"I watch in horror as they take my daughter from me. All my preparation can't save her. I feel helpless as they drag her away, her hand slips from mine. It's a horrible feeling. But my will is strong. I can't let them win. I will fight back with everything I have, but is it enough? Will I find myself trapped as well, unsure of how to escape? And what about my other daughters left behind? As I sit in the darkness, I think about Wren and what horrors she might endure at this very moment. It's a nightmare that sends chills down my spine. What they don't know is that if they lay a hand on her, that's the last thing they'll ever do."

A great follow on from Book 1 in the series. Trouble starts when Sloane and Wren are captured by the thugs that have visited their hideaway before. This sets Kent out on a rescue mission and there follows a good dose of brutality and violence – a much darker theme to the first story, but the characters are developing all the time and will not say no, but will fight to the end.
They say time heals all wounds, but will it heal the physical wounds suffered by Sloane and Wren as they and others prepare to defend their realised again freedom. A really great story that sees our characters preparing to defend their new freedom, which should lead nicely in to Book 3 which I have already purchased.
If you haven’t read this author, I suggest you start immediately with Unbound – book 1 in the Dawn of Deception series. They are so entertaining that they beg to not be put down, and I am looking forward to devouring Book 3.

Good

If the author could just remember how to spell her damn protagonist’s name...
Good story, but very dark during the part of the imprisonment. I don’t want to give a spoiler, so I’m being very vague, but whoa. That was difficult to digest.
Something I noticed in the first book as well, the author gives a lot of reminders about who is who and what has happened before, which would be a good thing, except that they’re placed oddly. Also, some of the situations are laid out in an odd order. Twice, I thought I skipped pages or had pages missing. The editor could stand to do a little better job helping the author properly get her book organized.
Hopefully the next one is better, because overall, I am very much enjoying this story.

Book 2 of trilogy, Dawn of deception, is so good I ordered book 3 without posting my review.

I received book 1 as a free gift from the author. I devoured it and ordered the next, UNDONE, which I again I could barely put down long enough to deal with life’s little realities. In the middle of the night when I finished book 2, I immediately ordered book 3.

That alone should let you know, this is a very readable series that I highly recommend.

Shaw’s characters are so real, full of good and bad, struggling, in most cases, to do what is right. Her bad characters are very bad or just weak humans making poor choices.

In our current world, I do not see these stories as fantasy, rather as warnings and preparation for bad possibilities we could face.

Book two is very intense

Rating 4.5 stars

I almost stopped reading this book because of the torture being done in the prison scene. I was afraid things were going to get more graffic and I did not want those type of scenes to upset me. But the story did not become more horrific. I just wish the author had chosen a less gruesome torture method.

If you can make it past the torture of the prisoners, the rest of the story is very good. There are many twists and turns to the plot. I will be reading the next book in the series.

Thriller that will keep you reading

This series may be classified as a thriller, but on a scale of 1-10 I’d probably give it a 3 at best. However it is an enjoyable read. It keeps you reading and, like the previous book, ends on a cliffhanger. I’ll be waiting for the next book to come out.

This second book of the series takes on a darker theme and left me upset at times. I really felt for the characters , and was concerned about where the story was taking me, but I had to continue. I had to know who would survive ! This could one day be our world, our survival, our fight. I can't wait to dig into the final book of the series. Wow if you haven't read this series start now !!!

The Art of War

As with all the books I’ve read by A.R.Shaw, it’s about the family you are born with or the family you make along the way. The “family” here is again surviving the brutalities of surviving. Shaw will keep you at night until you find out who will survive and who will die. I do hope the two welders don’t die before it’s revealed how they became the two welders.

Good Story

This what I’ve come to enjoy about A.R. Shaw’s books, a very nice continuation of the first story in the series. Characters are growing in both their strength and skill. I will definitely read the next book.

Action packed couldn't put down!

Very well written and characters are true to life. What happens to humanity when the world as we know it comes to to an end? This book tells us what to expect. Scary is an understatement! Happy reading, can't wait for the next one.

Torture and a terrible ending

The second installment of this series was a huge disappointment. It starts with torture of women and children, they eventually escape, but it ends with the enemy storming into their compound. Not recommend.

Good story!

Sloane and Kent continue trying to keep body and soul together when all at once all of Sloane’s fears come to life. After much terror and pain they are all back together but two of them are not quite whole.

This was good. I just got so frustrated with the fade to black and tell you what happened rather than showing. I hate jumping forward past an event then telling backwards. What happened exactly to Wren? What happened with Rose exactly? Why do I have to assume or guess? I’m so annoyed…

The excitement continues

Hmmm. Did not like the way it ended---talk about a cliffhanger. The rest of the book was wonderful. It is a nice, easy read and the cast of beloved characters had grown with each book. I'm headed off to Amazon to get book 3.

Better than Book 1

Book 1 was so redundant I almost didn’t get Book 2. Book 1 FINALLY picked up so I changed my mind. Glad I did. Dawn of Deception was fast paced, never boring. The story line was actually good and held my interest.

so glad the taking away happens first….

Kept me riveted, so glad this is a novel and not a movie. My imagination will only allow so much. Great characters, scary scenes, I sincerely pray people read this and rethink the free gift Jesus offers us.

Jaa? Kuhu kadus esimese osa kass???

Captivating

This book is not as good as book 1 in the series. Still, it's a scary read. I finished in one day. Just couldn't stop myself from finding out what happens next.

UNDONE BOOK 2

Yes another great read. It’s hard to put it down. So much cruelty going on and probably in this world too. We just don’t hear about most of it.

Superb book!

Sloane and Kent and the girls struggle to survive in a destroyed world is a vigorous tale of how humans can still keep their ethical ways to survive and still fight those who use brute force to survive.

I eagerly await the next instalment to see which faction wins and what means they use to survive and rebuild a self sufficient community.

Sloane Delaney is always vigilant. She is constantly preparing for the worst-case scenario. From her experience on Horseshoe Lane, she knows evil will stop at nothing. But, is she prepared for what she’s up against now? And, will she be able to protect those dear to her?

Shaw’s second novel in the Dawn of Deception series, Undone picks up several months after the first book. The characters have grown from the horrors they experienced and are stronger as a result. Sloane’s sheer will if nothing else has kept them together.

I’ve followed Shaw since her very first novel. She always delivers a good story. This is no exception. It is solid. In some ways, this one is more horrific than the first. There is no way to escape the maliciousness of those that are intent on ruling in this new post-apocalyptic world.

5 out of 5 stars.
