After facing certain death at the hands of the man responsible for their mysterious past, Krista and her friends learn the truth behind their origins and the purpose for their newly discovered abilities. My mind is reeling; I’m absolutely impressed with where the story is going! I LOVE LOVE LOVED the sequel! I’m not really familiar with angel stories, but this one’s really good. I think now, I’m definitely going to start on the Unearthly series.
Anyway, so the sequel picks up right where the last book left off. A LOT of things are clarified. New characters are introduced, and new friendships are forged, but the dark evil force is still as cunning as powerful as ever, threatening to tear the sacred bond of Krista’s group.
And, there’s a lot of shocking twists I definitely did not see coming. Krista and Mark’s bond is put to the test, and the story ends with a heart pounding cliffhanger.
But the good news is, I won’t have to wait for the third book to be released, as I will be starting on it right away ;)
“I couldn't help wondering if that was just another part of God's plan for us. All of our personalities seemed to mesh perfectly, like we were created to be a group…God obviously knew what traits would mesh and flourish, and he created his bands accordingly.”
This series has it all. Solid romantic connections (with no love triangles, or rectangles), solid friendships, very healthy portrayals of love, and a kick-ass paranormal/guardian-angel-protector-archangel, with a light v. dark theme going on, with a litle bit of X FILES vibe thrown in. Definitely one of the better series I’ve read this year. Highly recommended!
At this very moment I cannot form a sentence! The reason I am saying this is because I just finished Forgotten Souls. JUST FINISHED IT and I am still on an emotional roller coaster. I cannot believe it!
*breathe* Let's start at the beginning:
Krista and Mark are safe from their ordeal with Victor. Well, as safe as they can be. Shawn and Krista have figured out that they are brother/sister, Robert and Lynn have official joined their band and lets not forget Sam is still around making everyone laugh. Now, they just need some training and who better than an archangel, Haniel. It seems that things are progressing well until Haniel brings in another band to help with a fight that is getting ready to take place.
Not long after that all hell breaks lose (pun intended) and I am pretty sure Tiffany King is trying to kill me with the ending of this book for 2 reasons. 1) I cried my eyes out and 2) she left us with a HUGE cliffhanger. Sometime free will is more powerful than love (just saying)!
i have a major girl crush on tiffany. i can't lie. she just knows how to spark the emotions in a reader without going "too far." i will admit that i had a harder time getting into this book than i did the first of the series, but as i kept reading, i realized that the beginning of the book was an integral part of what was to follow. by about 1/2 way through, i was hooked and HAD to finish it in one sitting.
Better than the first! Oh I love it! I would smile, gasp, cry all in the same page! It was a def page turner! At the end I would be gasping and jumping and people would look at me like I'm an idoit(: But I love it and some people didn't think it was as good as the other one but I thought it was better!! More action . Everyone should read this!!
Okay I definitely liked this more than the first book! There was much more camaraderie between everyone and things started to get more exciting. I think Haniel just made me love this more not gonna lie lol.
Still no wow factor but honestly these books are kind of addicting ahahaha
I actually cried multiple times during this book. I wrote about them in this review.
You know, seeing the covers of these books didn't draw me in. Something about them just seemed so... Fake. I can't help but wonder if someone drew these pictures, slapped them on a scanner to put them on a computer to "fix up" with a fancy program, then just slap them on the cover. I don't... hate them, I just don't love them. Especially this, the blue and purple shades clash with the darkened angel.
Nevertheless, I really enjoyed this story. I think I knocked this book out in three, maybe four hours (includes eating, and such, ahaha). It was so cool, and cute. I really like Krista, I think she does a really amazing job at NOT following the rules, and doing what's best for everyone. I also enjoy how she has stayed true to her character since book one (yes, she has grown, but in this book she still keeps quiet, and doesn't always say what's on her mind).
Of course, everyone loves Mark. Who wouldn't? But the ending of the book brought me to complete and utter tears. I could feel for Krista. And I mean, REALLY feel for her. How could Mark do such a thing? After all the times they've had together... I'm really just hoping that Victor (Mark's Dad) somehow brainwashed Mark. I really can't see how Mark could do that to Krista.
Another tear-jerker moment: Thomas and Grace. Oh. My. Gosh. I seriously put the book down in that moment and took a deep, deep breath. I couldn't comprehend what happened. How could she go from being the Sunshine of a room,... to... not being it? And their baby?! What about their baby? I couldn't even fathom. I couldn't. And I still can't.
Haniel, the Archangel sent to teach the Links (Guides and Protectors) is brilliant. His witty comments, and the fact that he knows the deepest and most complex things, but doesn't know the simplest human things was really humorous and enjoyable.
And I am impressed that King had enough guts to bring in several different characters. I believe she introduced fourteen more... (that's a rough guess.)? Anyway, she introduced two more Guide and Protector groups, and one group was missing a pair of Links. THAT was incredible. And the fact that she made the Guides match the Guides (personality wise) and the Protectors match the Protectors (again, personality wise), was really cool.
I can't wait to dig myself into the last book The Ascended . There are so many unanswered questions! It's going to be a great series!
I really, really implore King for writing this. Forgotten Souls was amazing and incredibly unpredictable. There were times when I thought I knew what was going to happen, thought I could just skip a few sentences ahead because I knew the outcome... and the outcome was completely and utterly different. I just am in complete awe at this series.
Let me first start off by saying if you haven’t purchased the third book in this series, you definitely need to do that before you start on book 2, Forgotten Souls. I just finished it and I’m having a hard time concentrating on writing this review. So unlike my usual reviews were I use quotes in between my paragraphs, it’s usually quotes I love the most, but I was so caught up in this book I wasn’t able to pause long enough to highlight anything. Not saying there’s not good quotes, because there are loads, I just want to get onto book three, The Ascended. I will also say that I’m a major crier. So if you are too you’re going to want tissues next to you and maybe some chocolate. So in Meant to Be, Krista and Mark find each other. The world they thought they knew wasn’t what it seemed. Their band of Guides and Protectors were finally being trained to do something they were born to do. But that doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy. Though created for a specific purpose the strengths of their bond are going to put up to a test. A test that’s life and death.
Which brings us right into book 2, The Forgotten Souls. After finally meeting their archangel, Haniel, the training is not stop, alone time is almost none existent, and Krista is starting to question her ability to be able to do this. Mark takes Krista to an outdoors famers market where she touches a girl. Instead of shying away like she normally does, she allows the emotion and images to enter her, but before she can do anything to fix them the girl is gone. Stumbling upon something more than just the girl, Mark and Krista’s band agrees they need to do something about it. Finally convincing Haniel, the Archangel, they begin training for that. This one incident is just the beginning of what’s to come. This where Krista really starts questioning her role and ability. Everyone can see her importance but her. Is this going to be a hindrance?
The ending of this book has you wanting to throw your kindle. Well at least I did and probably would have if it wasn’t new lol. No but really its one of those, OH MY GOD you have got to be kidding me! Then it has you questioning everything that you thought about the person. It leaves you reeling and getting ready to jump into the next book because that’s exactly what I’m going to do. I have an idea of the outcome because Tiffany King, let’s just say I have a mutual understanding on the endings of books. Lol ok maybe not an understanding but I’m pretty sure she’s a HEA girl, at least I hope so! ;)
I will however leave you with one quote.
“We may have been created to save the forgotten souls, but what happens when one of our own becomes the most important forgotten soul of all.”
*Inhales deeply* All of the things flying through my mind right now and I am having a hard time getting them to settle. Tiffany King packs a powerful punch in this one and I mean it sent me reeling and trying to grasp what was happening. This is the second book in the Saving Angels series and it does not disappoint at all. It stands beside its predecessor and says "I am every bit as awesome as you are!" There is a lot of amazing packed between the covers of this book and not a moment of it is dull or boring.
Upon picking this up you will be thrust right back into the world of Links(description for the connected pairs). Tiffany did not skip a beat when she started this one and made sure that she got right back to the characters. The characters that you grew to love in Meant to Be are all here and growing into more of a family than a group of friends. There is a warm and full feeling that fills the pages when these guys are together. They complete each other, even though they are each with their soul mate you know that things wouldn't be the same if they weren't a group.
There is a lot that happens in this novel. The Links learn more about what they can do and what their purpose truly is. Krista seems to embrace everything and learn it a little easier than everyone. She really seems to be growing into what she is and who she has become over the past little while. Her attachment to Mark, the other half of her is only growing stronger and sometimes their love flows right out of the book and blows me away. Their love no longer feels like the insta love that it once was but something stronger and more developed. I actually feel that they are one of the stronger YA couples out there.
There is also a lot more action in this book than in the last. Finding out what they can do means they can do it to make things better and take control. Like always though, the battle against evil is not an easy one. There is loss and heartbreak. Loss and heartbreak that will have you flipping back to make sure that you read it right and didn't just imagine what happened. The stakes are high and I was flying by the end of this one. I mean the pages couldn't turn fast enough.
Despite my current hardship with Angels Tiffany King's Forgotten Souls captivated me from start to finish. Her bold decision to bring in many new characters paid off and it created a much more high risk story. This proved to be a fast paced and heart tugging read. The action and everything else that fills these pages will have you racing out to get the next book!!
Imagine your favorite dream occurring each and every night. In The Saving Angel Series by Tiffany King, this is what happens to Krista every night.
After the loss of her father, Krista and her mother decide to move to Santa Cruz. It is a new start for them, but it is also a special place for Krista. Each night she dreams of the beach there, along with a young man who she prays will be there as well. When she realizes that her dreams are now a reality, she also has to understand that she is “linked” to Mark in more ways than one.
This series is FABULOUS! If you love books about angels, demons, good, bad, vampires, and warewolves… then this is your next series! The love aspect in this series is very different. It is about family and survival. This is what draws everyone to Santa Cruz. The story behind The Light and The Dark Ones is very unique. There is so much emotion in this series. I loved how everything was happy, nothing can go wrong to OMG! WTH? in like 2 seconds! Also, the relationships between each character are so specific. The relationships remind me of people in general… The ability to see good and evil, never giving up hope, fighting for love-your beliefs, and overcoming the evil in this world.
I’m so glad that I could read all 3 books at one time…. if I would have had to wait on them, I would have been a mess! Also, one plus about buying the bundle is the added bonus of The Dark One: A Saving Angels Prequel I’m not even going to comment on it because it will give too much away! All I can say is that it broke my heart in so many ways! Poor Haniel! I really wished that it kept going instead of only a few short chapters! It does give you insight to what happened before all Guides and Protectors lost their families.
I have to say that I can’t give Tiffany King enough props! She is hands down one of the best authors I have EVER read! Also, the fact that I have found her to be so open to reviews and really wants to know what readers think!… It might also have to do with the fact she wouldn’t trip me if we were chased by zombies because that’s how we roll!
I am super excited to say that Tiffany King has a new book called Jordyn: A Daemon Hunter Novel to be released soon! Also, the 1st chapter is on her blog! Book Love You can also follow her on Facebook at Tiffany King or Twitter @AuthorTiffany. Happy Reading and Daemon a** kickin’!
This is the second installment of the Saving Angels Series and was even more satisfying than the first, as many things were explained more fully. Questions from the first book were neatly wrapped up in a smooth and naturally unfolding process. King is quite strong with her storytelling, the entire work agreeing from beginning to end and I didn't find myself wondering about inconsistencies. I love the main character's tragic vulnerabilities combined with an inner core of strength. I am thankful the mother wasn't featured in this novel nearly as much (I so didn't care about her, don't know why) and the primary group of characters mature just that much more. This has become more of a YA crossover work but it is clean and mature (for the sensitive reader). There are mature themes written but handled lightly. She is superb at this mixed style and handles it with finesse.
Krista is on the verge of graduation from high school while on the chasm of discovery as to why she is who and what she is. She has a unique destiny after years of feeling off-kilter and not fitting into what she thought was her life's plan. Then Mark enters her life. She discovers she's not the only one with her unique destiny and is thrilled to finally fit. When a celestial “teacher” meets and begins training her group to assist people in finding emotional peace, the pace heats up and as a Guide, she is under constant threat. King is still terrific with transitioning smoothly and gives a sense of time passing that doesn't leave the reader “un-anchored.” The last quarter of the book is absolutely fantastic with plenty of action and tension to keep the reader stuck to the pages. I'd like to see more of this style interspersed throughout the work and not saved for the latter half. I loved, LOVED the ending and hated, HATED the ending! King closed the story on a screeching, anti-climatic tone that made me ache for Krista (it was emotionally wrenching). I CANNOT wait to read book three! If there isn't a book three, I will totally stalk her until she writes it! *hatches evil plan* .
I'm honestly not sure what to say about this book. I read it over two days, and the story is great. Adventure, romance, what's not to like? I wish I could say it's perfect. I opened the book with high expectations, and while it was good there was something that kept me from being able to engross myself in it (see note below). Also, I really felt like I should have cried at the ending but I couldn't. Maybe that just means I'm heartless and uncaring. However, the fact that I couldn't bring myself to wallow over it lost the book a star (sorry!). Still, the characters are intriguing, the plot line is fun, there are great new "links" introduced, and a major blow. I'm looking forward to book 3!
Side note: I read this on my Nook. I don't know if it's Ms. King's formatting, or if it's my Nook trying to be smarter than it is, but there were PROBLEMS. Frequently (like, several pages in a row) there were times when a word would be randomly split between lines. Usually when this happens, my Nook hyphenates appropriately, but so many times I had to stop and figure out that the random letter or two were actually the beginning or ending of a word. It was really annoying and distracting. I tried changing the font, hoping that adjustment would correct the problem, but the formatting forces the font to remain the same. I was so frustrated that I almost gave up two chapters into the book. So, while buying it on your Nook gives the author a slightly higher royalty percentage, for your own sanity get it on Kindle if you've got one.
King has done it again in this riveting sequel to Meant to Be! I was immediately drawn into the story as it picks up where Meant to Be left off, continuing the tale I fell in love with only a few short months ago. King’s novels have very quickly become my top reads this year, and I am excited for, and anxiously awaiting, more work by this genius author...
Much darker than Meant to Be, King has created a novel in which the reader isn’t sure whether good will triumph over evil, leaving the reader glued to the pages to find out what happens next.
The. End. Killed. Me. Seriously, although there was foreshadowing along the way, I didn’t really think it would happen, and of course, King floored me with an ending that left me reeling and dying to get my hands on the next book in the series, especially as Forgotten Souls leaves the reader hanging.
I highly suggest picking up a copy of Meant to Be prior to reading Forgotten Souls as the stories build off one another, so jumping right in to Forgotten Souls without reading the prequel may be quite confusing. Read them both...
I also recommend reading King’s short story in The Glassheart Chronicles, as it is a prequel to Meant to Be, giving the reader some interesting background on some of the characters and how the protectors and guides came to be.
I must say I have been eagerly and anxiously waiting for the release of this book. When I first read Meant to Be (Book 1 in The Saving Angels Series) I was very pleasantly surprised with the twists and turns of it. Well, Tiffany King does it again. In this book you will find action, intrigue, mystery , love and a roller-coaster of adventure.
Krista, Mark and their friends are back in the awesome setting that is Santa Cruz. (Which I still haven't visited but am dying to. Especially after picturing it with Tiffany's magical storytelling) Plus we meet some new characters, which I just loved. One of my favorite new characters has to be Haniel. He's so cut and dry that he's quite funny while at the same time he is wise and patient with the mission set before him. I am looking forward to knowing him a bit better in book 3.
Although, I haven't read a lot of "angel" books I feel like there is an originality and freshness to this angle on angels. I love the connections between the Guides and the Protectors, these connections lead to some very interesting dilemmas. Which you'll discover between the pages of this engrossing novel.
This book is fast-paced and full of action although be prepared for a major cliffhanger in the end. It left me with my chin on the floor and my eyes bugging out. I hope book 3 comes out soon because I can't wait to read what's next.
Recently I had the honor of reading the second book out of the Saving Angels Series by Tiffany King called Forgotten Souls.I totally fell in love with Krista and Mark's story along with Sam and Shawn in Meant To Be, the first book out of the series. Forgotten Souls only made me love them more!!
You can tell the growth Tiffany has gone through as a writer with how she describes the link between the Guides and their Protectors. I found myself feeling their joy and pain along every twist and turn the book led me down. Without having to say too much, even the steamy scenes made me blush as I could picture exactly what the characters were not saying.
I couldn't put this book down and even complained when I had to. I became so wrapped into the story line that even now I can't wait to read it again. Tears are still stinging my eyes from the ending, (which I will not spoil by telling you!) Forgotten Souls is one of those books that makes you want to read it until the very last page is read. I can't wait to see what book three has in store with Forgotten Souls heart clenching ending.
I'm giving this book an A+ just because I'm still wiping away tears and because it's just that good. Anybody who loves adventure, romance, and a paranormal twist should go out and pick this series up ASAP!!
Forgotten Souls picks up almost right where Meant to Be left off. Krista, Mark, and the other Guardians and Protectors in their band are closer than ever, which is a very good sign as their relationships are tested to extreme limits throughout the story. The theme of good versus evil is a central topic in this novel, and it's nearly impossible to figure out which side will emerge victorious.
As always, Tiffany King provides the perfect mix of action, suspense, drama, and romance. I loved the introduction of new groups of Protectors and Guardians, though it was a little confusing to differentiate between all of them. Krista and Mark were adorable as ever--it's impossible not to be at least a little envious of their relationship. :P
And then, of course, the cliffhanger ending--I nearly had a coronary. I don't want to spoil anything, but let's just say my worst fears just came alive. Can't wait for the next book to see what happens!
Forgotten Souls, a sequel to Meant to Be, is clearly a gateway into the next book in the series. I will say that I enjoyed it, just not as much as Meant to Be. King does an excellent job further developing the bonds between Guides and Protectors, which we were left wondering about in the first book. We learn a lot about the powers each of them holds, and it's fascinating seeing the super powers King chooses for the Guides versus the Protectors. Be prepared to read a lot about these powers and how they learn to control them.
We get a sneak peek at what the Guides and Protectors can do to save the world at the conclusion of Forgotten Souls. King amps up the action and continually maintains a focus on the emotional bond between the Guides and Protectors throughout the entire book. I recommend having a tissue box by your side for those sad moments that arise in this second book. King is a true writer, the kind that will make you both laugh and cry. If you haven't read Meant to Be or Forgotten Souls yet and you enjoy reading romance and/or paranormal books, I suggest you do.
Waaaaoow :) What a brilliant book! Really enjoyed this one and thought it was much better than the first as all the characters and story has developed. I liked that new character were brought into the book, really great characters as well. I adore Sam and Shawn and sometimes wish the book was about their relationship instead. I think Krista seems too tense or something, like she is always hurt or something, she actually had fun at one part by splashing Shawn but how did that end? With her being carried by Mark with frozen, painful feet. WISE UP! But i do like Krista but shes not the best character out of them all. Also i hate the way the sentence "Are you okay?" is used continuously in these books, i think in the space of 3 pages it was used 5-6 times :O I like the way their history is coming into the story and the background of their parents is making an appearance. I can't believe the ending though! That just broke my heart right there. I really need to read on right now as I am dying to find out how this is going to end! <3
So, if you read my review of Meant to Be, book 1, of this series, you know I really enjoyed it. I can honestly say, I think I enjoyed book 2 even more. I am a patient reader, especially with young adult and indie books, but there is no apologizing for this book. Miss King wrote a wonderful follow up. The pace is faster than book 1 and we are introduced to a few more characters. One thing I always look for in series books is character growth, especially the main character as this is the cornerstone of the books. Without giving any spoilers away, let me just say that Krista, the main character, has definitely progressed from book 1 as a young girl, unsure of herself, and blossomed into a strong, confident character that represents a positive message of personal strength for young women. Even after the ending which floored me, but I won't spoil it. Just trust me, if you like decent young adult fiction, this one didn't disappoint. Well done again, Miss King.
I cannot say enough good things about this book, or this series so far. This series has had me laughing, and in this second book crying as though my heart broke into a million pieces (cliché, I know). This book is definitely a guilty pleasure. Just enough supernatural for me, without going overboard (thankfully there are no sparkling vamps or spider monkey tree climbing in this book... *wink wink*) I was so entranced reading this book & crying so heavily that when I read the last line on my kindle, I hit the arrow to turn the page & it was OVER! Oh my lord the anguish I felt. I was so upset the book was over & where the author left it! I am buying the third book on my kindle having just finished the second only moments ago. READ THIS SERIES. ITS PHENOMENAL. Give it a shot. I could list for you minor discrepancies I have with it, but the amazing story & main characters outweighs anything negative I may be able to scrape together.
Wow - now we really get into the story! We know why Krista & Mark (and the others) have this unique, strong connection & now it's time to put it to the test! This book was a perfect blend of action & romance, my heart was racing constantly from one or the other. Some chapters ended with me feeling peaceful and happy, some scared to turn the page, and some left me in tears. I loved the addition of new characters as well, they helped give insight to story and hope for the future. Now I will be ANXIOUSLY awaiting the next book to see what lies ahead...
Tiffany King's brilliance has once again graced us in Forgotten Souls, the first book in the Saving Angels series! Her amazing detail with the characters is phenomenal! Just as I thought I had the plot figured out, Tiffany proved me wrong, leaving me shocked and extremely emotional at the unexpected events. So, if you're looking for an exciting book that will consume you so much so, leaving you so embedded into the lives of the characters that you can't distinguish between it and reality, that book is Forgotten Souls!
**SPOILER** OMG! I am speechless, really. I always have something to say, but Ms. King u have me at a loss of words. The cliffhanger to Forgotten Soul is painful, so much I don't know what to say. I feel Krista's pain as if it was my own. The absent of Mark is horrible. Please fix this, I am a sucker for happy endings and to have this series end on a sad note is just wrong. Your books are amazing, keep it up. I can't wait to read the next one.
I loved the sequel even more than the original, which is saying something since I devoured that one in a few hours. The only thing is the ending--Tiffany, you are killing me!! I must have book three, like, NOW! LOL What a cliffhanger ending. I swear these authors are going to send me to an early grave . . . .
Kudos for a great, enthralling, well paced story! And please please please, tell me all ends well :-)
I first fell in love with this authors works after reading Meant to Be book 1 in the series and book 2 doesn't disappoint. Tiffany sky rocketed to 1 of only 3 drop everything must read now authors for me. Do yourself a favor and read her work! I'm not a fan of angels but she put this fabulous twist on them and wrote it in a way I couldn't put it down.
Once I started this one, I didn't want to put it down and did not put it down until it was over which felt like it came too soon. The heartwrenching twist this one took made me start the final book in the series as soon as I finished the last page.
