Tall, dark, and formidable, Niol Lapen is the last demon on earth most people would ask for a favor, yet the sexy little reporter who wanders into his club dares to do exactly that. Holly Storm already knows too much about his kind, and Niol has no wish to help her get in deeper over her head. But working alongside her may be the only way to stop a killer, even as it ignites a primal desire unlike anything he’s known.
Holly has seen firsthand what Niol is capable of, but that doesn’t frighten her nearly as much as her body’s instinctive reaction to him, or the wild, fierce passion that would tempt her to follow him through hell itself. Something evil and relentless is prowling the streets of Atlanta. And as Holly’s search leads her into danger that even Niol could never have predicted, she’ll uncover a secret that could rip her world apart…

Ah hell.... the only reason I didn't give up on this trilogy is Niol. Niol how I wanted you to save this idiocy. Sigh.... Not even my love for you could make me like this even slightly more. I even pushed myself to finish your story. I am so sorry my evil possessive demon.... *crying silently*
So disappointed in this book. It has everything I hated! I was so looking forward to Niols book. TSTL heroine Most annoying occupation for a heroine. A reporter. Hate it when heroines are reporters. Man whore hero Zero chemistry Dumb plot Such a bust.
“Before this is done, I will have you, love” ¨-Niol (Well, sign me up, I’d love a piece of his demon ass! :-P)
There is a different side to Atlanta, a world where demons, vampire and shifters mask their true natures and live quietly and unobtrusively alongside their human neighbors. Well, for the most part. When you are a level 10 demon like Niol, very few beings are a threat to you. Not vampires, not witches, not murderers and certainly not detectives… But possibly a nosy little News Flash Five reporter…
Holly has witnessed how deadly the Others can be first hand. These supernaturals may be stronger than her but that isn't going to stop her from finding the truth and reporting it. When one of her demon contacts is murdered, Holly is determined to find justice.
But with a killer on the loose, she’ll need backup, and who better to help her than the Master of the City, a level 10 demon with powers she can't begin to imagine. Niol is temptation itself, and he’s already got her sight set on her. But then again, so does someone else… When the murderer targets Holly, she only deepens her investigation and both Niol and Holly learn some hard – and surprising - truths about themselves.
Throughout this series, Niol has been portrayed as a scary, untouchable and unfeeling SOB who kills without remorse, punishes those he sees as guilty and taunts the police fore mercilessly. He has gotten away with murder because no-one can link him to the deaths. He is, undoubtedly, the series bad boy, and here you get him in all his glory.
“Whatever you do, don’t make me love you.” His eyes bored into hers. “I don’t love well, but I kill perfectly.” Not the heartfelt confession every girl dreamed of hearing.
But is he really all bad? Turns out, being a level 10 comes with a few unique problems of its own. As we delve deeper into his past, we gain a new understanding of the daily dilemmas he’s facing, some of them are really sad. It’s often lonely at the top – from a very young age. Will he be able to let his armor down again. To hurt, to worry? His musings were a joy to read:
He was so not the comforting type. The wild sex type, yeah. The fear-me type, yeah – all him. Not the hold-a-woman-and-let-her-cry type. (Aaaw, who doesn’t love a badass demon with a chink in his armour?)
Holly and Niol have some seriously dark sexy chemistry going on. Apart from the obvious attraction, I enjoyed the more humorous aspect of their relationship. Niol is the undisputed ruler in town, a fact Holly doesn’t really understand. When he sometimes crosses the line, she freaks out, while he doesn’t really understand what the big deal is. I found it funny as hell…
Midnight’s Master was by far my favorite book in the Midnight trilogy. I bet you can guess why?If you don’t, I’ll tell you right now: It’s because demons have souls. Demons can love. Demons can hurt.
In Cynthia's world, there is always someone to love you, even when you think you are the badest of the bad, and I couldn’t be happier.
Well, I could. It was just too easy to figure out who the killer was.
BUT: *Cough*... come closer I have to admit something. ... ... ... I am warning you, it's kind of gross... You don't HAVE to read it if you don't want to. ... ... ...
To tell you the truth, Cynthia constant mentioning of female “cream” bothered me throughout all three books. I don’t know about you guys, but that makes me think of a yeast infection. WTH is sexy about that? The sex scenes would have been even hotter without that particular word, don't you think?
Vaginal discharge aside, I did love this couple, a lot, and Midnight's Master was my absolute favorite in the series.
I love it when a series ends on a high note! I liked the first two books in Cynthia Eden’s Midnight series well enough, but I didn’t come close to loving them. This book had me crossing that line. Having found Niol to be by far the most fascinating and appealing character in the previous books, and I was hoping against hope that his book wouldn’t disappoint. It sure didn’t – Niol absolutely lived up to my expectations and then some.
I really appreciated that the author didn’t compromise on Niol’s character and try and turn him into something he’s not. I love ambiguous characters – the contrast between light and dark, soft and hard, good and bad. They are always among the most interesting to read, but all too often authors make the mistake of thinking to be a hero, they need to be ‘good’ – to somehow turn their lives around through the love of a good woman. Not so.
As a level 10 Demon, the most powerful known, and owner of a notorious club for the other - supernatural beings – Niol is the baddest badass around. He takes care of his own and doesn’t care what it takes to do just that.He is unapologetically dangerous, and he answers to no-one. That’s how Niol started this book, and that’s how he finished it. No compromises – and I couldn’t be happier.
We got to see a little of the characters from the previous books, but this one was squarely focused on Niol and reporter Holly, as it should be. For some reason, I wasn’t expecting to like Holly, but she made a great partner for Niol with a good mix of bravery and common sense – no TSTL moments for this heroine, thankfully.
As with all the books in this series, there is an equal mix of romance and suspense – both of which came together beautifully in this instalment and were excellently executed. There were a few interesting twists in this one, which focused on the hunt for a human hunting and killing demons (whose existence remains largely unknown). A really great book both to end the series, and in its own right.
Well I was personally dissapointed in this one. Comparing this series to Night Watch series, I have to say the Night Watch series was by far better. In the first and second book Niol was the almighty level ten demon who seemed to be actually interesting character. Well in this book .. he was still level 10 and was supposed to be " the baddest ass in the town" but basically some random chick took away all his ability to think and act. So his "badass" attitude was ruined by the constant thoughts of the "lovey redhead with great ass". I mean, there is only so many times one can read that the girl is gorgeous before it starts getting on nerves. Now Holly was the semi-typical cliche journalist with the attitude ( at least in the beginning) that the " public has the right to know". Now that type of characters always make me want to scream. So one might say I was opposed to her from the beginning. Later on she didnt use those phrases anymore that much and at some point it even seemed that she actually had a brain but yeah.. the ending blehh. Holly was just so selfcentered and seemed to think she can "get to the bottom of that case". I mean, yes, that was kind of her job but.... in case u KNOW ur up against DEMONS and you r some semi-demon/basically human .. ur in way over ur head. And her idea that she and Niol were partners? ... well not to ruin the romance and all but it was pretty obvious from the beginning that Niol just wanted to get laid. So all in all Id say the "romance" part was .. mehh on this book. The storyline was interesting at parts but then Holly just had to stick her nose everywhere ( I mean when ur with ur bf at his work and his workers come to HIM and tell that there is a trouble which HE has to come and see .. what could make a person think that they r equal and SHE should go check it out? ). There were alot of parts like that in this book and I personally found it highly annoying. But maybe thats just me. So to sum up since i got abit carried away, id say the book was entertaining but i was dissapointed in it. I actually hoped more from it since I read the Night Watch series first and actually loved it. SO i gave it 2 stars because I actually finished the book AND it only made me want to throw it at the wall half of the time:)
Here we finally read about Niol, the apparently bad guy from the previous two books.
Ohhh, he's bad, but obviously he's not totally bad. *wink*
Holly is a reporter and she's investigating about the disappearance of her Other informants. She knows that in order to find out something she need to go to the source of information: Niol.
Niol doesn't know what to do and think about Holly. He's powerfully attracted to her, but she's Human. On the other hand, she's not afraid of him, even when he's in a bad mood.
I loved the story. Holly is perfect for Niol and Niol is perfect for Holly !
The attraction between Niol and Holly is strong and there're some very hot scenes! :D
I'm sorry that there're no more books in this series, as I would have liked more information/answers to some questions that, in my opinion, have been left unanswered.
Do not miss reading this book. All Cynthia's book keep your interest because the characters are kick ass, hot and damn sexy. This book is a world where demons, shifters and vampires live in the human world. Holly is the reporter out to find who murdered her sources who happen to be demons. She enlists the help of one level ten badass sexy as all hell demon Niol. The strongest of all the demons.
Along the way Niol starts to feel for Holly what he didn't want to feel again, love which in turn makes him weak. But fate has a way!!!!
I was trying to figure out why this male character so intrigued and excited me but hey whats not to like about somebody who calls you "mine" and who will bring the furies of hell onto anybody who hurts her. You can almost feel the way he looks at Holly as you read this book.
Midnight Master by Cynthia Eden Paranormal Romance- June 30th. 2009 4 ½ stars
Cynthia Eden’s Midnight Master is a book not to be missed! Her books are guaranteed to keep your interest because her characters are: strong, likeable and exciting. As she continues her Midnight series we are introduced to new players and learn intriguing details concerning the Others. A world filled with: demons, shifters and vampires that co-exist with humans. Although it is part of a series, Midnight Master can be easily read alone. If anything, reading this book will make you rush to read the prior books in the series!
There is whole different world where demons, vampire and shifters mask their true natures. These Others have enormous power and hide themselves from humans even as they live among them. Since finding out there about the Others, Holly’s life has become more exciting but also more dangerous. These supernaturals may be stronger than her but that isn’t going to stop her from finding the truth and reporting it. When one of her demon contacts is murdered, Holly is determined to find justice. She hunts down Noil, a level 10 demon with powers she can’t begin to imagine. Although she needs his help to track down the killer she is troubled by her attraction to the dark and sexy demon. He is temptation itself. When the murderer targets Holly, she only deepens her investigation and learns some hard truths about herself.
Noil’s demon powers are something he tries to hide. His abilities are destructive. When his last lover died he unleashed his powers and the sight wasn’t pretty. He doesn’t regret his actions but holds them and his emotions on a tight leash. When Holly tries to enlist his aid Noil tries to ignore her even if she haunts his dreams. He has no business being with anyone, much less with a fragile human. But Holly has a mind of her own and if Noil won’t help her, she will have to do it herself. And Noil finds he can’t let that happen.
I always look forward to reading any book by Cynthia Eden and Midnight Master was no exception. Her books are always fresh and exhilarating. Her confident writing style flows so easily I hardly realize it before I am almost done. I especially enjoyed Holly’s character. Although she realizes being a human is a disadvantage among the Others she still pursues the truth. She is an admirable crusader that I found a perfect foil for Noil. Noil is mysterious and mesmerizing but he needs Holly’s ‘light.’ I love how he becomes protective and caring with Holly. In addition to the great characters, I also found this story an engaging read because Cynthia Eden’s explores the demon world and she reveals secrets as well as introduces new characters. I can’t wait to see how these new turns of events may change future storylines!!
I highly recommend Midnight Master. But WARNING, once you try it I know you will have to get your hands on the rest of series. As a suggestion, if you are a first time reader of her works you might want to start with the first book in the Midnight series, Hotter After Midnight, which is a wonderful shifter romance.

I loved every second of it. The intensity of a murderer, the suspense, the action, and especially the business mixed with pleasure. Niol was a kick-ass demon, and Holly was a character who I truly admire for her strength and passion. I recommend this book to everyone who loves a good action romance. Not a book you want to miss out on!
SPOILERS: DON'T READ IF HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK YET. MY NOTES AREA THAT I JOT DOWN WHILE READING THE BOOK. : YOU HAVE BEN WARNED: SPOILERS: Holly was just a victim of a hit-n-run, her two demon friends killed, and is now a target of the killer(OTHER killer). Realizing this, Niol decides to team up with Holly(to protect her-although he won't admit it) and track the killer down, but he makes his intentions clear that he wants to mix pleasure with business. Niol finds out that Holly is a hybrid demon! Holly doesn't believe it at first, but after meeting with Monster Doctor-aka Emily, it is confirmed that she is indeed an Other( a weak one-level one or two demon). Turns out Holly's ex fiance Zack(who cheated on her with one of his young students Michelle) was the one everyone was looking for-the killer of demons, and he wasn't working alone. He teamed up with Michelle. Turns out Zack, since he's a scientist, has been demon-hunting so that he can observe demon's powers and find their power source. Niol comes, gets shot, Holly jumps in the way to protect him from a bullet, and in the end Zack is killed. Michelle is captured, when later on demons killed her in her holding cell. Niol wanted to do whats right(to protect Holly), so he tried to stay away from her and lose contact with her, but she realizes she loves him too much to let him go. Niol realizes that Holly sees him not as a monster, but as a man.

Book 3 in the Midnight series and an excellent read. Niol has been an ongoing character in the previous books; he's a level 10 demon which means he is extremely powerful and no one would ever call him cuddly. He becomes the hero in this book - despite his frequent efforts to convince one and all he is NOT any kind of a hero, good guy, or white knight. The heroine is Holly Storm, a human reporter whom he saved at the end of the last book.
In this book Holly's 'resources', demons who have been helping her learn about the secret world of the Others, start showing up dead. Further investigations by Smith the ME from books 1 & 2 show that not only have they been sliced and diced but organs have been removed. Holly swears to solve the case and give her friends justice. Niol tries repeatedly to get her to back off before she joins her friends in the morgue but finally agrees to help her so he can protect her. Plot twists ensue...
Great series. Order is very important...
Midnight Series Hotter After Midnight (2008) Midnight Sins (2008) Midnight's Master (2009)
Even if she's a readhead, the heroine in this book sure has her blonde moments, at least in the first half of the story. So, someone is killing demons and some of them are Holly the reporter's sources. She asks Niol the demon for help and he refuses, but since she keeps getting into trouble, they end up investigating the crimes together. Eventually, Holly end up in his bed and finds out something about herself. Then she gets kidnapped by the killer and Niol comes to the rescue so that they can save the day together. The end :)
I just love this series! I hope this isn't the last one. This was my long awaited Niol book. Yes! I love a bad guy hero who is ok walking on the dark side. I would have preferred a better heroine for him because frankly I thought Holly was a bit of a lightweight for him. He needed someone a little darker with a harder edge. She was too sweetness and light for him. But that wasn't enough to detract from my enjoyment of this book.
if you liked the first two, you'll probably. like this one - since they're basically all the same.
characters from the first two books all have roles in this one, but I'm hoping any further books in this series depart as by book three, I just found them all BORING.
The romance was done even better than the previous books in the series though it still had the annoying trait of the previous books of bad investigation work.
They could have found out who the killer was a lot sooner if they followed normal procedure of asking what is usually along the first questions "do you know of anyone who might have a grudge against you?" instead of constantly suspecting the actual victim. This wasn't just a problem in this book but the previous one, too.
This is still my favorite book in this series. I always felt like Niol received too much shit from Colin and Brooks.

Genre & Tropes : Paranormal romance x serial killer plot x demons x vampires x werewolves
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
The last book of the series and my favorite !
I knew I was going to like Niol and I was not disappointed at all, I LOVED him : a very powerful demon with questionable morals but very sexy facing an overly curious journalist with many secrets ?? Add to that, a plot with a human serial killer who kills demons ?? I devoured the book =)
In short, a paranormal romance to devour and the perfect conclusion to this series which is perfect for a fun read !
I loved this book. I read book one and skipped ahead to book three in the series because I wanted to read Niol's story. The tension between the two main characters was fantastic and you could feel it right away. There were a few surprises and the ending was a hell a twist. I loved this series and I wish it continued, maybe with Vanessa or the Captain's story.
I actually loved this book. We got to see the real Niol and I started to like Holly. I noticed this is an older book and appartently the last in this series but it would have been nice for her to expand this series and go a little deeper.
