I really have fun with self-help books but I never really get anything out of them; I dig them, I enjoy reading them, but when the day is done, eh. This one was all right. I liked all the case study type examples that she used, that was pretty cool.

This book is, according to its title, about overcoming the fear of success. It is little more than a collection of case studies culminating in the author’s own story. All very interesting but not particularly helpful in terms of actually overcoming anything. It’s almost as if the author was afraid of successfully achieving the aim of the book. Pretty much a waste of time.

This is a very useful book, and provides some insights about why and how we tend to sabotage ourselves. If you fumble opportunities to move ahead, grow, and really enjoy life; if you often ask yourself, “Why did I do that....again?” this book can help.

It is an old book (1980) but in general it is a useful book that propped up my enthusiasm in unconscious and its roll in our lives. It is a good starting point for reading about fear of success. This is an interesting quote from it: “Minimizing the importance of a goal is an excellent way to reach that goal.”
