After the two coin flips I had to read book with a cover I like and one that I disliked.
I love this cover to The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. The cover caught my eye because it is so unique and I love the use of color. I liked it even more after reading the story because it fits this story so well and that is really rare. It is an interesting story that I really enjoyed and it far exceeded my expectations. 528pgs
On the flip side I dislike this cover. A cow in a tiara just isn't funny even after reading and understanding the inside joke that likely was the reason this cover was picked. I really enjoyed this story but found the cover to be a put off. If I had not read the positive reviews for this book I likely never would have given it a second look on the shelf. 275 pgs

I agree about the cow cover...it is kinda lame
... with the title in mind though I can see some humor

I had one head and one tail. A cover I live
A Year of Pleasures love the cover, love the title, loved the book. It brought the tears and laughter as a newly widowed woman builds a life in a small town (206)The Cat Who Dropped the Bombshell
(288) The cat on the cover is ok, but the rest is boring. Interesting concept, a cat with ESP who solves crimes.

Since you already used
The Year of Pleasures (Level One #2) .... you need to read a different book with a cover you love.

summer on the mountain I love the cover and long for summer! in this case however, Summer is a painter. This is a romance between a painter who has lost her muse and a park ranger who helps her find it. Sorry about that.. I knew I save one for this challenge and one for level two. I liked The Year of Pleasure best, obviously it has stayed on my mind!
Now Is the Time I just love the cover of this book writen by Patrick Lindsay. The kid playing the puddles while holding his umbrella symbolizes the need to make the best of any situation. It's raining? Hey, what a great time to jump in puddles! I also like the pretty scroll work that frames the book title. The book cover is also textured which gives it extra dimension. Obviously I like this book cover and it corresponds to the "heads" I flipped. I think I liked the cover better than the book just because it was a a lot of inspiration to digest in two sittings. It probably would have been better to read a few a day. 170 pages.
Valley Voices Passages An Anthology of Central Colorado Writers. I didn't think this one through as it is a the publication of a collection of works of local writers in and near the town of Buena Vista and Salida and consequently does not have a cover I could find in the search tab above. My mother has 3 pieces in the book which was my motivation for reading the entire book (I had read hers previously). The other writers were her friends so it was an interesting insight into her world. The cover unfortunately is not available thru the search above but I selected it after flipping "tails". While the cover is a vibrant and beautiful turquoise (one of my favorite colors), the graphic design is out of balance. The main title is stark white and the remaining text is black and just fades into the page. The center of the cover is a black pen drawing of the mountains with books stacked on a rock with trail markers on top. The artwork is ineffective in my opinion. I know, I know, I shouldn't be so critical but it just doesn't do anything for me. But of course my mother's stories and poem were AWESOME! 88 pages

Whenever I am at the bookstore, I'm attracted to the books that have the really attractive covers and end up buying them. Sometimes they live up to the beauty of the cover and other times they don't.
For this task, you will try to not judge a book by its cover, or will you? This is a 2 book task - flip 2 coins by hitting flip again 1 time.
If you get 2 heads, read 2 books with covers that you love.
If you get 2 tails, read 2 books with covers that you dislike or that you wouldn't normally pick up.
If you get 1 heads and 1 tails, read 1 book with a cover you love and 1 book with a cover you don't like.
Required: Include the results of your coin toss and provide a link to the title or cover (preferred) when you post. Tell us what you liked/didn't like about the cover when you selected the book and answer the question - was the book better than the cover? Or was the cover better than the book?
