Good enough to learn how to create sufficient website blogs.
Doesn't go as in-depth in Rails as Michael Hartl's Rails tutorial but this will also suffice.
That's also the reason why this book doesn't get more than 3 stars from me. There's no learning and practicing part here. You're guided from start to end. There's little room for improvement of the site on your own.
I have always wanted to learn "coding" but was so scared of it and didn't know where to start. When my friend told me about Ruby and Rails, I thought that this was the place to start.
I learn best by a hands on technique and this book gave me that hands on feel that I needed. I just sat at my computer with my ebook and went step by step until I was finished. It was an easy book to follow and gave great advise and examples of everything you need to know. Plus if you need more help, the author has courses set up (at a great discount) and even gives you his email address to ask any questions.
This is a great book that will teach you everything you need to set up your own website/app. You won't be lead astray with this book! I've been practicing and experimenting daily and I am improving and becoming more confident with Rails and Ruby.
I was hoping for more ground work. I'm not a fan of devise gem and this book really depended on it. Also the way he addresses the reader feels less friendly and more condescending, but maybe that's just the translation's fault. You won't learn much from it. It's basically an ad for his online tutorial series.
