This first collection of Jeppson's Pshrinks Anonymous stories features the reports of Manhattan psychiatrists, shared at a monthly professional meeting, about their patients' encounters with aliens, sentient computers, and time warps
Also known as: Janet Jeppson Asimov, Janet O. Jeppson, Janet Asimov, who originally wrote as J.O. Jeppson, is an accomplished novelist and short-story writer who sometimes worked in collaboration with her husband, the late Isaac Asimov. Among the Asimovs' joint ventures as writers is the series of juvenile novels involving an endearing robot, Norby, and his young owner, Jeff Wells.
A fun little book of short stories. The unifying theme is a group of psychiatrists who meet for lunch regularly in a Manhattan hotel. Each story is a particular patient/case related by one of the group. After a few of the stories you get the hang of the group and the group dynamics. All of the cases involve some kind of science fiction twist, although it is never clear what is real and what is imagined. I was not impressed after the first couple, but grew to enjoy them. Dr. Jeppson (noted by her married name of Janet Asimov on my copy) is a psychiatrist, as well as a science fiction writer. The ideas presented in these stories were fun to contemplate and play with.
