Jennifer Malone Wright is best known for her best selling novella series, The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter. Other works include the follow up to The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter series called The Arcadia Falls Chronicles, The Graveyard Guardians series and her full length vampire novel called Savior (A Higher Collective Novel).

She resides in the beautiful mountains of northern Idaho with her husband and five children where she practices preparing for the zombie apocalypse. Just kidding!

But seriously, between the craziness of taking care of her children, Jennifer has little time left for herself. The time she does have left, usually leading far into the night, is spent working on her beloved fiction or chatting with her equally crazy friends.

I was given a e-copy in exchange for my honest review.

Warning: Adult Read
This installment is Jade's version of the events that took place the day the Zombie Apocalypse stared.

Jade's and Kylee's lives changed more than they every would have thought by going on tour. Nothing will change your life more than meeting your first Zombie wile on a plane, right? Jade is fast into action, protecting herself and the others on the plane. I guess being the mother of 5, you kind of have to be prepared for just about anything. Just because it might be the end of the world, doesn't mean the girls have to lose their sense of humor. When they aren't kicking Zombie butt, they are throwing out smart remarks to each other. If they make it off the plane unzombified, they still have to see what is waiting for them when they land.

A must read! Can't wait for more of this series.

THIS NOVELLA IS FOR 18+ READERS, STRONG LANGUAGE THROUGHOUT!!!!

LOVE LOVE this novella

Firstly I need to say a huge thank you to author Jennifer Malone Wright for the chance to read this amazing read!!! OUAZA - Jade. I received this copy for my enjoyment, and it’s only fair that I in turn take the opportunity to give my fair and unbiased opinion in a review. To follow is my opinion, and not that of any other person.

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when I started to read OUAZA - Jade, but I knew that it had to be a good one because as of date I have yet to be let down on any of Ms. Jennifer’s books whether they be full length or novellas… I have loved them all. Once Upon A Zombie Apocalypse is now exception!!! I absolutely loved it from the first page all the way to the very end. The only thing is that it ended way to fast, I wanted to read more, and kept clicking the next page on my kindle only to see the pages not moving to the next one. So not fair Jennifer!!!

I’m not going to give away to much of the story, to do so would be unfair with it being a novella of 50 pages, but I will say this that if you know Jennifer as a person, who is most definitely Jade in this novella, and if you know Kymberlee in person, who again is moist definitely Kylee then you can and will quite easily picture in your mind the interaction that the two main characters have with each other throughout the story as being “SO” like the way they talk to each other, with their valued friendship and banter back and forth.

This sweet novella is fast paced, very easily visualized in your mind and a blast to read. I found myself laughing out loud as I read certain parts. Picturing the event actually happening. It is hilarious!!!! I love both Jade and Kylee’s characters. This is A MUST READ for sure. Don’t wait to read this little novella till later, mosey on over a snag yourself a copy and dive right on in.

I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review.
So be honest it was a lot harder to write a review for this book because I read it second lol. I already knew what was going to happen. The books are the same but told from different perspectives.i still friggin laughed my ass of at all the funny parts. But this one also showed parts that we didn't get to see in Kylee. One huge part in particular. I did really enjoy how you could pick up either book and read in whatever order you wanted. Also with this style or writing you learn new things about the story and characters. I can't wait to continue on with the series. All readers who love zombies or post apocalyptic stories should read these books.

Ok, so I was HONORED to receive this book from the author for an honest review. I read Kylee's POV first and LOVED it. This was equally AWESOME. They had me laughing at some of the same points in their stories but then Jade had other LOL moments. I cant wait to read more about their journey to find their families. The whole zombie thing actually happening one day scares me but this made for some good reading. You have to roll with the punches and Jade and Kylee are doing just that. I highly recommend you download but remember this is for A MATURE AUDIENCE***

10+*s. I won a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

This is a wickedly hilarious and awesome look at Jade's point of view. Of course, I have to say that this character reminds me a lot of the author and what I can only assume that she would do in a Zombie Apocalypse. It's full of excitement, adventure, two authors and a little girl. My favorite part of the book is the code Oceans or Red and of course I know what they are talking about too as soon as I read it. These characters had so much personality of each author in these two books. This is a MUST read that will capture your mind, heart, and soul and keep you hooked til the end. Thank you, Jennifer Malone Wright, for giving us a look into what you would do if a zombie apocalypse really did happen. I loved this book so much that I had to purchase it too.

I'm being drawn to novellas lately...adult on-set ADHD or just the fact that I have spent too much time an dmoney on full lehgth books I haven't enjoyed? Either way, I really enjoyed this novella. I sugest reading the "about the authors" first because then you can see why the story is set up as it is, and further appreciate where "Jade" is coming from.

I think this is a wonderful start to what is a planned series, and I look forward to reading the other books the authors have planned.

So last night's entertainment consisted of this first episode of "Once Upon A Zombie Apocalypse," penned by two young female authors who are writing about two young female authors stuck in a zombie outbreak, on an airplane of all places. The story is written twice, by each of the authors from a different character's POV. Thankfully, the story I selected first was the MacGuyver version of the pair - the one that could shot, think straight, and still ask questions. Later, I suppose, I will need to take up the story from Kylee's perspective - she of the pink trimmed leopard suitcases and the stiletto heels.

Good humor, pleasant writing style, sufficient gore. Not bad at all.

This novella is a real hoot! It was laugh out loud, roll in the isles funny, and downright scary at times for those of up with the "what if" mentality regarding a zombie apocalypse. The world building is fantastic and you have to love the characters, who frankly I wish were my besties. It is a very short read and I really wish there was more, but it is my understanding the series will continue on with more installments to come. It should be mentioned that there are two installments of this same story, each written from one of the main protagonists' point of view, this was Jade's perspective. I eagerly await the next book in the series and can only hope it will be a little longer to feed that need I have for more. I would recommend this book for mature audiences due to graphic violence and language as is stated in the synopsis / description. I won this book at a facebook party for an author not related to this series.

Print Length: 50 pages
I received this book in exchange for a honest review.

Cover~
I just love the cover on this book! I love the contrast and the light-hearted nature of the look compared to the serious title. It suggests lots of humor.

My Review~
I love these two Zombie Novellas and the authors Kym Miller and Jenn Wright. Their writing is so funny and fabulous! Both the Novellas are funny and you get to experience it first through Kylee in book one and the second novella with Jade. It was written very well. I loved reading both their experiences that through the apocalypse they come at it with action and humor. I can't wait to see what's in store for these awesome buttkicking chickas! Wishing had the next book right now and that they were way longer!!

I just didn't like this book at all. There was nothing wrong with the writing style or the way the story was put together so I'm not attaching blame to the author for my low mark. I just couldn't stand the two MCs and when that happens, I struggle to get into the story.

Basically, Jade annoyed me a bit but at least she seemed capable of keeping her head and dealing with the situation. But Kylee drove me round the bend with her airhead behaviour and non operating brain. Yes of course I get that not everyone will deal with a zombie apocalypse in the same way but she is so dumb that I wanted to slap her! One minute she is helping Jade to fend off zombies, then once off the plane, she decides that even though she just killed a zombie, they don't exist and Jade must be mistaken about them. Ten seconds later Kylee sees more zombies shambling towards her and suddenly believes they do exist again. That is just a stupid character, and I don't have much patience for them!

I also found the girls to be a bit too girlie for me. I'm not into reading about women MCs who are interested in shoes, fashion and make-up as those subjects don't interest me at all. I like my heroines to be snarky kickass girls. But that is a personal thing and it's hardly the author's fault if I'm not a fashion diva!

There were a few rather unbelievable moments in the book that really annoyed one of my friends. Kylee slides down the escape chute with her feet in the air just as a zombie comes to attack her and she accidently puts the heel of her shoe through his brain and kills him. Hmmm. Not very likely but things like that don't bother me in zombie books. It's fine to tweak reality a bit in this kind of book for the sake of entertainment. And that scene was actually pretty amusing when you get the image in your head.

So overall I guess you would say that my dislike of the book is more about my personal preferences than there being anything wrong with the content. If you like a humourous, not to be taken seriously zombie book, this might well be to your tastes.

This and Once Upon A Zombie Apocalypse - Kylee are a great start to a promising zombie survival serial. The serials are written alternately by Jennifer Malone Wright and K.B. Miller apart from Kylee's first one which was written by both.

"K.B. Miller and Jennifer Malone Wright areboth authors of the paranormal and urban genres. Once Upon A Zombie Apocalypse came about after many discussions on how they would survive the zombie apocalypse. Their survival strategies were sodifferent from each other on some accounts; they decided it would be fun to see the two differences trying to survive together. K.B.and Jennifer met as mere acquaintances and have now formed a life-long friendship."

I'm usually a little sceptical when it comes to a book (or in this case, a serial) being written by more than one author. Often such things are either lacking in substance or have no coherent thread linking them and just don't work that well together. Not so here - we have two very distinctive characters written by different authors and it works so well. It's great to see characters have such strong voices - I reckon you could even take their behaviour/speech out of context and you would still be able to tell which character it was. I love it! This is the perfect reason for having more than one author. The two characters (and, presumably, by extension, the authors) complement each other so well too.

Kylee and Jade are really kick ass, not to mention absolutely hilarious. Recommended! My only gripe? The only place I can find Episode 2 is Kindle and I can't find Episode 3 anywhere, nor any episodes after that. Gutted! If anyone knows where I can find them, hit me up!

I like the term "the goners" for the Zombies. There were some funny moments in this zombie apocalypse. I felt connected to the characters and there was definitely a lot of action for a short story. I will be moving onto Kylee's side, but I would read the next part of it after reading this.

Once Upon a Zombie Apocalypse ~ Jade

This was a fascinating new twist to the Zombie genre, I loved the fact that they started the Zombie Apocalypse in flight!! It made the beginning of the novel frightening & thrilling all at the same time!! It made me not want to put the book down!! I’m looking forward to see where the next book picks up!! I also found it fascinating that are heroines were 2 strong female characters that write horror fiction as their life’s work!! I will definitely recommend this series to my daughter!! We both love horror books!! We’re more into the vampire genre but this has given me reason to pause & consider looking further into zombie thrillers!! 🙃🙂🙃

Awesome

Jade Kylee and Cheri on a plane going home and what do you know? A zombie Apocalypse breaks out. The pilot is being eaten but manages to land plane safely. Cheri's father is bitten and changes. So Kylee and Jade are left with the care of a young girl. All they want is to get home to their families. Action and comedy in this awesome story. Great job Miss Wright. Will definitely recommend to friends and fellow readers.

Loved it

This was funny and lots of fun. It would have been a five star except last time I looked Louisville, Kentucky was on the Ohio River, not the Mississippi. (Big mistake.) That's a little further west. But you were right about the weather in Kentucky. It sucks.

Since this one is just slightly different (MC is Jade instead of Kylee), I will copy most of my review from Kylee's review here and edit it at some places, the new parts are in bold.

As I also said with my review for Kylee's POV book I did think the graphic language warning and violence warning was a bit overkill. I have seen quite a bit more cussing and violence in some YA novels. But oh well. :P

I definitely loved that this one took place mostly in a plane. Yes, I have read quite a few zombie books but never have I had one that took place in a plane. On the airport, yes, but an actual real flying in the air and oh boy you don't want zombies there plane? No. So I was definitely delighted, and creeped out. Would our girls survive this, because when stuff goes to hell, stuff goes to hell real fast and real horrifying.

It was definitely a bit standard, it starts of with peace and quiet, just a few hints here and there that something might be up, that something will go down. People coughing, people half-vomiting, people acting a bit weird, not getting a connection to loved ones. But I really love it when that builds up to a good zombie. :P

Still quite a bit sad that the blurb already spoils how the zombies came to be. That wasn't mentioned until the last few pages of the story. Jade's husband tells her about the zombies and what happens, and Kylee comes up with an explanation to how it all came to a zombie flu.

The two MCs, or well, I do call them that though Jade is the one we follow on this crazy ride this time. I loved both of them to bits. They were just so kick-ass. Nothing like how some people are during the zombie apocalypse, with these 2 we might just stand a chance. Unlike most people who would just try to restrain a zombie even when it is clearly not going to stop eating and munching, Jade just tackles zombies left and right, and even Kylee is getting into it quickly. They really saved a lot of people that day, though I do wonder how many will survive in the end. :(

This book is in Jade's POV, and it made me like her much more than I already did (yes, I didn't think that was possible). What I did find a shame was that she often, correction 90% of the time had the same, exact, word for word, thoughts or actions as Kylee had in her book. I know about telepathy, but please. I had just expected a bit more difference. For instance this sentence: "The other person was a young woman with a baby. Shit! A fucking baby! Why didn't she go into coach?" It is just the EXACT SAME word by word what Kylee thought in her book. *rolls eyes* I am definitely taking 1 star of this book. I expected Jade's POV, not Kylee with a dash of Jade.
It did get a bit better near the end, we finally got more new material, and I was quite happy.

The addition of the scene with Cheri's dad was a great one. Finally we could see what was going on in there.

Cheri was a nice addition to the story, and I can't wait to see how she will survive. She got 2 kick-ass ladies helping her out, so I am sure she will be able to survive.

I am glad I decided to go for this book, the blurb definitely pulled me in, the cover just said NOPE to me (sorry if that is harsh but I love a good book cover and often get turned away if a cover is just meh/bleh/urgh).

I would recommend this series to everyone. While I am not totally on the fence on recommending both of these books, since they are pretty much the same with some small changes (only near the end when the plane lands there are some bigger chances).

And yes, I probably would have said the same stuff I said here (there being so little difference) if I had read Jade's book first and then Kylee's afterwards.

Don't ask me why I picked up this book. Although I've read zombie books before it is not my favorite genre. I think I snagged it because it is short - only 50 pages according to Amazon - and I was looking for a quick read. Plus I saw that the main characters were two authors who had been attending an author conference when the zombies appeared. Kind of intriguing, don't you think? At least from an author's view.

What I like about this series is the concept. The series is written by two authors who are collaborating on these "episodes" as they are calling them. The first two novellas in the series are written from the two perspectives of the main characters - Jade and Kaylee. Following that, I've read that the episodes are no longer written from separate perspectives.

What I didn't like. The story in this first episode was written fairly well and was a bit funny, intentionally so. The were two little problems for me - and maybe you wouldn't even notice them if you were reading this. I found that the characters reactions to the zombies were a little bit far fetched. I realize these characters were writers of vampire fiction and maybe that was supposed to be why they didn't react as I would have expected, but it did bug me a little bit.

Also, the writing style was annoying for me in a few places. Again, it probably wouldn't bug the average reader. It just bugged me.

Overall though, I did get a kick out of this little book and the concept is really pretty cool. I'd give it a solid three and half stars. (Rounded up for convenience.)

Imagine sitting on a plane waiting to go home from a writer's conference when you discover that the people on board are becoming infected with a zombie like contagion including the pilot. Well, poor Jade and her best friend, Kylee are in this very predicament and "Once Upon A Zombie Apocalypse" is the first installment of their story.

Prior to the plane's departure, the flight attendant requested that someone in first class was a fan of theirs and wanted to meet them. So, Kylee and Jade go to first class and meet a famous music producer and his daughter Cherimoya, aka Cheri. They also notice there is a very sick but famous young singer star on board as well. However, before they are able to get back to their seats, all hell breaks loose and the Apocalypse begins.

When the plane makes an emergency landing, the girls are able to exit the plane along with Cheri. Her father had been bitten and now is one of the undead. Once the girls are outside, they are confronted with some teenage boys who are insistent upon taking their gun or Cheri. That of course was before they were attacked by zombies.

This was a great first episode to a serial read. I really had a lot of fun reading this even though I am not a big zombie fan. I am very familiar with Jennifer Malone Wright's work; so, I thought I would give this book a try. I'm glad I did. If you are still sitting on the fence after reading my review; then, there is good news for you, this first book is free through Amazon.com. Check it out! It really is quite good.
