Yeah, but 'we' in general do not care what you read as long as you read. We have to pick up the slack for the rest of the non-reading M'sians.

Apa maksud En Khairul dengan "we have to pick up the slack for the rest of...."?

To fill up for the laziness of the non reading Malaysians...ain't that rite bro. khairul.
Every person reads for different reasons. A student mugs his books like mad for the exams; A bookish person like khairul reads for the pleasure of reading; I for instance do my readings as a mean of language acquisition.
So...READ that was the injunction by Allah through Gibril To The Prophet, as the first Revelation in Iqrak...No matter what you read but Read, it could be on papyrus, on the fronds of date palms on sheep skins. Does Allah instruct you to be choosy in what you read...guess not, Read so that you be enlightened. As you all often say don't be a book snob...Cheers.

Maksud saya memandangkan majoriti rakyat tak membaca, jadi kita ni 'terpaksa' menambahkan jumlah buku yg kita baca semata-mata mahu meningkatkan purata buku yg dibaca rakyat M'sia.

I'm also aiming to behave myself and not go berserk on mention of book sale or book Xcess on that matter :p

Was it Dickens’s Great expectations with Phillip Phirrip or Pip
My earliest memory was to figure out the words while in Std 6
All was Greek to me but that was the way my teacher did it.
When I grew older literature was in my blood
But can tolerate fantasies , romanticisms, and of course the slut
It's the pristine classics mostly written by those who have already died
Or the memoirs, biography, war, historical heavy on facts.
When I thence stumble upon this forum by chance
Boy; am I horrified but concurrently a tad delighted at the stance
That, those of you who’re racing to complete 50 books in a glance
Whence I hardly could purchase two in a month
You fortunate dudes should thank your lucky stars
How the Provider showers His Rahmat on you in profusion
As to this writer it would be just a fantasy of sorts
To fancy a collection of Enid Blyton is a forgone conclusion
A Proletariat struggling to make ends meet, hence writing whimsical stanzas

Fariza,
Tak apa. Ambil masa.

Fariza, it's okay sebab akak pun belum habis baca buku Haryati *lari*

Aini,
Saya pun belum baca buku Aini. Kita serupa. La.la..la..

Shavian, use the libraries (but I bet you did) :)

Walaubagaimana pun dimana ada kemahuan disitulah ada jalan, I frequently read through khairul h, book review for any good synopsis to purchase. many thanks to khairul from his book review i came to this forum.

kongsi la kat sini kak najibah 7 buku bertuah tu hehe.

Both are about military campaigns involving the US.
In the first title the author had a first hand definitive account of the conflict when by 1965 the US was fully involved in the Vietnam war and a decade and a half removed from a military stalemate in the Korean conflict, the US failed to learn from the mistakes of the French that fighting a guerrilla war emphasising armour and mechanised firepower would become a deadly liability.
The street without joy has the distinction of being received favourably both by the soldiers in Vietnam as well as the civilian population protesting the war. The author who would not rest on his laurels went back to Vietnam in 1967, and while accompanying a marine patrol was killed by a Viet-Cong land mine.
In the second title At Dawn We Slept, we are presented with the observation that “ A Japanese attack on Hawaii is regarded as the most unlikely thing in the world with a one chance in a million to being successful”. The book takes us into the chronology of the actual planning of Pearl Harbour and the activities of the master spy T. Yoshikawa 1941. After 37 years researching his subject the author surprisingly met an untimely death.
What a coincidence both authors while examining the history of the US military campaigns where the US were on the losing side met their tragic ends.
Would there be anyone bold enough to write the story on the US led war with the Taliban vis-à-vis from the side of the Al-Qaeda/Taliban perspective. Such a publication is eagerly inticipated...

I wish to have me own list of books to be read in 2012, It will just be a modest list of about 30 - 40, at the rate of 2/3 books a month, it's a luxury I can't splurge on much, though...Thanx and Cheers.

Ntah, Norain MT yg selalu rajin buat. Tapi tahun lepas target kami 2011. Jadi tahun ni, 2012 le kut. Tapi tak halang sesiapa yg nak sediakan target yg baru. Jangan mengarut dah le (contoh: 1 juta buku)

Chalk and cheese. Nanowrimo is a writing exercise. This is reading. 1 million can be done but it's still ridiculous.

thought about doing monthly challenge like the other groups.. ikut theme.. sometimes its good for someone like me yang asyik baca sama genre je.. haha

Saya pun nak tahu buku-bukunya. Buku terpilih pastinya berstatus istimewa :-)

Ok juga.. saya setuju..

Cuma semua kena rajin update number of pages la pula

Nak kira muka surat pulak ye?
