress). There was a really hilarious scene with Dinah and Harley that I loved! We learn more about the Green Lanterns and the Guardians. I didn't know that much about this group of characters, so that was nice to learn more. Superman continues to just lose it - it's so interesting to see him drastically change.

The storyline in Gotham was rather interesting. The people of Gotham won't stand idly by when these super strong soldiers are sent in to take control of the city. I enjoyed seeing this resistance!

I think the artwork continues to be great. It's quick to read and full of action. I definitely want to see what happens next!

The majority of this had to do with characters and conceits from Green Lantern's story. These felt both cheesy and boring to me. It is a far cry from the successful blending of worlds accomplished in Injustice: Gods Among Us: Year One. The main exception is this exchange between Ganthet (who seems like the Yoda of Green Lantern's story) and Superman from this collection's third issue:
Superman: "What I'm doing is protecting the people."
Ganthet: "No, Superman. What You're doing is seeking to control them."

What it's about: Superman continues his quest to end the problems of the world by taking it over. He and his network of superheros have deployed super-power pills to fuel a world-wide super-soldier surveillance group. Batman's forces are marshaling their strength and seeking a way to strike back. The Guardians of Oa have finally decided it's time to become involved. Can the Earth survive being in the middle of an intergalactic war?

Why I rated it like I did: They are just leaning hard into ridiculous bits that don't fit the characters AT ALL. But it's like a train wreck - I can't look away, even as it gets worse.

This book had me feeling all the feels! I laughed, I cried, and I was angry. Give Tom Taylor all the comics to write! This series is so good and I’m so mad I waited so long to read it. Especially when I love the video games also! This series has even gotten me to be a Harley Quinn fan, which I’m shocked by. Alllll the stars and recommend it to every comic fan!

Superman has introduced a new super-human army to police the world (the Nazi-like symbolism is very noticable). Batman is in a hidden location healing from his back injury. The Guardians have taken notice of events on Earth and have recalled Green Lanterns from all over to go investigate. Sinestro is whispering in Superman's ear and the Sinestro Corps is policing the sector for Green Lanterns (fatally). Very bad things are happening, but Batman's resistance is still fighting. They will not give up. Humanity will not bow.

After the ending of this installment, I cannot wait for the next one. No spoilers, but OH MY GOD!

Highly recommended series.

This one keep surprising me. The story is basic, like a regular unnecessary summer cross-over event that went wrong. Yet it is so well written, and feels so fun, and the characterization for most charactes is on point.
I feel bad that most of my favorit DC charcters lose their lives, but all of the deaths make sense in the context.

One should take into account that even though I've enjoyed it, this book gives the feeling it was meant for younger audience (if you disregard the violance). But if you still enjoy mainstream supreheroes stories, when your 20's are behind you, you'll probably like this one.

Always destined.
Not the most action packed or exciting comic I’ve ever read but my god is it top quality.
It’s a slow burner but the payoff is well worth the build-up. I still can’t get over how well everything ties into the game yet is still surprising enough to keep even the most hardcore fans guessing.
The issues were short and snappy making for an easy reading experience and I’ve came out of this one loving characters I never thought I would - Jim Gordon’s arc was nothing short of heartbreaking and had me on the verge of tears and don’t get me started on Guy Gardner. It truly feels like love at first sight with his character. I cannot wait to read more from him.
There’s nothing more to be say about this series that hasn’t been said already. It’s one of the most consistently written series I’ve read and long may it continue.

3.5/5

Without getting into spoilers, this is exactly what you want from this kind of book. The main premise still kinda sucks ass and the characterizations are god awful, but that also means that Taylor gets the chance to explore concepts that would otherwise never happen in comics. He really has a knack for the huge, what if stories like this and dceased, and I would be lying if I said I don't love reading them.

Injustice: Gods Among Us Year Two is a visually stunning comic book, with detailed and dynamic artwork on every page. The character designs are especially noteworthy, with a wide range of iconic DC heroes and villains brought to life in striking detail. However, the story in Year Two has become somewhat unbelievable, even for a comic book. It feels like the plot is straining credibility and losing some of the grounded, realistic feel of the first volume. Despite its beautiful art, Injustice: Gods Among Us Year Two falls short in the storytelling department. 3/5 stars.

Woah this was amazing!! I love how the lore with all the characters has just been thrown out the door. No rules no guidelines just pure action and fun. Great storytelling and pretty cool art. Superman as the villain with a few others is so simple in concept but this pulls it off perfectly.

Perry brought these on his visit (five volumes) and I'm trying to read them all before he goes home. This second volume was almost as good as volume one. It features the Green Lantern Corps trying to take out Superman... and they fail.
