It’s not every day a girl discovers she’s not entirely human and unlocks hidden powers strong enough to make even the First Race take notice. Then again, Ava Michaels is no ordinary girl.
Now, the Race’s Ruling Council wants her under their control, and that’s just the beginning of her problems. Her boyfriend, Caleb Foster, has disappeared—accused of betraying the Race—and Ava herself is implicated in a crime she didn’t commit.
Clearing their names will mean uncovering a web of deceit and intrigue with Ava woven right in the center. To unravel the strands, she joins forces with some unlikely allies; a Protector who once haunted her nightmares, a young girl with secrets as unexpected as Ava’s, and a group of rebel Guardians who have their own fight against the Council.
Together they stand in a battle to find the truth, bring Caleb home, and secure Ava’s freedom—not to mention save her life.
T.M. Franklin writes stories of adventure, romance, & a little magic. A former TV news producer, she decided making stuff up was more fun than reporting the facts. Her first published novel, MORE, was born during National Novel Writing month, a challenge to write a novel in thirty days. MORE was well-received, being selected as a finalist in the 2013 Kindle Book Review Best Indie Book Awards, as well as winning the Suspense/Thriller division of the Blogger Book Fair Reader's Choice Awards. She's since written four additional novels and several best-selling short stories...and there's always more on the way.
Brilliant sequel in which Ava comes to find out more about her Race heritage and her relationship with Caleb is tested. I got a bit of a crush on Tiernan as we learned more about him, and now I can’t wait for the third book!
And that's the biggest understatement of the year. With all that happened in the past few months, such as learning that she's actually not entirely human, unlocking hidden powers too strong and eccentric that it makes even the First Race doubt and refer to her as a threat, and so much more. You'd think that with all she'd been through--the girl would take a break right? But of course, that won't happen.
For one, her boyfriend seems to have changed. Caleb seems distant, distrustful. And not to mention the fact that he suddenly disappears when he was accused of betraying their race. Second, she's hold accountable for a crime that she didn't commit. And third, well, it all goes downhill from there.
With the help of an unlikely ally, a mysterious "brain scrambler", and a group of protectors called The Guardians, they will both do anything to clear their names, help Ava learn the truth about who and what she is, and maybe even save the world, at that.
Continuing a few months right after the events at the ending of More, The Guardians is a brilliant, enchanting book. The characters have all evolved and progressed well, especially Ava. There's also the added back stories, the new information, the truth about Ava, and oh dear. This book was both shocking and spellbinding.
Like I've always said, I always have doubts when reading the second book of a series because they always seem to you know, go downhill from there, but finally get back on track on the third book. But Seriously? This book is actually a whole lot better than the first.
It was filled with fast paced actions, and a whole lot more that everyone will surely love. It was just a page turner, and I read it all in just one sitting, much like I did with the first book. T.M. Franklin is seriously a genius. [5 Stars]
*I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a honest review*
Well, dayum. This book certainly doesn't suffer from middle book syndrome! I'm tempted to say it's even better than the first. Ms. Franklin again weaves together a great plot that flows. I'll admit, Caleb had a pole stuck up his ass for a lot of the book. So much so, I wanted to slap him silly. But, he has a valid reason why, as we later find out. I'll forgive him. Ava is still a wonderful kick ass heroine. She could give some other people pointers *cough*Bella*cough*. Sadly, there is no misunderstood (possibly slightly psycho) bad boy. You all know how I adore them these days. This also means no crazy annoying love triangle *happy dance*. Luckily for me there is a tough guy who creeped his way into my heart. I'd give him a cookie. All in all, this book is a testament to how YA books should be done. I can't wait to see what gets done with the third book. 5 stars. Thank you to The Writer's Coffee Shop, Ms. Franklin, and NetGalley for the ARC.
I’ve been waiting impatiently for this book and it topped my expectations. TM Franklin is an elegant writer with an impressive imagination and I had to read this in one sitting. I love both Ava and Caleb, but now I’ve got a bit of a crush on Tiernan. Who would have dreamed the guy had a sense of humour?
Ava learns a lot about her past and future in this installment and she is literally empowered to function in her new world. It’s a treat to see her evolve. But even better? Caleb truly supports her, demonstrating his honour of her wishes even when he doesn’t like her decisions. I am definitely in love with him now.
I can’t wait to see what happens next. Much thanks to The Writers’ Coffee Shop, NetGalley and T M Franklin for allowing me to read this ARC. Five stars.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This 2nd book of the MORE TRILOGY is OUTSTANDING. T.M. Franklin does not disappoint and I have to say that this book exceeded my expectations. Its action packed plot kept me at the edge of my seat. So many secrets were unraveled but more secrets are yet to be revealed. I enjoyed that the romance aspect of the story was brought out further and I really liked that I got to know more about the other characters in this book (e.g. Tiernan). Ava and Tiernan’s little banters and competitions made me laugh…a lot…and Ava and Caleb’s romance made me gush… a lot... and Ava's discovery of her powers made me really excited. This book really took me for a rollercoaster ride and I hope that the next book does the same. Really looking forward to the next book!!!
WHAT A RIDE! I read this in one day. Kept wondering why I thought it was a good idea to make bread when all I wanted to do was sit and read! Had to tear myself away from the book to make the rolls!
Ms. Franklin's skill with words is amazing. I was on the edge of my seat wondering who the bad guys are, wondering how Ava was going to save Caleb, and whether she was going to need saving.
I can SEE this as a movie. Truly. A really great movie.
Caleb has issues here. He's doubting his way of life. He's snapping at Ava, then wondering why. And she's wondering, too.
Ava has had a hard, and eye-opening, couple months. Her Race gifts are strong, but she herself isn't. She's learning to control her gift, but she can't run at speed. Why not?
And the Council is keeping her in their sights with a Race member always having their eyes on her. It can be trying! Especially when she wants to spend some quality time with her beau, Caleb. I want her to spend quality time with Caleb.
Ms. Franklin has given us a few twists, a few turns, some new friends...and she has me salivating for the next installment. I want MORE, now!
FIVE BOOKMARKS! (although I should have taken one away since we have to WAIT so long for the third book...JK!!!)
*Thank you, T.M. Franklin and TWCS, for the opportunity to read The Guardians.
I received this book to read and review. (and no worries I never write spoilers) THANK YOU for that. I thought More was great and was actually not certain that The Guardians could in any way top that, but boy was I wrong and in this case I loved to be wrong. The book is written with such emotions and heart. It will make you smile, it will make you frown and if your weak like me, it will bring you to tears. So looking forward to the third installment, I am sure it will be a little while. I am ready. I LOVED IT!!!!!
This second book to More was amazing! I think I liked this one better!! It's rare that I find sequel better than the first but that's what this was. It was awesome. I NEED the third one! Get writing lady!!
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
It took me a little to get into this book because it had been so long since I'd read the first. So, i put it down and read MORE again. It really helped as there are so many quirky little details to this world and to The race, that are important to Franklin's stories that they really should be fresh in your mind.
Caleb is as adorable as ever in this book. He still wears his 'geeky' face to those around him which endears him to me. I like my book boyfriends to be thinkers with a inner strength rather than out and out brawn. Although, he does have that too in his natural form, but that's ok.
Ava is also a character that I enjoyed reading about. Unlike many heroines in this genre annoy me for a number of reasons, but not her. She's sassy, knows her own mind, and fights for what she wants/needs/loves. Just how you want a female lead to be. I'm sick to death of the 'damsel in distress - must be rescued by a hot, rich hunk' types and Ava is as far from that as you can get.
The relationship between the 2 is tested when Caleb disappears and Ava is suddenly being accused of all sort of crazy stuff. The way Franklin writes most of this makes the reader consider both Ava and Caleb's innocence. I mean, if they're questioning themselves, then maybe they did do it... right?
I honestly can't wait until the release of the next book because the world that Franklin has created is one that sucks you in and doesn't quite let you go, even when the story is over. If you like a paranormal story that makes you consider it could be possible, sort of, then this is the series for you!
I have to admit I think I liked this book a little bit more than More. This surprises me, as most middle books are usually more filler and fluff, but this book actually moved the plot of this series along nicely. My only real complaint was I wanted more Ava and Caleb interaction, but I understood why this couldn't have happened in this book.
The story continues pretty much where More left off, with Caleb helping Ana hone in on her skills. I love that Franklin allowed Ana to be strong and feisty, yet her emotions and confusion over Caleb's actions felt honest. Ana is struggling to find her place in this new world where she's not exactly human, and in this book she is also trying to clear her name from a crime she didn't commit, all the while trying to figure out why Caleb pulled a major disappearing act on her.
Then there's Caleb, who for reasons unknown until the very end, is pulling away from Ava just when she needs him most. And boy, for a few chapters you want to kick him in his junk just to try and get him to snap out of it. And boy, that is one humdinger of an apology.
I have to say the supporting cast in this book was phenomenal and so well flushed out. Tiernan is just a fabulous character and the snappy dialogue between he and Ava makes you grin from ear to ear.
Overall, a nice continuation to More with an intriguing plot and growth by all the characters as well. I enjoyed the added background about The Race which really filled in some of the gaps that was left for me in the first book. I still would have loved more interaction between Ava and Caleb, but the book stood on its own with a fast paced plot.
Really looking forward to the conclusion to this series.
So this is part 2 of the More Series. The guardians picks up where more left off.
Ava now knows that she is a little different from those around her, but that there is an awful lot going around her that she didn’t realize.
The Race’s Ruling Council have plans for her, however everything then changes with false accusations, and a race to prove her innocence. On setting out to clear her name, Ava’s enemies become friends, and nightmares become real.
I liked that we learn more about Tiernan in this book, and how he stepped up so to speak.
Caleb’s douchey actions and disappearance are not explained until much later in the book, which I equally loved and hated. As it meant there was not enough interaction between him and Ava, I hope we get a lot more development in book 3 that’s for sure!
What I really like is that although there are quite a few secondary characters in this series, they all feel fully fleshed out, and integral to the tale. No one is superfluous and I feel we are given enough information about them all to know why they are in the story. It is great too see the story building up as well, there is a little bit of everything going on which as a whole makes the book hard to put down, as you are literally desperate to know “what happens next”!
Another great installment, looking forward to book 3, and the conclusion of this really enjoyable series!
**I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.**
T.M. Franklin did not disappoint when it came to her sequel. This was just as fabulous as More. I loved watching Caleb and Ava grow together as a couple and then face the "dark forces" trying to separate them and take over the world...you know the usual couples troubles ;)
Biggest surprise was probably Tiernan, I LOVED him in this book. I never even considered him a possible character to expand on, but talk about unlikely allies...I didn't want him to leave the scene EVER!
I loved that we got to slowly learn little bits and pieces of Ava's past and how everything started to fit together. I'm excited to see where Franklin takes us with "The Twelve" and Ava's part in this story, as well as how the Council and Gideon will fit into the overall story...will Ava succumb to Borre'? will Ava and Caleb love withstand all?! SO MANY QUESTIONS I can't wait to have answered! How will Emma play in everything? will we see more of Katherine? Madeleine?
T.M. Franklin you've woven a FANTASTIC SERIES, that I can't wait to continue to be apart of.
Thanks for the opportunity to read it, it's been one of my favorites series to read this year!!!
BOOK REVIEW BY RENEE ROBINSON ISBN: 9781612131719 , The Guardians, by T.M. Franklin's – Part 2 of a trilogy. Tells of college student, Ava Michaels. She is intelligent, funny, and “the girl nextdoor” type. She is in love with Caleb Foster who comes up missing. Throughout Ava's efforts to find Caleb, her life and others are at risk as The Rogues, a rebellious group of the race, follow plans of of their own which take everyone by surprise. I can't wait to read the final book. This story is creative, riveting and original. It is a must of the shelf of all sci-fi, fantasy and even paranormal buffs.
Terrific follow-up to the first book in the series, More. The Guardians is fast paced, full of action and intrigue. I was pulled in from the first page, didn't want to stop reading about Ava, Caleb, Tiernan and the others. So looking forward to the final book in the trilogy.
**Provided by Netgalley and The Writer's Coffee Shop Publishing House for an honest review**
An action packed sequel that will leave you wanting more.
The second book in the series often is not as good as the first, however this is not the case with this book.
This book is filled with so much that things seem to twist and turn before your eyes. You certainly do not know who can be trusted and appearances of character can be deceiving.
Ava and Caleb are of course in the middle of the book, and we see more of Tiernan who has wiggled his way into my good books.
After Caleb acts strangely, he disappears, so Ava, with Tiernan in tow, goes to find him. Along the way she finds herself wanted for murder and on the run. She also has Tiernan constantly checking in with the council as someone there has found a good 'finder of people'.
They are told in which direction to head and find, instead of Caleb a teenage girl with strong powers that can manipulate the mind. They take her along with them to the colony in Canada that Caleb was going to take her to in book one.
Once there Tiernan tries to help her with unlocking her powers in every way her can, but they get no where.
Gideon is the head of the guardians and is Calebs father. After talks he says that there are rumours about the rogues. When Ava feels them coming they are all ready for the up coming fight.
When Caleb and Ava meet he tries to get both Ava and Emma to go with him but Ava binds him with her powers. Once the fight is over they drag him to an area inside where Emma clears his head as it was her that changed him.
Later that night after not being able to sleep Ava finds Emma and agrees to let her take the rest of the block from her mind where she gets a nose bleed.
The next day, with the others in tow she displays her new talents, only stopping when Caleb tackles her as her nose is bleeding. She hadn't noticed but now notices that she also has a headache.
Not being able to sleep again Ava gets up to see Emma walking into the woods, so she gets up and follows her. Emma uses her mind control against Ava and pushes her to use her powers feeding her extra energy. Ava ignores her bleeding nose.
Caleb turns up and tries to talk Ava out of what she is doing, but Emma continues to touch her and manipulate her. It is only when she has nearly killed Caleb that something causes her to stop. Realising what she has done, she rushes to Caleb who instantly shifts them back to safety.
Back at the colony, they all discuss and come up with a plan of action for what now has to be done.
I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait for the next one.
Please note: I received this book for free via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for the opportunity!
In The Guardians, book two of the More series, we read as Ava continues learning of her Race blood and the powers and abilities that come with it. Alongside her is Caleb, her boyfriend. When something happens to Caleb, Ava must do everything in her power to find him, but will friends and new acquaintances help or hinder her during her journey?
And more, who exactly is Ava, and what is her destiny to be?
I really enjoyed reading The Guardians and it definitely was successful in holding my interest enough to finish it in one sitting, just like the first book. The mystery of Ava, and Caleb's disappearance, was fun to read, and I was able to connect with the characters enough to feel the outrage, happiness, and even fear on their behalf at certain points in the story. This story was very well-written, which was in evidence that I couldn't even put it down once while reading, so entertaining was the read.
The characters were fun to read as the story progressed. I admit that I was not a huge fan of Tiernan or Katherine in the first book, but The Guardians kind of redeemed them in my eyes, so to speak. They definitely grew on me, and I'm glad I continued the series. I think that if I were to wish for one thing, though, it would be for there to be more relationship-building between Ava and Caleb.
Overall, though, The Guardians was a great read, and I would most certainly consider purchasing my own finished copy for my collection. I would recommend this book and it's predecessor to anyone who enjoys reading upper young adult/new adult books with a little bit of everything included – romance, mystery, suspense, and even a little action.
Confession... I have been itching to get my hands on this book ever since I read More earlier this year. And now, it is finally here! It was only just released yesterday, so yes this is brand new on the market and a MUST READ!!
The Guardians picks up right where More left off. From the first page, it is a wild ride of an adventure. As a reader, you are powerless to do anything other than hold on to the book (or eReader) with both hands, and hang on for the wild ride.
T.M. Franklin has a wonderful writing style. She knows just how to put together a scene so as to draw in the reader and place them in the scene. You can feel the frustration as Ava struggles through her training. You are even a little jealous of the strength of love between her and Caleb.
Now this isn't a spoiler, but Caleb does go to the dark side (the Rogues) in The Guardians. Normally, this bugs me in series like The Hunger Games, The Mortal Instruments, etc. But here, it works, and works well. This one was not just a mere 'page-turner.' Oh, no... it was nothing short of an addiction for me. It was impossible for me to put this down, and I cannot wait until I can get another fix of T.M. Franking and the More series.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
Following on from my review of book one (More), I really enjoyed this book as well - even more so than book one. The characters are established and the premise is set, however as stated in my review of book one I didn't feel that the story was very original. There were elements that were identical to or nearly identical to the Mortal Instruments series and for that I could only give this four stars. Props to the author for a well written story nonetheless (I actually preferred the writing in this to TMI).
Well that is truly the understatement of the century!
Once again T.M. Franklin hits it out of the park with her follow up to More.
Dare I even say I loved it more than More??
Yes, I absolutely dare because WOWThe Guardians was just an AMAZING ride! I am still a little giddy thinking about it.
After all the drama, trauma, and heart stopping palpitations of More, we find Ava back at school, transitioning into her "new life" with the humans while the Council watches to make sure she stays quiet about the Race.
Ava and Caleb have come to understand and accept their feelings for one another, though Caleb is still holding back a bit, leaving Ava somewhat frustrated and confused. But their banter is still as lovable and infectious as always. Caleb continues to help Ava train and understand her gifts. All seems to be going along well, until Caleb starts acting distant and odd. Ava doesn't want to push not knowing what the issue really is but then Caleb is accused of betraying the Council by joining the Rogues. Caleb runs, and Tiernan is brought in to bring Caleb before the Council. Ava doesn't believe that Caleb has switched sides and convinces Tiernan to let her come along while he tracks down Caleb.
The story really takes off at this point and T.M. Franklin once again leads us down a path of twists and turns as well as not knowing who to really trust. I especially liked Ava and Tiernan's blossoming friendship. I think they had a mutual love/hate/respect for each other. They had quite the banter at certain times that was extremely amusing.
And while he scared the bajeepers out of me in More, in The Guardians, I really grew to like and trust him.
The author's ability to seamlessly introduce secondary characters just added to the pace and flow of the story. And even though their are a multitude of characters and story lines going on, I was not at no time lost or confused.
This is obviously a huge credit to the author's writing style, just again a big WOW.
I was again fully drawn into the author's world that I read this book in two evenings.
The multilayered story lines are nicely tied up with many answers held over from the first book, but still unsettled issues and questions exist leaving just enough questions and trepidation about the Rouges to leave you wanting more.
There is nothing better than a series moving along and getting better and better with each book.
Truly one of the best series I have read in a long time.
And....I am so HAPPY I have Twelve because I don't think I could have waited for what happens next to Ava and Caleb!!!
Put away your “Middle Book Syndrome” GIFs, The Guardians is about to blow that concept out of the water. Beginning just months after the conclusion of More, the first book in the series, The Guardians plot picks up fast and drags you right from page one to the very end.
Once again, Ava comes across as a strong and smart young woman. She’s coming into her powers and working hard to improve them while spending time with her beloved Caleb. She’s not entirely human, she’s considered a threat by the ruling power in her supernatural world, and she’s fighting to prove her innocence after being accused of a crime she didn’t commit. Did I mention she’s also trying to find Caleb after he went all pull-away-be-a-jerk-disappear on her? Yeah, the girl has a lot on her plate. But with a little help from some surprising sources, she powers her way through.
And Caleb – never have the words “I’m sorry” ripped my little heart in the two like they did when Caleb said them. He’s still strong and supportive of Ava, though you kind of want to whack him upside the head for a few chapters. Even in the limited scenes he has in the book, you get to see his respect for Ava and how much he cares for her. Their romance is solidly secondary to the intrigue, but the scenes with Caleb and Ava together are sweet enough to warm your little romance-loving heart even as that damn plot makes you question everything you’ve ever known about the characters in the series. But still…I love Caleb.
And did I mention my new and super-surprising crush on Guardian Tiernan? Yeah, he gets a little shelf in my heart all to himself. The banter between him and Ava had me chuckling more than once, and his character truly surprised me. I love when that happens.
I gave this book four stars. The growth of all the characters (both primary and secondary) along with a suspense-filled plotline had me loving this book from the very first page. There is a real growth in backstory in this installment of the series, and it makes me even more excited to get my hands on the final book when it comes out. T.M. Franklin is definitely an author to stalk…erm, I mean support.
I found the second book much more compelling, because there was more action and a bit of mystery. When Caleb starts to act differently towards Ava, and then disappears without a trace, she has to turn to an unlikely Protector, Tiernan. Together they look for Caleb, and find out more about Ava’s past and her powers.
The biggest thing about this series that I found disappointing was the lack of originality with the powers. Everyone they encounter has powers that are vaguely too similar to the vampires in Twilight. I still think that maybe in the last book, we will see more from these characters, that will make them stand out more for me.
The UST is ramped up a bit, because Ava and Caleb in the beginning spend quite a bit of time together. Their physical relationship is something that scares Ava, because Caleb warns her that it could become too intense, if they are not careful. It is put on hold when Caleb disappears, but Ava doesn’t give up hope, that they still could have a future together.
Quite a few secondary characters show up in the second book, and we also learn more about Caleb’s past and his non-relationship with his father. Ava’s new powers are emerging, and the scenes where she tests herself are written quite well. The author still needs to improve the chemistry between the main characters though. By the end of the book, I am still left wanting more. Not that I want a cliff hanger ending. I think that the last book will be great if we get more time with Ava and Caleb.
I received this book free from Netgalley in exchange for n honest review. I really enjoyed the first book in this series MORE, so I was elated when I found out I had been approved by netgalley to read and review The Guardians. This novel was a fairly quick read and it was easy to get through despite the author throwing a ton of information at the reader. I loved getting all of that background info and it cleared up some of the rather large mysteries surrounding Ava's life. But at the same time T.M. Franklin brought up even more questions which I hope will be answered in the next instalment. I'm very glad the Ava was coming into her own abilities finally and even more when the block came down. I am curious to see if that will affect Ava in a positive or negative way. I just love how you can feel the love radiating between Ava and Caleb. I also now feel like Katherine and Tiernan were misunderstood in book one and in this novel I actually enjoyed them as characters and liked hearing about their lives. What can I say about Caleb without giving away any spoilers lol. He had me believing new possibilities on who were good and bad. Another fascinating read by T.M. Franklin and I can't wait to read more from her. I would recommend this to sci fi/ paranormal readers.
I really love this series by TM Franklin and The Guardians was possibly even better than the first book. I loved how the plot moved beyond the origin story and the readers learned more and more about the council and Ava’s powers.
The author continues to create fully developed characters. Ava and Caleb were drawn realistically and I loved how far Ava has come since the start of More. The opening scene was a lot of fun and I think showed her growth as a character. The secondary characters are well done too and I love not knowing anyone’s true intentions. One minute a bad guy can become an ally.
There was a lot more action in Guardians and I loved how it jumped right into the plot. The only issue I had was that I wish there was a little bit of a plot refresher at the start since I was a little loss over the race’s abilities and back story.
The dialogue is snappy and the author moved the story along at a good pace. There are also a few plot twists that caught me by surprise. Definitely check out this book if you love New Adult reads with a paranormal twist.
Rating: 4.5/5 Stars
I received a copy of the book as part of The Guardians blog tour.
***I received an eARC from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.***
I really enjoyed reading The Guardians, book two in The More series, and had a really hard time putting the book down. I ended up reading it in about 4 hours. It had a little bit of everything from romance, mystery, suspense, characters with super powers, and a lot of action. In this beautifully written sequel, Ava learns more about her Race given telekinetic abilities and how strong her powers are. She is such a strong and multi-dimensional character; I found it really easy to connect with her. I wasn't a huge fan of Caleb in this book. He came off as a very stand-offish for most of the book.
I wish there was more development in the relationship between Caleb and Ava. Maybe it was in the first book? I haven't read that one yet but I do plan to.
Overall, though, The Guardians was a fast paced and good read. I most likely would have given it a five star rating on Goodreads if there had been more of a development between Ava and Caleb's relationship. I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys reading romance, mystery, suspense, and action packed stories.
Your average college girl would be sufficiently wowed if she discovered she was part of an ancient super-race. She would also be considerably more stoked if she acquired a gorgeous boyfriend who's also part of that race. Most would be content to go on the run with said boyfriend, and never re-surface, especially if the First Race's Ruling Council wants to keep you prisoner in their version of paradise, and if they accused your boyfriend of betraying the Race. She'd definitely want to go into hiding if she herself were accused of a crime she didn't commit and wasn't sure how to go about clearing her name.
Before Ava can even consider going on the lam with her hottie, Caleb turns up missing. To find him, she enlists the aid of the Protector who starred in her dreams before she ever knew there was a First Race, the ever-stoic and deadly, Tiernan.
Together, they go on a mission that uncovers a plot to destroy the First Race as it is known, but also Ava's existence may be in even more jeopardy than they first imagined.
The Guardians was a very astute followup to More and an awesome lead-in to Twelve.
I read More, the first in this trilogy, this summer, enjoyed it, and reviewed it here. I enjoyed The Guardians as well, but maybe not as much as the first one.
Ava's life continues to become more complicated when Caleb begins to exhibit some behaviors inconsistent with his original view point. Ava becomes concerned, but when events put her in a situation that leaves her accused of a crime she didn't commit and Caleb disappears, her life becomes even more chaotic.
To her surprise, Tiernan becomes an unexpected ally, and the two work on discovering what has gone wrong and who the guilty parties are. Ava is also distressed to discover that someone she has learned to trust has deceived her.
Oh, yes, I do look forward to the concluding book of this trilogy.

The plot thickens in this addition, leaving readers on the edge of their seats. Just when you think you have the series figured out Ms. Franklin throws a wrench in the plot and sends readers into a new and exciting direction. Having a mysterious quality and adding new characters, The Guardians is a “must read” for anyone who loves this genre. To see the rest of this review cllick here
I loved this. I thought it was even better than the first. Lots of surprises and suspense. We find out more in this one and there are more secrets. I now love Tiernan. Who would have thought? Looking forward to the next!
