Ebury Press has sold more than 140,000 copies of this hilarious book since it was published in the U.K.Is stress really all that bad? Without it, could we get everything done, or would we just be sickeningly happy-go-lucky day in and day out? In The Little Book of Stress Rohan Candappa shows ways to actually increase the level of stress within you and those around you. Because without stress, life is boring. Increase your own stress levels and create stress in others with simple measures such
* If you are stressed, make sure you communicate this to those around you. Soon they'll be stressed too. * Switch the decaffeinated and caffeinated coffees around whenever you can. * Always join in other people's arguments. Try to get others to join in too. * When you're the first car in line at a traffic light, get out and read a map. Try to miss the green light at least twice. * A double espresso just before bed is always a winner. * Replace your bulbs with overhead, neon-strip lights. If you can get ones that flicker, all the better. * If someone is telling you a joke and you know the punch line, wait until they've nearly finished, then tell them you've heard it before. * Ask single women if they've got a boyfriend yet. Repeat on Valentine's Day.
I read this book along time ago (8-10 yrs ago) and it was the first book I've read in English (I'm not a native speaker), and I really enjoyed it. This book's hilarious, I remember myself laughing so hard while reading it. I think everyone should read this book. It's so small and won't take half of the time I took (I was a beginner back then :P). The sad part is that I've lost my copy and now I'm actually planning on buying another to re-read it :D ..
The wife doesn't understand why I read books like this; ones that tell me to do bad things. But then never did understand humour. She's a person who takes things literally and at face value. You can't do that with this book. Well, you can, but you'll end up being one twisted individual.
You have to read the stuff in this book and then laugh at how many of them your wife, friends, colleagues and the rest of the world do ALL THE TIME! Of course, you yourself do one or two of them too; but no more than that.
This is a book to savour. Read it slowly. Think deeply about how you can become a better person. And then give it away and forget about it.
I read this a few years back and posted a review on YouTube and one of the author's friends scolded me for thinking too hard. This is a book made to make money with little to it and not much to make yo laugh.
I never understand the word "Stress" before. I often times heard it at my work place but I really don't know what does it means. As a simply Filipina who has been raised by grandparents and has been pampered by a lot of family members, then maybe that's why I don't know what is Stress means, until someone who have a really dark force which a cult-like group put me on their hate list and harassed me in every chances they can make. Then again I research about it and I found I am one of Targeted Individuals subject for sleep deprivation, torture, stalking, harassment and bullying, there and then I called it STRESS. the funny thing is I have been a happy person in my entire life, been with different kind of friends, knowledgeable ones, religious ones, fashionable ones, goody-goody ones, rich ones, poor ones(like me)and most important the CRAZY ONES-but in funny way.
My favorite weekly hang out place for since 6th grade is LIBRARY don't care how crappy the books are, how old and how much i can read the words or perhaps how much i can understand. Then one day I scanned through $5.00 books in Barnes and Nobles then I came across this little tiny red colored book and the title made me so curious because it says "The Little Book of Stress", so...my forehead squinted and I asked myself " Maybe the author's English is impacted like mine or maybe perhaps he is reversing the story". So I picked it up and end up reading all of the pages laughing so hard from the first page, then I got offended to some of the context and laughed again.
THIS BOOK will treat you to something, it is humorous but very philosophical. I highly recommend this book. Don't be an ass though hahaha just laugh at people who somewhat wants to get into your nerves. LOL
This is one of those little books you pick up at the grocery store just for fun. The author pokes fun at the way we add stress to our lives.
Favorites: Recognize your limitations. Then ignore them.
Really tense up all your muscles. Try to stay this way all day. If this proves impossible, you have yet again failed at a really simple task.
The faster you breathe, the more air you get. It's a way of getting one up on those around you. You're breathing air that should rightfully be theirs. And they can't do anything about it.
Get in touch with the child within you. Not the one who sees the world with eyes filled with wonder, but the one who sulks, whines, and constantly demands attention. Introduce this child to those around you.
Why meditate when you can worry? Worrying is meditation carried out by realists.

An amusing little book with some laugh out loud moments (so watch were you read it)... However it is very slight and not as funny as many reviews would make out. But I probably wouldn't have posted a review at all except that there were a couple of reviews that seemed to have a complete sense of humour bypass and missed the point that the whole book is an exercise in satire, although it does actually reflect the thinking of some people. But as a rule of thumb, do exactly the opposite of what it says in this book for a somewhat less-stressed life. A stocking filler for the stressed-out...
THE BEST POLICY Be honest. All the time. With everyone. About everything.
THE BETTER POLICY Lie. All the time. To everyone. About everything.
THE PRESENT TENSE Really tense up all your muscles. Try to stay this way all day. If this proves impossible, you have yet again failed at a really simple task.
TURNIP One day a week eat only turnips.

Stress. Everyone should have some. If your supply is running low, read this book. If you'd like to give more to others, read this book. If you feel like wasting time so you have to hurry and get done what you should have been doing instead of reading this book, read this book. Everyone deserves a little stress. Why should your life be any different than mine?
that i am entirly too much of a happy person and need to get stressed out more... or at least thats what garrett wanted me to learn... i just laughted through the whole thing

Hardy har har. Ok. This is not literature. I know it's a conversation starter "made for the coffee-table lite" book. Read it and weep, or laugh your....buns off.
Somewhat funny, but ultimately more disturbing than funny to me. I think I was given it at a bad (read: very stressed) time in my life, and making fun of stress just seemed to make me more stressed.
