Michelle I voted for The Wind Through The Keyhole in May. However, I have not read the Tower Series. yet. Is it imperative to read the others to understand and follow this one?

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

If I remember correctly(from an interview I read prior the release of 22.11.63) the new book will be a stand-alone from the others book in the series.

message 3: by Michael (new)

Michael I have a feeling it may be necessary to have read the first four installments. I believe it's set after Wizard and Glass and there will probably be SPOILERS for all four books in it.

message 4: by Michelle (new)

Michelle ahhh... okay, ty for the replies :)

message 5: by Michelle (new)

Michelle I'm currently at the beginning of Duma Key, with another of his books I borrowed from the library to read next. Will keep me busy for a while, as I am having shoulder surgery next week for a torn rotator cuff and won't be able to do much else.

message 6: by Esther (new)

Esther I'm on the final book of the Dark Tower, so the Wind Through the Keyhole is definitely on my list to read soon. :)

message 7: by Timothy (new)

Timothy I voted for the wind through the keyhole. Though currently I am rereading the talisman so it will be a while till I get to it.

message 8: by Molly (new)

Molly Kooiman Barber I think so, though you are lucky that since this book is out you could read them in the actual chronological order that they took place:) And it gives you a good excuse to get into a series that I consider some of King's finest work (at least in the earlier books of the series).

message 9: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Have read the Tower Series and was dissappointed with the ending. Excited to see what is in store for Roland on his next journey.

message 10: by Zach (new)

Zach Ireland I loved the ending of the Dark Tower. Classic King.

message 11: by Alondra (new)

Alondra Miller voted for Wind through the keyhole, even though i originally wanted roadwork... :O

besides, i pre-ordered it!!

message 12: by Maureen (new)

Maureen I voted for Everythings Eventual because I have that one and haven't read it. Loved the Dark Tower series, but I don't think I can get a copy of The Wind Through the Keyhole before May.

message 13: by Jamie (new)

Jamie I also vote for The Wind Through the Keyhole!

message 14: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer The wind through the keyhole, as it's the only one I haven't read! lol

message 15: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Maureen wrote: "I voted for Everythings Eventual because I have that one and haven't read it. Loved the Dark Tower series, but I don't think I can get a copy of The Wind Through the Keyhole before May."

Maureen,
I Just got done reading "Everything's Eventual" so, I don't think I'd enjoy reading it again, in May, but, I can certainly relate to having to run out and buy yet another book!

message 16: by Evil (new)

Evil I have not read the the Dark tower series either so I voted for everythings eventual

message 17: by Jenny (new)

Jenny Michelle wrote: "I voted for The Wind Through The Keyhole in May. However, I have not read the Tower Series. yet. Is it imperative to read the others to understand and follow this one?"

Michelle! OMG The Dark Tower series is King's best work! Get the books ASAP. I held off reading the series for a long while thinking, fantasy, nah, but honestly The Dark Tower is not your garden variety fantasy: it is, in fact, every genre rolled into one. There is nothing like it out there. This is a series of books you can read many times and it always feels like the first time.

message 18: by Ka-mai (new)

Ka-mai Voted for Everything's Eventual. The story of the title and The Little Sisters are there, so is a most for any Dark Tower fan.

message 19: by Lizzie (new)

Lizzie Im just over half way through Song of Susannah, and will be getting the last one out the library next week. Just got a notification that my pre-ordered Wind through the Keyhole is being airmailed to me today so will have it in my grubby little hands in next couple of weeks. hehehehehe

message 20: by Cindy (new)

Cindy I'd love to reread the green mile, or everythings eventual. I haven't read the DT series, so yeah

message 21: by Regina the Constant Reader (last edited Apr 24, 2012 10:01AM) (new)

Regina the Constant Reader I have all of them, but I picked Everything's Eventual. I haven't read all the Tower books yet, so I wouldn't want to read Wind through the Keyhole until I finish the others.

message 22: by L. (new)

L. Lawson I've already read Wind Through the Keyhole, so I'll finally be able to participate in a discussion! (I voted for Everything's Eventual, however.)

Michelle Stockard Miller Regina wrote: "I have all of them, but I picked Everything's Eventual. I haven't read all the Tower books yet, so I wouldn't want to read Wind through the Keyhole until I finish the others."

Exactly my sentiments!

message 24: by James (new)

James Hmm I'm still on Wizard and Glass at the moment but I suppose if it's set after the events of Wizard and Glass then it won't have anything too spoliery about the rest of the series

message 25: by Chris (new)

Chris I voted for Wind through the Keyhole. however i'll be done with it before may!

message 26: by Barry (new)

Barry I've just (FINALLY) started the Dark Tower books, myself; I've read the first three before, but this was about 15 years ago, and I didn't really READ them, just more...looked for the "cool" parts. Now I'm reading them and appreciating them for just what the heck they really ARE. This includes, however, reading all of the NON-DT books that have everything to do with the overarching plot; that said, MY next will be 'The Eyes of the Dragon.'

message 27: by Cindy (new)

Cindy I changed my vote to Everythings Eventual since its in second, but i guess i better start reading the dark tower series in preparation for the book that looks to be a winner haha! haha

message 28: by Fabiana (new)

Fabiana Gomes My vote was for EVERYTHING IS EVENTUAL, of course.

message 29: by Adam (new)

Adam Smith Just got Wind through the keyhole. Still deciding if I'll start it next or 1 book down the track. Might as well do it for May.

message 30: by Robert (new)

Robert Michael I'm in the mood for some short stories. Honestly, The Wind Through the Keyhole is the only book I haven't read yet other than Roadwork. Not sure I want to read either yet, though.

message 31: by Dustin (new)

Dustin So it's looking like TWTTK will be our May group read..

message 32: by Jill (new)

Jill I read the Bachman Books for the first time in years recently - I'd forgotten how fantastic they were! The Running Man had me on the edge of my seat again even though I know damn well what happens.

I voted for Wind Through The Keyhole just because it's the only option I haven't read before.

message 33: by Jill (new)

Jill Robert wrote: "I'm in the mood for some short stories. Honestly, The Wind Through the Keyhole is the only book I haven't read yet other than Roadwork. Not sure I want to read either yet, though."

Can heartily recommend Roadwork! Can't believe how young he was when he wrote it.

message 34: by Becky (new)

Becky I'm about 75% through The Wind Through The Keyhole now, and I haven't seen anything spoilery at all for the rest of the series, so it should be fine to read after Wizard and Glass.
